Nellie was born in Calgary and lived all her life in Calgary as well. She is the loving mother of Barbara Ann Green of Taber, and Robert John (Jack) of Downie of Calgary; as well as seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. Nellie is predeceased by her husband Jack on March 8, 1987, her sister Ethel and her brother James. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on Tuesday, September 9, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. D. Murdo Marple of Knox Presbyterian Church officiating. DOWNING - Mrs. Mina Downing of Calgary, formerly of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully on May 25, 1997 at the age of 90 years. Mina is survived by her daughter Lenore (Alan) Caplan of Sherwood Park; her loving Grandsons, Steve (Monica) Eberwein, Mark Eberwein of Calgary, and Todd Eberwein of Sherwood Park. In her last years she was unable to see, her great-great-grandchildren, Jolene and Nancy Eberwein, Chris and Carrie Rundle, Gregory and John Eberwein truly lit up her life with their visits, she could feel the hugs. She is also survived by her sister Mary Wagness, her brother Ken Robertson and numerous nieces and nephews. Don Carlson, her husband's only nephew who spent many summers with Mina's family, was almost a son to Mina and remains a like a brother to Lenore. Jean and Ray Schmidt, her loving niece and nephew shared much time with Mina in her last years in Calgary. they treated her more like a friend than an aunt. Her husband Leonard predeceased her, as did brothers, Wib (Leila) Robertson, Net (Orva) Robertson, and brother-in-law Earl Wagness. Mina was widowed at forty-four years. She then taught school in Medicine Hat until she retired at sixty-five. An avid golfer and curler, she brought home the trophies. With three close friends, the "happy gang", she constantly traveled to play in bridge tournaments. No one knows how many pots they won, but they had fun. She loved bridge. At her request, she was cremated and there was no Funeral Service. Her family held a private celebration of Mina's life on June 2, 1997 in Calgary. She will be interred beside her late husband Leonard at a later date. In the words of her great-granddaughter Jolene: "Great Nana's in a better place now, where she can walk and she can see." DRUMMOND - Florence Elizabeth (Flo) Drummond (nee Richards) of Airdrie, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Friday, December 26, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Flo was born on June 19, 1914 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was the third youngest of eight children. Flo married Tom Drummond in 1936, living primarily in North Battleford, SK, before moving to Saskatoon in 1964. Following Tom's death in 1986, Flo moved to Calgary in 1987 to be closer to her two children, Donald and Joan. Flo is the loving mother of two children, Donald of Red Deer, and Joan and her husband Marcel Daoust of Calgary; three grandchildren, Leonard, Ross and Ryan Drummond of Red Deer. She is also survived by five sisters, Dorothy Richards of Regina, Irene Miller of Saskatoon, Mary Hotvedt of Abbotsford, B.C., Elsa Tackaberry of Edmonton, and Vi Marston of Elora, ON. Flo was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1986, her brother Herman Richards in 1992, and sister Ada Richards in 1997. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS and HOLLOWAY'S "Crowfoot Chapel", (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at a later date. DUBRAY - (nee Glennie) Josephine Naomi of the Southwood Nursing Home passed away on July 10, 1997 at the age of 76 years, beloved wife of Thomas Dubray, Calgary, and dear stepmother of Terry (Quinto) DiDiodoro, Calgary, Tom R. (Frances) Dubray, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jean (Fred) Syversen, Pincher Creek, Alberta. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews; sisters, Elsie Pennycock, Ivy Davies, Audrey Brown and brother Bruce Glennie, all of Calgary. She was predeceased by her father in 1969, mother in 1989, infant sister Isabella Glennie in 1921 and sisters, Grace Gill in 1976 and Jean Catling in 1988. Naomi was born June 18, 1921 in Asquith, Saskatchewan, received her education in Saskatoon. She later moved to Edmonton and then to Calgary. DUCHARME - Raymond, beloved husband of Barb of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 49 years. Besides his loving wife, Ray is also survived by his children, two sons, Rod and Chad, both of Calgary, and daughter Keri, also of Calgary; one sister Cecilia Bertetic (Carlo) of Kelowna, B.C.; four brothers, Paul of Toronto, ON, Tony (Dorothy) of Petersfield, MB, Murray (Sherry) of Calgary, Richard of Kelowna, BC; and sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Walter Tulman of The Pas, MB; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Tony and Mary Ducharme. The family of Ray Ducharme wish to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Unit 57 of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their care and compassion during his illness. EADY - Ellen Doris (nee Rach) passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on June 10, 1997. Born October 27, 1924 in Calgary, Alberta. Predeceased by her first child Janice in 1946. Ellen is lovingly survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Ted; her children, Brian (Sheena), Maureen (Jim), and Mike (Audrey); her grandchildren, Steve (Lisa), Sheryl, Christine, Matt, Dan, Jennifer (Graham), and Darrel (Judy); her great-grandchild Victoria; and her brother Edwin (Ane). Ellen enjoyed life with great enthusiasm and adventure. Ellen's delight and greatest loves were her family and her love for Jehovah God, where she put her complete trust. All who knew Ellen witnessed her strong will and conviction for living. With a positive attitude, despite her lengthy illness, she touched the hearts of all she met. EAGLE - Mrs. Dorothy (Amy) Eagle of Calgary, passed away at the George Boyack Nursing Home on December 21, 1997 at the age of 93 years. She was born in Renville, Minnesota, U.S.A. and came to Canada in 1922 to Gull Lake, Saskatchewan and later moved to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and also resided in Moose Jaw and Swift Current, Saskatchewan until moving to Calgary in 1950 and resided in Calgary since. Mrs. Eagle was employed as a housekeeper at Leyden's Funeral Home Ltd. for thirty-three years until her retirement. Mrs. Eagle is survived by two sons, Tommy Elmer Eagle, Calgary and Jack Melvin (Maureen) Eagle, Ottawa, Ontario; and one daughter Violina (Hector) Schneider, Medicine Hat, Alberta; as well as seven grandchildren, one brother and one sister in the United States. She was predeceased by her husband Sidney T. Eagle in 1990 and also by two brothers and four sisters. Funeral Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Friday, December 26, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Cremation will follow at Leyden's Bow Valley Crematorium and Inurnment will be in the family plot at Maple Creek Cemetery, Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.
