- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -HELWIG -- Hugh, beloved husband of Alice Helwig of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on November 25, 1997 at the age of 85 years. He is the loving father of Ardith (Joe) Grassl of Calgary. Hugh is also survived by four grandchildren, Blayne Grassl, Adele (Dennis) Motyer, Charlene Westwell, all of Calgary, and Shaun (Connie) Grassl of Abbotsford, B.C.; as well as his sister Ruth (Ed) Zimmerman of Olds and brother Louie (Maggie) of Lodi, California. He was predeceased by his son Milton, three sisters and five brothers. Hugh was an avid fisherman and dearly loved his church where he worked for many years with the seniors. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. HESSELGRAVE -- Ethel Hesselgrave, passed away peacefully at the Forest Grove Care Centre on November 25, 1997 at the age of 96 years. Ethel will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Joyce Booth of Airdrie and Sheila Shortt of Calgary; and one son Edward (Ted) and his wife Joan of Penticton, B.C.; as well as by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1937, her daughter Madge and her son Robert. JOHNSON -- Phyllis Mary (nee Wren) passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on November 23, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Born in Bristol, England, Phyllis moved to Canada in 1951. She enjoyed being a member of "Order of the Eastern Star" Centennial Chapter No. 136. Phyllis is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Les; three children, Raymond, Paul and Susan (Wayne); grandchildren, Cory, Kent and Lisa; and by her extended family in England. McLEAN -- Wynne McLean of Winnipeg passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Wednesday, November 26, `997 at the age of 81 years. Wynne is survived by her loving family, daughters, Ellen Perrault (Lyle) of Calgary, Lynne Bear (Gerald) of Armstrong, B.C.; sons, Kenneth McLean (Dorothy), Donald McLean (Linda) of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Inez Holtman (Harold) of Abbottsford, B.C., Edna Robertson of Winnipeg; brothers, Allen Dawson (Gloria) of Chilliwack, B.C., Oscar Dawson (Tina) of Stonewall, Manitoba, and numerous other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. MaCrae and the staff of Unit 112 at the Foothills Hospital for their care and compassion. At Wynnes's request no formal services will be held. NICHOLLS -- Mr. Joseph Henry Nicholls, passed away at the Rosefield Center, Innisfail on November 25,1 997 at the age of 90 years. Joe was born in Blackpool, Lanceshire, England and immigrated to Canada at the age of 21. Joe spent most of his life in the Carseland area before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours tramping the banks of the Bow River. He was a charter member of the Carseland Lions Club. After retiring from the county of Wheatland, Joe spent a @'few years' on Vancouver Island before returning to Strathmore, AB. Joe is survived by five sons, Allan (Francis) of Grand Cache, Danny (Lucy) of Vernon, B.C., Rodney (Delores) of Vernon, B.C.; two daughters, Wilda Wenstrom of Calgary, Glenda (Dale) Severtson of Spruce View, AB. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife Esther Lillian in 1976.
