Beloved husband of Marjory (nee Lee) for fifty-five and one half years; father of daughter Beverly Ashton and her family, Maria and Amber; and daughter Christine Marsh-Williams (Charles S.) and their family, Jessica Williams (Glenn Holden) and Clayton. He is also survived by a sister Margery Parker (George); two sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in Australia. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers in Australia. He also leaves many good mates in Australia and we will all miss dearly his love, generosity and wonderful humour. Fred was raised in Australia and joined the R.A.A.F. in 1941, trained as Wireless Operator in Calgary, and married Marjory in 1942. During his tour of operations in Europe, Fred towed gliders and dropped paratroops in Airborne Operations D-Day Arnheim and Rhine Crossing. Supplied French, Danish and Norwegian Underground with arms and ammunition. Retrieved P.O.W.'s from Brussels. Detached from Squadron to Air Circus for Allied Aircraft Recognition flying displays to American and British Army and Naval Bases prior to D-Day. Took Paratroops to Italy for S.A.S. operations. Numerous training exercises for glider pilots and paratroopers. First Allied Aircraft to land in Oslo, Norway on May 7, 1945 for the surrender of German Air Force in Norway. After the war, spent many years with Airforce Reserve, and twenty years with the Air Cadet movement where he was the Provincial Chair a year. He was an Honourable Life Member of the Stampede Band Committee, a member of SAIT's Alive, the Aircrew Association and the A.U.S.I. MARSHALL - Eleanor Jean passed away peacefully at home of heart disease, November 8, 1997 at the age of 85 years. She was the beloved daughter of John and Ethel Marshall and sister Margaret Marshall who predeceased her. She will be remembered with great affection by her cousins and many, many friends. Jean was born in Innisfail, moving to Calgary at a young age. She attended Normal School and taught in Penhold, Okotoks and Didsbury, later joining the staff at the University Demonstration School in Calgary in 1944. She was one of the first women appointed as a principal of an elementary school with the Calgary Board of Education retiring in 1972 from Capitol Hill School. Jean was an Elder and member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Her Christian faith influenced many children and youth in the Sunday School and through her leadership skills with the Alberta CGIT Association. A Memorial Service led by Rev. S.J. Stewart of Grace Presbyterian Church and the Rev. MARTIN - Manny Martin, of Calgary, beloved husband of Shirley, passed away at his residence on June 5, 1997 at the age of 63. Besides his loving wife, Manny is survived by his family: Becky, Dave, Jeff, and Jeremy Van der Hoop of Langley, B.C., Rhonda Martin, Dan, Jodi, Josh, Samantha and Zachary Martin of Calgary. Manny wrote a popular column in a Calgary newspaper for a number of years. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, canoeing and fishing. He was involved in the lumber business. MARTLAND - Hon. Ronald, C.C., Q.C., B.C.L., LL.D. At home, in Ottawa, on Thursday, November 20, 1997, aged 90 years. Beloved husband of the late Iris Martland. Father of Patricia Martland-Roscoe of Halifax, and John Martland (Jill) and Brigid Stewart, both of Calgary. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and his sister Kay Sidney of Whitehorse, Y.T. Educated in Edmonton; graduated, Gold Medalist - University of Alberta Law School; Rhodes Scholar; Hertford College, Oxford - Vinerian Law Prize recipient. Called to the Alberta Bar - 1932. Practised with Milner, Steer; Appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada, January 15, 1958. Retired February 10, 1982. Awarded the Alberta Order of Excellence. Counsel to Honeywell, Wotherspoon (Lang, Michner). The Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa (Sparks at Bronson) on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Private family committal on Tuesday. MARTYNIUK - Kenneth George Martyniuk of East Coulee, Alberta, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 8, 1997 at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary after a long valiant fight with kidney and heart disease. As God says in Rev. 21:4 "there will be no more pain or suffering", because Ken is at peace now. Ken was born April 23, 1949 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan. He lived and worked in Calgary most of his life before moving to East Coulee. Despite his pain and suffering these past years, Ken still managed to bring joy and laughter into the hearts of all whom his life touched. He will be forever loved, remembered and missed by his loving wife Bonnie; his daughter Jodie Lynn and her husband Chris Robinson of East Coulee, Alberta. Ken is also survived by one brother, four sisters and numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased in 1954 by his father Stephen, July 1994 by his mother Mary Moore, August 1994 by his sister Elsie Kopec and August 29, 1988 by his son Jason. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Drumheller Church of the Nazarene, (627 - 6 Street East, Drumheller), today, July 12, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne McCrackin officiating. MARWOOD - The family of Lois Elizabeth Marwood, of Vernon, B.C., and formerly of Killiney Beach, B.C., and Calgary, regretfully announce her passing on June 29, 1997 at the age of 83, after a brief illness, in Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Lois is survived by her sons, Douglas (Ellen) and family of Calgary, Ronald (Barbara) and family of Prince George, B.C., and a daughter Charlotte (Barry) Fox and family of Edmonton. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1985 and a grandson Gary in 1994. Funeral Services were held in Vernon, July 3, 1997 (7/12/1997).
JONES - Marjorie Jones passed away in Calgary on June 26, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Marjorie was born on August 5, 1924 in Calcutta, India and lived in Calgary since November 1974. She is the beloved wife of Walter A. Jones; and loving mother to daughter Lorraine M. Tatarkowski, and son Christopher A. Jones. Also survived by her mother Ernestine Mascarenhas; and brothers and sisters, Eric Mendonca of Karachi, Lance Mendonca of Montreal, Barbara Maxwell of Calgary, Leslie Latham of London, UK, and Rodney Mendonca of London, UK. Marjorie was predeceased by her father John Mendonca as well as her brother Clarence Mendonca, and her sister Merlyn Correa. JORDAN - Agnes Elizabeth Jordan passed away at the Bow View Nursing Home on June 26, 1997 at the age of 79 years. She is survived by one daughter and six sons, Del (Madeline) of Red Deer, Stan (Carol) of Calgary, Dale (Marlene) of Calgary, Larry (Mary) of Kamloops, Gloria (Luis Perez) of Guatemala City, Ken (Darcy) of Strathmore and Ted (Cheryl) of Calgary. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Omdal of Victoria, and Ruby Bruhjell of Victoria. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Roy on February 24, 1995 and her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
