HINGER - Victor John, loving husband, father and grandfather, tradesman, businessman, musician, mentor and motivator passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family members on June 18, 2000, at the age of 64 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Victor was born on May 5, 1936 in Goodsoil, Sask., eldest son of Carl Hinger and Annie Degenhardt. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Agnes. Victor (Vic) is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Madalin; his son Reynold (Susan) and granddaughter Kara Hinger; his daughter Patty (Richard Johansen) and grandsons Craig and Robbie Johansen; his son Robert (Shirley) and grandchildren, Sharleen, Melinda and Jordan Hinger; his daughter Cindy (Barry Hilton) and grandsons, Chris and Stephen Hilton; and his daughter Marie and grandchildren Corrine, Candice and James Lang. Vigil Service will be held at the WHEATLAND FUNERAL CHAPEL, 202 Lakeside Boulevard, Strathmore, Alberta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2000. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 5552 Madigan Drive N.E., Calgary, Alberta with Rev. Edmund F. Vargas as Celebrant. Interment and reception to follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, 17 Avenue S.E. and Garden Road, Calgary, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

JOHNSON - Mr. Roy Harold Johnson, beloved husband of the late Pearl Johnson, passed away on June 16, 2000 at the age of 79. He is the beloved father of Marlin (Anita), Lynn (Terry), Ross, Terry (Trish) and Carol (Derrick); and five grandchildren, Zak, Tiffany, Travis, Dylan and Mason. Harold was predeceased by his sister Alice Gardner and his brothers Arthur, Walter and Milton Johnson. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was born September 30, 1920, raised in the Delacour area and attended SAIT. On December 3, 1941 Harold enlisted in the RCAF, which took him to postings in North Sydney, NS, Goose Bay, Labrador, Vancouver, Tofino and Marble Island, BC, during which time he attained the rank of Sergeant. Upon his discharge, Harold promptly went to work as a diesel mechanic for Union Tractor where he met his wife Pearl. They married in 1951 and enjoyed thirty-two plus years of harmonious marriage until Pearl's passing in 1984. In 1974, Harold opened his own business 'Machine Service' from which he retired in 1986. He enjoyed working with his hands and mind, building/fixing things, took pride in being Canadian, cherished his friendships old and new and loved to be surrounded by family. He will be dearly missed. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, on Tuesday, June 20 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W. KIRKALDY - George Kirkaldy, passed away June 17, 2000 at the Colonel Belcher Veterans Care Centre at the age of 85. George was born in Dundee, Scotland, in 1914 and immigrated to Canada in 1930. He served in the Calgary Highlanders during World War II and returned to Calgary in 1946. His wife Mae predeceased him in 1992. He is survived by two sons, Glenn (Margaret) and Ronald (Anne); and by four grandchildren, Andrew (Gwynn), Owen, Ewan and Allison. Memorial Service details will be announced at a later date. MacEWAN - The Honourable Dr. J.W. Grant MacEwan, O.C., LL.D., teacher, author, editor, agriculturalist, livestock judge, horse breeder, columnist, mentor, scholar, lecturer, speaker, alderman, mayor, legislator, lieutenant-governor and above all, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died peacefully at his home June 15, 2000, aged 97 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Bertha MacEwan, his siblings, George and Agnes, and by his wife of many years, Phyllis Cline MacEwan. He is survived by his only daughter, Heather MacEwan-Foran, his son-in-law Maxwell Foran; his granddaughters, Fiona Foran and Lynwyn Foran-Aebli; his grandsons-in-law, Lee Shedden and Wally Aebli; and his great-grandchildren, Raine Shedden and Kelsey and Alexander Aebli. MacEWEN - Bernice MacEwen passed away at the Agape Hospice on Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the age of 72. Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Lynne Marr of Calgary and Cynthia Ellen Rosolowski (Henry) of Ste. Anne, Manitoba; her grandchildren, Todd, Bonnie and Shannon Marr and Karla and Tracy Rosolowski. MUSGREAVE - Eric Charles Musgreave, died on Friday, June 16, 2000, after an active life of service to his community and province. Eric was born in Condor, Alberta, on July 21, 1921. His formative years were spent in Calgary in the Victoria Park district. After attending Western Canada High School, he served with the RCAF from 1939 to 1945. In 1942 Eric married his wife and lifelong companion Betty. The road they traveled together led them through Newfoundland and to Ottawa, where Eric completed his Bachelor of Commerce at Carleton. Eric and Betty moved to Calgary in 1951. He was employed by Imperial Oil for the next twenty-five years. Eric became involved with the Rosemont Community and served as president of the Centennial Ravine Park Society. Confederation Park was the result and its opening in 1967 was an occasion of great pride for Eric. He was awarded the Jaycee Citizen of the Year for 1967 for his efforts. Eric moved into civic politics as an Alderman from 1967 to 1974 and then into provincial service as the MLA for Calgary McKnight, from 1975 to 1989. Eric was active throughout his life, enjoying gardening, reading, traveling and meeting with The Knights of the Round Table. Above all, Eric enjoyed being with people. Eric will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Eric is survived by his wife Betty; children, Peter (Patty) of Port Perry, Diane (Lawrie Mack), Keith (Deanna) of Calgary, and Neil (Kathy) of Castlegar; four grandchildren, Lara, Leland, Kelsey and Shaylan; and sisters, Irene (Cliff Thomas) and Mary (Donald Nicholson). RIMBEY - Leslie Jacob Rimbey passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on June 17, 2000 at the age of 89 years. He lost a son, Roger to cancer in 1990. Leslie is survived by a daughter Duane Marie (James) McLauchlan; a daughter-in-law; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Victor.
