Mrs. Hazel Strzelczyk of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2003 at the age of 86 years.
Hazel leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Allan Hurlburt of Edmonton, Wayne (Sharon) Hurlburt of Medicine Hat and Glen (Elaine) Hurlburt of Haines Junction, Yukon; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Hurlburt of Edmonton; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Verna) Bell of Salmon Arm; one sister, Dorothy Clarke of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her parents, Minnie and Jim Bell; her first husband, Raymond Hurlburt in 1948; her second husband, Theo Strzelczyk in 1986; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hurlburt in 1991; sister, Olga Rayner; and two brothers, Russell and Harold Bell.
Hazel was born in Plentywood, Montana on January 18th, 1917. The family moved to Clearfield, Saskatchewan in 1925. Hazel married Raymond Hurlburt in 1943 and farmed together, raising horses and cattle south of Radville, Saskatchewan. After Raymond's passing in 1948, the family moved to Radville, Saskatchewan and resided there until Hazel's marriage to Theo Strzelczyk, a rancher from Jenner, in 1961.
They farmed and ranched purebred Herefords until retiring in 1967. Hazel remained on the farm after Theo's passing in 1986. She moved to Medicine Hat in 1993 spending the last four years in South Country Village. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The Funeral Service was held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Medicine Hat, on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment followed in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery, Medicine Hat.

Curle
Mrs. Freda Curle of Bow Island, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ken Curle, passed away on Saturday, April 12th, 2003 at the age of 64 years.
Freda leaves to cherish her memory one son, Wayne Curle of Regina; two daughters, Connie (David Nause) Edlund of Calgary, and Sandra (Bruce) Veronelly of Brooks; four grandchildren, James, Adam, Scott and Kelsey; her mother, Elizabeth Klaschinsky of Humboldt, Saskatchewan; one brother, Daniel (Bea) Klaschinsky; and three sisters, Irene (Claus) Riedel, Vivian (John) Schymko and Brenda (Michael) Swytik, all from Saskatchewan; a special friend, Morgan Edlund; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Freda was predeceased by her father, Albert Klaschinsky; one brother, James Klaschinsky; one sister, Viola Berting; and one grandson, Joshua in 1990.
Freda was born on July 10th, 1938 in Carmel, Saskatchewan. She married Ken on April 18th, 1959 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. For many years Freda owned and operated her own restaurant and enjoyed being able to cook and bake for everyone. She enjoyed having company and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Bow Island Cemetery, Bow Island, on Wednesday, April 16th, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Family Plot.

Farrow
Farrow - Carol Margaret, nee Woolley, passed away peacefully at High River Hospital, April 15th, 2003 after a year long valiant struggle with cancer.
Born and educated in the Cornwall, Ontario area, she was the proud recipient of the Gold Medal for Proficency upon Graduation from the Salvation Army Grace Nursing Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario.
Carol nursed in Ottawa, Oshawa and Toronto before moving to Brooks, AB to continue nursing. She was predeceased by her first husband Stan and step-father Reginald Holmes and is survived by her husband Gerald (Jerry) Farrow, her mother Evelyn Holmes of Oshawa, ON and father Allen Woolley of Guelph, ON and by seven children and fourteen grandchildren from their blended families; Loreen Vanderkooy, husband Jeff, children Jeremy, Tosha and Tonya of Orangeville, ON, Brent Taylor, wife Corinne, children Kali and Mark of Hanna, AB, Greg Taylor, wife Lisa, children Alicia and John of Brooks, AB, Scott Taylor, wife Tracie of Calgary, Mike Farrow, wife Pam, children Brad, Austin and Lauren of Peace River, AB, Brad Taylor, wife Trina, sons Christopher and Carson of Brooks, AB, Michelle Gallup and children Aaron and Laura of Medicine Hat, AB.
She is also survived by her sister, Roxanne (Vic) Karaki of St. Albert, AB., brothers, Rick Holmes and Bill (Pat) Holmes of Oshawa, ON. Carol was proud to be a charter member of the Brooks Alliance Church and was a member of the High River Alliance. Always active with her children's activities, Carol was involved in sports, Guides, Kinnettes, Canadian Legion, T.O.P.S., Sunday School and Library. Carol loved to entertain and had the gift of hospitality and encouragement.
She also loved to go for walks with her dog Buddy and was an expert gardener. Carol always cared for others, particularly children and had a special interest in missions with great memories of her trip to Mexico with Samaritan's Purse.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 215 - 12th Ave. S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1A2 are requested. A memorial service was held at High River on Friday, April 18th. Arrangements in care of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME LTD., High River.

Amy Jean Monaghan, beloved daughter and loving sister, of Calgary, AB passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 30, 2007.
Our beloved Amy was born August 10, 2000 and passed away along with her father as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Golden, BC. Amy was in the second grade at the Dalhousie Elementary School Spanish Program, where she was loved by her teachers and many friends. Amy also delighted in participating in sports. She was a proud little ‘Dino’ for the University of Calgary Swim Club, and also loved skating, skiing, and gymnastics. Her infectious love and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
Amy is survived by her loving mother Jennifer; and brother Rylan who both know she is in heaven but miss her so much. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Herb and Pat Lede of Leduc, AB, her Uncle Mark and Aunt Kate of Toronto, ON; her Aunt Cathy and Uncle Henry; cousins Stephanie, Daniel, Renče, and Janine of Brooks, AB; and her Uncle Bob and Aunt Jennifer; cousins Tessa and Declan of Kelowna, BC; as well as many other friends and relatives. Amy was predeceased by her sister Kira Jean in 2000, and her paternal grandparents, Pat and Charles Monaghan of Brooks, AB.

Douglas (Doug) Charles Monaghan, beloved husband and loving father, of Calgary, AB passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 30, 2007.
Doug was born July 31, 1966 in Estevan, SK and passed away with his daughter Amy in a motor vehicle accident near Golden, B.C. Doug grew up in Brooks and graduated from BCHS in 1984. He graduated from the engineering program at the University of Calgary in 1988 and finished his MBA at the University of Western Ontario in 1992. He was an avid sports enthusiast and resourceful and devoted parent. Doug included his entire family in his enjoyment of sailing, skiing, hiking, boating, biking and camping. As Amy once wrote, “My favourite things to do with Dad are swimming, biking, reading books and being silly!”
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; and his five year old son, Rylan. He is also survived by his sister Cathy and her husband Henry; nieces and nephews Stephanie, Daniel, Renče, and Janine of Brooks, AB; his brother Bob and his wife Jennifer and their children, Tessa and Declan of Kelowna, BC; as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herb and Pat Lede of Leduc, AB; his brother and sister-in-law, Mark Lede and Kate Anderson of Toronto, ON; as well as many other friend, relatives, and business associates. Doug was predeceased by his daughter Kira Jean in 2000 and his parents Charles and Pat Monaghan of Brooks, Alberta.

RIETH
Rieth – Walter Harold Rieth, beloved husband of Kathy Rieth of Brooks, passed away peacefully following a brief battle with cancer in Brooks on January 9th, 2008 at the age of 61 years. Walter was born in Columbia, Missouri on November 13th, 1946 to parents Adele and Harold Rieth. He came to Ontario in 1968 and became a Canadian Citizen while living in Toronto. Walter later moved to Victoria and later settled in Alberta. He and Kathleen Martinyak, of Millicent, were married in 1980. Walter was a professed member of the Secular Order of Franciscans and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was active in parish activities and volunteered at many agencies through out the years. Walter was predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law Dick Gauggel and Roy Cooper and mother-in-law Helen Martinyak. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy of Brooks, his daughter Jennifor Bickmore and her husband Fred of Edmonton; 2 sons Byron and Todd of Brooks; brother Bob and his wife Sue of St. Charles, Illinois; sisters Marge Bradford and her husband John of Kansas City, Kansas and Kathy Cooper of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters-in-law Margaret Gauggel of Brooks and Helen Blower and her husband Al of Kelowna and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends. Prayer services will be held on Tuesday, January 15th at 7:00 PM from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Deacon Robert N.J. Wilson officiating. OSBOURNE
Marilyn Viola Osbourne of Brooks passed away in Brooks on March 1st, 2007 at the age of 47 years. Born in Bishop Falls, Newfoundland on June 24th, 1959 Marilyn received her education in Chatham, Ontario. She moved to Brooks in 1997 and worked as a waitress at the Starlite Restaurant until her passing. Marilyn loved her family, especially her 5 grandchildren, Angels, sunny days, sunsets and bonfires. She will be remembered for her smile, kind heart, her loving ways and her great sense of humour. Marilyn was predeceased by her father Andrew, sister Melissa and a niece Rachel. She is survived by her loving family, son Marcus and his 5 children all of Chatham; mother Thelma Hutchings of Chatham; 3 siblings Kathy Jondreau and her husband Rick of Brooks, Roger Hutchings of Chatham and Bradley Hutchings (Maxine Hailey) of Chatham; 5 nieces and nephews, Melissa, Ricky, Alyssa, Bradley, Jessica and numerous other family members.
