Elgin Westling, of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at the age of 86 years. Elgin will be lovingly remembered by: his daughter Merilyn Smith, granddaughter Connie (Reuben) Jakab, brothers Floyd Westling and Cecil (Faye) Westling and numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Jeanette Westling in 2004, son-in-law Chris Smith and brothers Vernon Westling and Leslie Westling. Kuhn - Deborah, beloved wife of Mr. Brian Kuhn of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home, after a courageous 12 year battle with cancer, surrounded by her family on July 28, 2006, at the age of 50 years. Debbie was a loving mother and friend and will be lovingly remembered by her children: Nolan Kuhn (Pam Kearns) and Breanne Kuhn and granddaughter Isabella. Born and raised in Calgary, Debbie attended St. Mary’s high school. After graduating, she worked for Telus for 25 years. She married Brian in 1974. Debbie was a extraordinary friend to many. Sharon Lynn Scheuchner (Snape)

Our beloved Sharon received her angel wings on Saturday, July 29, 2006. Sharon was born on December 7, 1951 in Bassano, AB to William and Ferne Snape. She grew up in Brooks and Rolling Hills and finished high school in Medicine Hat. Sharon married the love of her life Allen Scheuchner in February of 1972. In 1973, Sharon and Allen began taking in foster children and soon knew this to be their calling. They adopted Ralphine and Todd in 1978, Shaun in 1981 and David in 1984. Along with these children now as their own, they began their career devoted to the care of handicapped clients who came to love Sharon and Allen unconditionally. Sharon began her 14 year battle with cancer in 1992. Ever dignified and strong, Sharon faced her illness with a brave heart and positive outlook. Left to mourn her loss is her loving husband Allen, children, Ralphine (John) Gibbons, granddaughter Hope, sons Todd and David Scheuchner, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Norma (Rand) Berg of Brooks, AB, brother Bruce (Marion) Snape of Duchess, special sister-in-law Judy (Buzz) Buijs of Grand Prairie, Allen’s family, mother Blanche Scheuchner and sister Hazel (Don) Snyder all of Ponoka. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces , nephews and wonderful friends will dearly miss her. Sharon is predeceased by her parents William and Ferne Snape, her beloved son Shaun and father-in-law Dan Scheuchner. Special thanks to Dr. Webster and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Doreen McKinnon of Home Care, Ann McBeath and Wendy Johnson of We Care Home Care. Also a heartfelt thanks to all those at Hospice Calgary for the love and care shown to Sharon. Habberfield, Kathryn Leslie

Kathryn took the hand of God on July 28, 2006. She died as she lived, with dignity and grace. Kathryn will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sharon (Wayne) Bazant of Langley, BC and Elaine (Chris) Deeg of Strathmore, AB; grandchildren, Colin, Lara, Derek, Dana and Elyse as well as her sisters Edna Wallace and Frances Ferguson. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1978, her sister Dorothy in 2005. She began life ranching in Alderson, Alberta and her marriage to Gordon took her to Langdon to farm in 1948. They were one of the original families to bring Red Angus cattle to Alberta. Kathryn was proud to have served as President of the Alberta Women’s Institutes as well to have been a founding member of the Alberta Advisory Council on Women’s Issues. After many years on the farm, she retired to the Courtyard in Strathmore in 2000. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Friday, August 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM.
