BROOKER, Laurette - May 8, 1943 - September 10, 2017 Our hearts are beyond broken as we share the sudden passing of Mom and Memere, Laurette (Legault) Brooker of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. She passed away September 10, 2017, one day after what would have been their 50th anniversary while visiting family in Quebec. Left to mourn are her children Mona (Darren) Boutin of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Jerry Brooker of Sherwood Park, AB; grandchildren Darcy Boutin of Fort Saskatchewan and Shaun Boutin (Brittany Thackray) of Edmonton, AB; brothers Luc and Alfred Legault; sisters Elva Martel and Anita Peters; sister-in-law Sharon (Dave) Barker as well as numerous nieces, nephews and so very many friends. Laurette is predeceased by her husband Barrie who passed away in May 2017, son Dennis, parents Albe and Yvonne Legault, father-in-law Walter and mother-in-law Irene Brooker. She was fondly known as 'Mom' to many and for her positive, genuine, loving and compassionate nature, love of family and friends, quick smile, infectious laugh and warm hugs. Mom had an ability to see the positive in everything and everyone. She provided endless love and support to Dad. She was an elementary teacher for many years in Fort Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray and Manitoba. She loved an adventure, time with the many people she cared about and children. She believed there was good in everyone and had a very strong faith. Mom had an amazing ability to light up a room with just her presence. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm October 16 at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Fort Saskatchewan, AB and 1pm October 21 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Elie, MB where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory can be made to Alzheimer's Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Fort Saskatchewan Boys and Girls Club. Heaven's gain is our loss. Bonsoir, bonne nuit, maman chérie.
