ABOUSSAFY - Mr. N.E. Frank Aboussafy passed away at the Foothills Hospital on July 22, 1997 at the age of 101 years. Frank was born in Lebanon on January 17, 1896 and settled in Canada in 1909. Frank and Marguerite were married in 1926 and resided in Wetaskiwin from 1926 to 1936 when they moved to Coleman where they purchased a general dry goods store. Frank was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club in Wetaskiwin. While in Coleman he served on many Federal, Provincial, Community and Service Clubs. Frank was Mayor and Councillor of Coleman for twenty-three consecutive years and during that period the town purchased the Light and Water Company subsequently eliminating town property taxes. Upon retiring they moved to Calgary in 1967 where they enjoyed a long and pleasant retirement. He is survived by a daughter Louise; a son and daughter-in-law, Edmund and Theresa; a sister Emeline of Wetaskiwin; as well as sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Frank is predeceased by his wife Marguerite Aboussafy on May 15, 1992. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 - 14 Street S.W.), on Friday, July 25, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, on Saturday, July 26, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Edward Flanagan, Celebrant. If friends so desire, donations can be made directly to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Society, 7475 Flint Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2H 1G3 or the Salvation Army, 1402 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2N 1B9. In living memory of Frank Aboussafy, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., CALGARY.

ABRAHAMSON - C. Ervin Abrahamson, beloved husband of the late Irene Abrahamson of Calgary, formerly of Nelson and Vancouver, passed away peacefully on June 24, 1997, at the age of 80 years. He is the loving father of one son and two daughters, Yvette (Ted) Swendson of Calgary, Yvonne (Shane) Hendra of Lac La Nonne, AB., Warren (Marcy) Abrahamson of Strathmore; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Should friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, T2G 1A2) would be greatly appreciated by the family. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. BIELECKI - Peter M. Bielecki, beloved 18 year old son of Mark and Jolanta Bielecki of Calgary, passed away in a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, October 22, 1997. Peter was born May 17, 1979 in Poland and came to Canada in 1982. He attended St. Joseph Elementary School, Cardinal Newman Junior High School, Bishop Grandin High School and was a student in Printing Management Technology at SAIT at the time of his death. Peter was a member of the Midsun Community Basketball Team and enjoyed all sports. One of Peter's favorite hobbies was sketching. Besides his loving parents, Peter is survived by his twin brother Paul; as well as his grandparents and extended family members. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.), on Monday, October 27, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. In living memory of Peter Bielecki, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E., CALGARY. BIGGAR - Robert Andrew Hamilton Biggar passed away at home in Strathmore on October 24, 1997 at the age of 76 years. Bob was born February 18, 1921 in Strathmore and has resided in the area most of his life. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred; his daughter Jane (Brian) Taylor; and son Terry (Donna); five grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Ed and Allen, and one daughter Linda. Funeral Service Tuesday, October 28, 1997 at Strathmore United Church at 1:00 p.m., Reverend Gil Arthur officiating. Interment Mountain View Memorial Gardens. If desired, memorials may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta. WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME LTD (Strathmore) in care of arrangements. (10/26/1997).

BILLS - Sandra Alice (nee Leach) passed away December 10, 1997 after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Funeral Services Saturday, December 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Covina, California (12/12/1997).

BINNIE - Malcolm Charles Binnie of Calgary, passed away at the Agape Manor Hospice on Thursday, October 23, 1997 at the age of 52 years. Announcements later by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. (10/24/1997).

BIRKBECK - Mrs. Catherine Birkbeck (nee Knox) passed away at the Cedars Villa Nursing Home on October 31, 1997 at the age of 96 years. Mrs. Birkbeck was born on September 30, 1901 at Aberdeen, Scotland and moved to Calgary in 1912 with her family. She married Lonsdale Birkbeck on February 6, 1925. She was a member of the Knox United Church, an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 1 and a member of the Army and Navy Airforce Veterans. She is survived by a daughter Lorraine Page; grandchildren, Dan Swick, Rhonda Nolte, Michael Page and Joe Page; great-grandchildren, Katie Swick, Lucas Nolte, Justin and Jason Page. She was predeceased by her husband Lonsdale Birkbeck in 1977 and her grandson Lon Swick in 1975. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on Tuesday, November 4, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Interment at Queen's Park Cemetery. BIRTLES - Blanshard (Birt) Birtles passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Tuesday, December 16, 1997 at the age of 80 years, after a brief struggle with cancer. He was predeceased by his loving wife Esme, with whom he spent many happy years. He is survived by his son Robert (Bob) Birtles; his daughter Sheila McLean; and his stepson Ken (Toby) Knight; his grandchildren, Teresa Rogers, Sandra Dalm, Spencer Villam and Heather Birtles. Funeral Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.), on Sunday, December 21, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1A2.
