Eric William Hibbard died peacefully on December 20, 2003 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC; four days before his 93rd birthday. He is survived by his loving wife Edna of Victoria, sons Bill (Joy) and Dick (Elaine) of Edmonton, daughter Eileen (Tony) Blenman of Whitecourt, AB, son Dave (Janet) of Burnaby, sisters Betty (Ernie) Wood of Sechelt, BC and Dora (Bert) Wood of Qualicum Beach, BC, step-son Allan (Marilyn) Hibbard of Calgary, step-daughters Joan (Bernadette) Hibbard of Vancouver, Louise (Floyd) Joss of Lethbridge, and Linda Hibbard of Surrey, BC, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Hazel Lane, second wife Marjorie Davis, parents Ed and Bessie (Bell), brothers Ted (first husband of Marjorie Davis), Howard (Justine), and Bobby, and grandchildren Neil Hibbard in 1996, and Melanie Hibbard in 1997. Eric was born in Redvers, Saskatchewan, lived in Winnipeg and Brandon, then later moved to Victoria where he lived until 1929 when he joined his father and brothers as pioneer farmers near Peace River, Alberta. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1946 and was a pillar of the Nampa community and Nampa United Church. After Hazel died in 1973 he married Marjorie and retired to Victoria where he was active in the Elk Lake Baptist Church. After Marjorie’s death in 1992 he married Edna in 1994. He was an avid curler, fisherman and chorister until very recently. “Uncle Eric” is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. We will always remember his wry sense of humor. Donations may be made to the Elk Lake Baptist Church Building Fund or to the charity of your choice. There will be a memorial service on Saturday January 10, 2004 at Elk Lake Baptist Church in Victoria at 2 pm.
Gwenyth Neher, of Sherwood Park
NEHER, GWENYTH “Gwen” Rita. “All things bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all” Formerly of Longueuil and Lachine, Quebec. Born November 2, 1918, Montreal, Quebec, the youngest of 8 children. Passed away in her 86th year on, December 19, 2003 Sherwood Park, Alberta in the presence of her loving family members. Survived by her children; Howard (Suzanne) of Cote St. Luc, Quebec, Gwendy of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Heidi (Wayne) Read of Kittery, Maine and Charles (Karen) of Sherwood Park, Alberta and sister; Dorothy Baird of Norwood, Ontario, as well as her grandchildren; Norman, Christina, Charles, Patricia, Jordan and Tyler and great grandchildren; Emily, Tommy and Maddie. Predeceased by her husband Noward Norman Charles Neher and son Norman Peter Neher. Many sincere thanks to health care professionals and caregivers in Peace River and Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park, Alberta. Special thanks to Dr. Sean Cahill and the staff at Strathcona Care Centre, Sherwood Park. At Mom’s request no service will be held. Cremation has taken place. HARVIE, DOROTHY Elizabeth
Dorothy passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Dorothy Elizabeth Hoefling was born on February 26, 1924 in Castor, Alberta. The Hoeflings moved to Rocky Mountain House where she stayed until leaving for Edmonton. As a young woman, she worked for the Treasury Branches before meeting her future husband, the handsome sailor David. They were married November 22, 1947. They moved North to the Peace River Country and raised their family until 1958 when David took an opportunity at the U of A. She is survived by her sister Edith McKim, her children Ruth, Bob (Glenda), Edith, Dorothy Jean, and Art (De’el); her grandchildren Trent, Davin, Matthew, Elizabeth and Rance, and great-grandson Derek. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Daivd on October 27, 2003; her son-in-law Nelvert, and her great granddaughter Kaitlyn. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, December 22, 2003 at Hainstock’s Funeral Home 9810-34 Avenue at 1:00 pm. HARBARUK, ROGER
Mr. Roger Harbaruk, beloved husband and best friend of Mrs. Ingrid Harbaruk of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, December 30th, 2003 at the age of 68 years. Roger also leaves to cherish his memory one son, Darrell (Cathy) Harbaruk of Kelowna; two daughters, Kim (Ken) Kallenberger and Shelly (Len) Torgerson, all of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Steven, Scott, Jamie and Jennessa; his mother, Sadie Harbaruk of Medicine Hat; and one nephew, Kerry (Kathy) Campbell and their children, Michael and Suzanne of Banff. Roger was predeceased by his father, Kalm Harbaruk; his brother, William Harbaruk; and his sister, Marie (Willie) Paly. Roger was born of February 9th, 1935 in Rycroft, Alberta. On November 30th, 1956, he married Ingrid Priegert and together they made their home in various communities in Northern Alberta until 1974 when they moved to Medicine Hat. Roger became employed with Alberta Gas Chemicals until his retirement in 1986. Roger was an avid sports enthusiast; in his younger years it was playing baseball, golfing, curling and referring senior hockey. Roger was always an avid fan of both the Edmonton Eskimos and Oilers, he also enjoyed his many crib games with Ingrid; pastimes he enjoyed to the end. One of his favorite pastimes was playing crib with Ingrid, spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren which they were his pride and joy. Roger was never one to complain as he took each day in stride. The Funeral Service was held in Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, January 3rd, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Father David C. Meadows, officiating. Interment followed in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy those wishing to remember Mr. Roger Harbaruk may do so with a gift to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 631 Prospect Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4C2. Alexis Lionel Tinevez, of Pathlow, Saskatchewan
IN LOVING memory of Alexis Lionel Tinevez, born March 27, 1926 in Pathlow, Saskatchewan. He entered the fullness of life and joy in Christ on January 2, 2004 the glorious day of his reward. Alex was the gentlest and kindest of men who gave his whole heart to serve as Christ served. He pioneered a 1600 acre farm in Peace River, Alberta that he took pride in, and here raised his family. He worked tirelessly for his church and for anyone in need as well as countless projects he always had going. He was active in standing for justice in pro-life issues. He was a man of great honor and will always be in the hearts of his loving wife Marie, and children, Glen (Susan), Dale (Lynne), Jackie (Darcy), Sharlene, 5 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Marie and Jeanne as well as numerous friends and family. He will be greatly missed, but our reunion in Christ is soon coming. We await that day with eager expectation. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Kelowna, B.C. with Father Peter Tompkins officiating.
