- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -KALBFEISCH - Marion Leila Joan (McBride), eldest daughter of the late Charles and Lilian McBride, passed away after a valiant eleven year battle with cancer. Born in Red Deer, July 31, 1920, she moved with her family to Calgary in 1968. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Harry LaFonte; one sister, Mae (Ed) Matthews of Sherwood Park; three daughters Candy (Brian) eager, Judith (Stan) Johnston of Calgary, Brenda (Ray) Leeming of Kelowna; seven loving grandchildren; a great grandson and an aunt, Fred Alberta McBride of Victoria. She will be sadly missed by numerous cousins in Canada, England and Australia and many caring and loyal friends. Joan was predeceased by her younger sister Jerril (Ed) Ozeroff. The McBride family were old-timers and hardware merchants in both Calgary and Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Riverview United Church Chapel with interment of ashes to follow at the City of Red Deer Cemetery. A tree will be planted in her memory at Fish Creen Park (11/13/1997).
KAMINSKI - Mrs. Bertha Kaminski, resident of the Bethany Care Centre Airdrie, passed away peacefully to meet her Lord, at the Peter Lougheed General Hospital on Wednesday, June 4, 1997 at the age of 93 years. Bertha is survived by her daughters, Hildegard Kaminski of Airdrie, Lillian and Bill Fisher of Calgary; sons, John and Mary Kaminski of White Rock, BC, Edwin and Lydia Kaminski of Duchess, Norman and Emma Kaminski of Calgary, and Pastor Orville and Esther Kaminski; and daughter-in-law Theresa Kaminski, all of Regina, Sask.; as well as nineteen grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren. Bertha is also survived by her sister Rosa Kaminski of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Karl in 1983, son Karl in 1989, granddaughter Susan Fisher in 1966, and great-granddaughter Linnea Berg in 1984. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Crowfoot Chapel" (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Sunday, June 8, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway's "Crowfoot Chapel", on Monday, June 9, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Garnet Leach officiating. KANDERKA - John Thomas Kanderka passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary on Monday, December 15, 1997 at the age of 83 years. John is survived by his loving wife Anne of Beiseker; children, Donald (Edith) of Calgary, George (Lynda) of Red Deer, John (Marcelle Nihei) of Calgary, and Helen (Orville) Megli of Ferintosh. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Calvin, David, Troy, Cory, Jeremiah, Jonathon, Jason, Jean and April; great-grandson Matthew and his sister Josie Kanderka of Calgary. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pierson's Funeral Home, 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E. KAPLAN - David Kaplan, beloved husband of Florence, passed away peacefully on November 30, 1997 at the Foothills Hospital. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, David moved to Calgary where he spent his retirement years. Besides his wife Florence, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Liz; daughter Sherrill; and grandchildren, Jessica, Laura, Charles, Nicholas and Daniel. David will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who's lives he touched. KATARIUS - Josephine (Jo) (nee Garland) passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on November 12, 1997. Jo was born on October 28, 1931 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was evacuated to Canada during the Second World War and after returning, graduated, trained and worked as a nurse and midwife in the Edinburgh area. Jo immigrated to Canada in 1955 and worked in various hospitals in Western Canada until she married in 1957. Later in life she received a BFA from the University of Calgary in 1979. Jo traveled extensively and remained active for several years prior to entering the Bethany Care Centre. Jo is survived by her husband Bill; children, Bryan of Kelowna, John of Calgary, Lori of Calgary, and Kathryn Radford and son-in-law John Radford of Calgary. Jo is also survived by six grandchildren; her mother Janet Garland of Edmonton; sister Kathleen Correia of Edmonton; and brother Bryan of Moncton, N.B. She was predeceased by her father William Garland in 1987 in Edmonton and daughter-in-law Ellen in 1997 in Kelowna, B.C. Jo was an energetic and creative person who will be dearly missed by all. Memorial tributes to the Calgary Alzheimer Society or other charitable organizations will be welcome. The family wishes to thank the Bethany Care Centre, most notably the staff on Level 6, for their tireless and loving support these past three years. KELLICUT - Bert Franklin, on July 9, 1997 in Saanichton, BC, beloved father of Arlene Jevning and Karen Garrett (Patrick). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Murray (Cheryl) Jevning, Curtis (Darlene) Jevning, David Jevning, Sean (Sue) Jevning, Shannon (Garrett) Peterson (Kevin), and Kelli Garrett. Bert also had eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred (Swenson) Kellicut; son Keith Kellicut; and son-in-law Red Jevning. Bert was born in Granum, Alberta on July 26, 1905. His family were ranchers and original owners of the Standard Garage in Granum where he worked as a mechanic. He later bought grain for the National Grain Co. and also the Alberta Wheat Pool. In the final years of his career he was in Public Relations for the Pool, which he enjoyed and where he made many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Granum United Church, Granum, Alberta on Wednesday, July 30, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Father James Schovanek officiating. A reception will follow the Memorial Service at the Blunden Hall in Granum. A private family Graveside Service with Interment will be held earlier in the day. KELLY - In loving memory of our beloved mother, Annie Christina Kelly, of Drumheller, who was called home to be with her Lord on June 19, 1997 at the age of 74 years and one day. Born June 18, 1923 at Jenner, Alberta, Annie was the second eldest of five children. Annie was predeceased by her beloved husband James N. Kelly in 1953, father Christian H. Nielsen in 1969, mother Mary E. Nielsen in 1984, brother Gordon in 1968, sister Margaret Jensen of Morrin, Alberta in 1973. She will be greatly missed by her children, David (Pat) Kelly of Redwood Meadows, Alberta, Mary-Ann (Gerald) Glubrecht of Sundre, Alberta, Stan Kelly of Red Deer; sisters, Evelyn (Joe) Marjoram of Calgary, Inez (Emil) Nociar of Langdon, Alberta; grandchildren, Chris (Leah), Travis (Dawn), Gordon, Karen, Kevin, Patrick (Christine), Steven, Daniel, Matthew, and Pamela; great-granddaughter Dalaura; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
