ELSAESSER -- Eldon Manfred passed away at the Foothills Hospital on October 23, 1997 at the age of 35 years.
Eldon is survived by his loving mother Grace Elsaesser; his brother Derek and sister-in-law Nancy of Ottawa; his brother Scott of Calgary; his maternal grandmother Anne Kerychuk of Edmonton; his favorite Aunts, Pearl Tremblay of Chapleau, Ontario and Shirley Wiwad of Edmonton; his Uncle Ray Wiwad; and his "adopted" Aunt and Uncle, Phyllis and Cyril Britton of Canoe, BC.
He is also survived by his many friends who will miss him, especially at the Karaoke Bars.
Eldon was predeceased by his father Manfred in 1973.
Eldon graduated from James Fowler High School in 1981 and spent most of his working life as a driver or salesman of a variety of vehicles.
He loved cars and car racing.
He was also a lifelong Star Trek fan and had a substantial collection of memorabilia, and hundreds of books and video tapes of all the television series and movies. Following the Cremation, a Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 1997 at FOSTER'S FUNERAL HOMES "Garden Chapel" at 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary.
All of Eldon's friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary T2G 1A2.

GINGRAS -- Louise Olivine Gingras (nee Janex) passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family on October 22, 1997 at the age of 80 years, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Louise was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Bruce) Sutherland, Philip Gingras and Sharron Kuiper, Diane (Bob) Stewart, Lorraine Cooper and Michael (Dallas) Gingras; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Louise resided in the Blackie area for many years before moving to Brooks in 1968.
She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League and was recently distinguished with a fifty year pin and certificate.
Louise was predeceased by her husband Adrien in 1959 and a brother Joe in 1978.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers on Sunday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church, 511 - 4 Street West, Brooks.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Mary's, the Rev. Bryan Frank, Celebrant.
If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Holy Family Academy, 108 - 4 Avenue West, Brooks T1R 0V6 or the Brooks and District Ambulance Association, Box 1906, Brooks T1R 1C6.

GREENBERG -- Mrs. Sally Greenberg of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on October 21, 1997 at the age of 80 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, businesswoman and care-giver.
Sally is survived by her son Gordon; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth and Cliff Secter of Calgary, Alice and Bill Abells of Edmonton, and Lavern Gelmon of Vancouver; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Morris.
Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 - 17 Avenue S.W.), on Sunday, October 26, 1997 at 2:00 p.m.
Interment to follow at the Jewish Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.).
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor's choice.

HOOKHAM -- Roy Hugh, born in Toronto, Ontario, December 18, 1924, passed away on October 19, 1997 at home.
He was the last born of three sons, to his late parents, Joseph James Hookham and Jessie Florence Hookham, eldest daughter of Colonel Frederick Charles Denison (Rusholme Branch in Toronto, Ontario).
Roy was educated in Ontario at Alexander Muir School and Central Technical School.
In 1942 he joined the R.C.A.F. as a Wireless Air Gunner and served in World War II at Manning Depot, Toronto, Pre Air Education Department in Guelph, Wireless School No. 2, Calgary, Alberta, Bombing and Gunnery School, Paulson, Manitoba and he graduated with the rank of Sergeant.
He was transferred to Chatham, N.B., No. 10 Air Observer School and then overseas to England.
He obtained an honorable discharge in February, 1946.
In 1947, Dorothy and Roy were married and he assisted in raising their children.
He joined the No. 1 Legion in 1948 and served with the poppy campaign for quite a number of years and recently had been serving as a Deputy Returning Officer for the Branch Elections.
As well, he started employment at the City of Calgary as a clerk in the collections office of the Utilities Building.
In the early 1950's he was moved into Data Processing where he was responsible for the set up of the department.
Later, he joined the National Machine Accounting Association and was a chartered member and eventually president.
In 1962, he joined the Calgary Amateur Radio Association and graduated as an Amateur Radio Operator with the call letters VE6ALS, later to have the call letters VE6RH which he held to date.
He graduated from S.A.I.T. as an Advanced Radio Operator in 1964 with full operating privileges on the Amateur Radio frequency spectrum.
While with the C.A.R.A. he served as treasurer, QSL manager, Publisher of Key-Klix and was granted a Life Membership in the association in November, 1973.
Since that time, he was actively involved in many aspects of amateur radio functions, including Treasurer of Caratels.
That year, he undertook the complete responsibility to place Ham Operators in approximately twenty polling stations throughout Calgary to report Municipal Elections results to City Hall and out to the news media.
In 1986, for the very first time all one hundred and ninety polling stations had radio operators assigned to report results to the news media.
Upon retiring in January 1980, after serving thirty-two years and credited with over three years of active combat service during World War II, he attained the required combination of age fifty-five with thirty-five years service.
In 1986, after retiring he set up a retirees luncheon for Data Processing members.
He loved Math problems and worked hard at solving them quickly which gave him pleasure.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; his only brother Earle (Audrey); his five children, Katherine, Karen (Terry), Dave, Wayne and Ginny (Ron); his grandchildren, Linda, Robert, Rick, Scott, Mathew, Jeremy and Trevor; and great-granddaughters, Cayla, Samantha and Leah.
On behalf of Roy, the family would like to sincerely thank the Rockyview Hospital staff for their support and especially Mary for her support for Roy and our family.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ward 58 of the Rockyview Hospital, 7007 - 14 Street S.W., Calgary, AB, T2V 1P9, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, T2G 3Y6 or to St. John's Cemetery on the Humber c/o K. Alice Edwards, 148 White Boulevard, Thornhill, Ontario, Canada, L4J 5Y7. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church (1802 - 33 Avenue S.W.), on Friday, October 24, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Birch officiating.
Cremation will follow at Leyden's "Bow Valley Crematorium".
Inurnment to be in St. John's Cemetery on the Humber in a private family Heritage Site, Toronto, Ontario.
