Odegard - Mrs. Edna Ethel Odegard of Camrose passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at the age of 82 years. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children Ethel (Mike) Olstad of Camrose; Robert (Kathy) of Edmonton; Mickey (Debra) of Edmonton; Judy (Donald) Durand of Camrose; and David (Laurie) of Stony Plain; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two brothers Alf and Harry of England; numerous relatives and friends. Edna was predeceased by her husband Edward. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, May 17 at 11 a.m. from Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Bethany Long Term Care Centre. Burgar Funeral Home Camrose in care of arrangements. 672-2121.
CUNNINGHAM, Jean Agnes (nee Elliott) of Calgary, Alberta, formerly of Belleville, Ontario
August 4, 1927 – Deloro, ON – August 29, 2014 – Calgary, AB
Jean passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital with her daughters by her side. She is survived by her daughters Maggie (Sandy) of Calgary and Janet of Vancouver, her grandchildren Haley, Owen, Olivia, Amanda, and Brooke, great-grand daughter Avery, sister Mary, sister-in-law, Mary and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband Alex, sons Sandy and Rob, father Robert, mother Gladys, and brother Robert. Jean was born in Deloro, Ontario where her father was the General Manager of the Deloro Smelting and Refining Company and village Reeve. After her father’s death in 1944, the family moved to Belleville, ON where Jean was a proud graduate of Belleville Collegiate Institute. After graduation, Jean attended nursing school at Belleville General Hospital. Jean went on a blind date for her BGH graduation with Alexander Cunningham and they were married a few months later on April 6th, 1950. They were happily married for 45 years until Alex’s death in 1995. Jean joined the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) in 1966, which led to her career in adoption services. Following her retirement from CAS after 26 years, Jean founded Four Counties Adoption Agency, which she continued to own and operate until age 75. Jean helped complete many loving families through her work in adoptions. Her lifelong love of babies and children led her west to Calgary in November 2002 to be closer to her grandchildren in Calgary, Vancouver and Quesnel.
There will be a celebration of Jean’s life on Friday, September 26th, at 1pm at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira St. West (613-968-2273). Following the service there will be a reception for family and friends at the Steele Family Centre. Private Inurnment at Belleville Cemetery.
The family wants to thank Dr. Tammy Calder and the staff of Unit 73 at the Rockyview Hospital for their compassionate care for Jean during her final weeks. Thanks also to the caring staff at Cedar’s Villa, Willow Unit for their wonderful care over the last 8 years.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Belleville General Hospital Foundation.

TOLMAN, Sherman Lloyd – Went to be with his Lord and Saviour from the Elgin Manor on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the age of 96. Born again September 1951. Loving husband of Doris (nee Hunter) for 71 years. Father of Jeff (Marilyn) Tolman, Nancy (Nelson) Butler, John (Nancy) Tolman and Elisabeth John, all of St. Thomas. Proud grandfather of Jennifer Tolman of Halifax, NS, Dan (Lana) Tolman of Charlottetown, PE, Ben (Kellie) Butler of Boxall, Lois Butler of Niagara Falls, Joe (Michelle) Butler of Fingal, Sarah (Brian) Holmes of St. Thomas, Christopher (Jaclyn) Tolman of Edmonton, AB, Stefanie (Brian) Cox of Halifax, NS, Andrew John of St. Thomas and Michael John of St. Thomas. Also missed by several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Born near Rumsey, AB, on October 19, 1918, Lloyd came to Ontario with the RCAF during the war, married Doris in 1944 and never left. He had his own construction company, worked as foreman with the CNR for 10 years and then in machine setup and repair for Hayes Dana for 20 years. “He could fix anything”. Friends will be received at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas, Ont. (519-631-0570) from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM, Monday, June 15, 2015. The funeral service will be held at the St. Thomas Gospel Hall, 1 Sunset Drive, St. Thomas at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16. Interment in the Hunter Cemetery, Lake Road, Southwold. Memorial contributions to charity of choice, Gospel Trust Canada or St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital would be appreciated.
