JESSIMAN - Thomas Lowe Jessiman of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Agape Manor Hospice on September 7, 1997 at the age of 77 years. Born on March 6, 1920 in Winnipeg, MB. Tom joined the Royal Canadian Navy serving on several warships in the North Atlantic during World War II. After the war Tom pursued a career in management with Fiberglas Canada Limited where he took up residence in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto and finally Calgary, where he retired in 1985. As a young man, Tom was revered for his fine athletic abilities, especially in the fields of speedskating, hockey, soccer and swimming. Throughout his life, Tom was an avid golf enthusiast who spent many winters in California and Florida perfecting his game. Tom's zest for life, sense of humor and charismatic personality endeared him to his many friends and family who will deeply miss him. Tom is survived by his wife Mary (nee Earl) of fifty-one years; his son John Jessiman and his wife Pat Ruby of Vancouver, BC; his daughter Jane Jessiman and her husband Bernie Bajnok of Calgary. His six grandchildren, Jesse, Andrew, Casey, Brady, Spencer and Kathleen, will forever remember their special Grandpa. Tom is also survived by three brothers, William Jessiman of Maple Ridge, BC, Duncan J. Jessiman of Winnipeg, MB, and Harvey Jessiman of Burlington, ON. A Memorial Service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Fish Creek Chapel" (14441 Bannister Road S.E.), on Friday, September 12, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Tom's family wishes to thank Dr. S.C. Lim and the nurses and staff of the Agape Manor for their care and support. DUFFY - Dermot Joseph Duffy Sr. passed away at the Kelowna General Hospital on December 27, 1997 at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife Philomena (Phil) of forty years; sons, Dermot, Edward (Lil); daughter Ann Marie; three grandchildren, Daniel, Adam and Tessa; three sisters in Ireland; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Alan, parents, five brothers and one sister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 750 North Rutland Road, Kelowna, B.C. with Father James Murphy as Celebrant. DUKE - Patricia Helen. Pat passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, around 12:30 a.m., December 4, 1997 after suffering an unexpected and acute cardiac episode on the evening of December 2. Born in Crandall, Manitoba on March 16, 1919, she was raised on the Prairies and later studied nursing at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, where she received her R.N. While in Ottawa she met and married Ronald L. (Ron) Duke and moved to Banff in 1945, living there ever since. Pat was a true mountain person with a great love of the outdoors, where she found peace, beauty and inspiration. Imbued with a strong sense of service, Pat came into contact with many people during her years as a nurse at the Mineral Springs Hospital, and through her volunteer work in the community with various groups, including the United Church, and the Banff Senior's Association. Pat will be greatly missed by her children, Jim (Lois) Duke of Calgary and granddaughter Natasha; Kathy (Reid) Campbell and grandchildren, Forrest, Michael and Jean of Invermere; and Dave (Deborah) Duke and granddaughter Jenna of Vernon; as well as many others near and far. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 1997 at Rundle Memorial United Church, 302 Buffalo Street in Banff. JOHNSON - Phyllis Mary (nee Wren) passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on November 23, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Born in Bristol, England, Phyllis moved to Canada in 1951. She enjoyed being a member of "Order of the Eastern Star" Centennial Chapter No. 136. Phyllis is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Les; three children, Raymond, Paul and Susan (Wayne); grandchildren, Cory, Kent and Lisa; and by her extended family in England. EDEY - Norman Roy Edey, a long time resident of Cayley and Nanton districts, passed away June 29, 1997. Norman was born August 22, 1915 at Cayley, Alberta. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Helen Edey and their family Deanna (Brad) Sicotte, Travis and Roxy Edey; his daughter Donna and Ralph Leavens and their family Lana and Pat Leavens. Norman was predeceased by his wife Christina on June 30, 1995. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at SNODGRASS Funeral Chapel, High River at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. R.W. EDINGER - Rolf Edinger passed away peacefully in Calgary on October 30, 1997 at the age of 71 years. Rolf will be sadly missed by his wife Maya. He was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1954. Rolf had a passion and love for skiing.
