Death Notice (05/10/00)
WILKINSON - (nee Smeaton), Mary McAulay, died peacefully at Rosedale Hospice on May 8, 2000 at the age of 63. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband John, her six children: Christopher (Suzanne), Cherylanne (Carlo), Donna, Murray, Samantha (Brad), Fiona and seven grandchildren: Joni, Ian, Haley, Andrew, Simone, Eric, and JeanLuc. She is also survived by her brother Peter and two sisters Henrietta and Helen, and numerous nieces and nephews in England. Mary was a teacher and used this gift to help many children. She was very involved with the Presbyterian Church in Canada and its mission. She was an active member of the Presbytery of Calgary-MacLeod providing support for its ministers for many years. Her many friends will remember her as one who gave of herself willingly and who always had an ear to listen and shoulder to cry on. Mary felt truly blessed to have the support of so many as she struggled with her cancer. Special thanks to Dr. R. MacDonald, her many specialists and nurses at Foothills Hospital, Renata, Carol, Suzie, Catherine and Marlene from Home Care, her nurses from WeCare and all of the special people who loved and cared for her at Rosedale Hospice. A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at Chalmers Presbyterian Church, 2316 Edmonton Trail N.E. on Thursday, May 11, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Inn from the Cold" c/o St Giles Presbyterian Church or Rosedale Hospice.

ZIEBARTH - Ray Otto Ziebarth, of Calgary, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at the age of 70 years. Ray was survived by his loving daughter Jennifer (Greg) Hagel; his only son Michael (Ruby) Taylor and their three young children, and his former wife Betty Taylor, all of Calgary. He also leaves to mourn, his brother Nelson (Agnes) Ziebarth and nephews and nieces in Saskatchewan and Ontario. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Esther Ziebarth and his sister Ethel (Aurele) Auger. He was born in Eganville, Ontario, and came to Calgary in 1964. Ray worked for over twenty-five years as a Barber at Lakeview Barbershop. An informal reception will be held at Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 7016 Farrell Road S.E., Calgary, on Friday, May 12, 2000, between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ray's memory to the Salvation Army, 330, 1015 - 4 Street S.W., Calgary, AB T2R 1J4. ANTONY - Mr. Andrew (Andy) Antony of High River, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on December 31, 2000 at the age of 81 years. Andy was born on October 5, 1919 in Sanok, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1936. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Andy was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, an avid golfer and loved to dance. Since his retirement as an electrical contractor, he was involved in several businesses and was always busy with numerous projects. Andy is survived by Wayne and Elizabeth, Ray and Colleen, Bernice and Harry, Marilyn, Tina and Chuck, and David and Deanna; and his brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Ida. Andy has joined his son-in-law John who passed away in September 2000. He is the loving grandfather of thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, Arthur, Devin, Stefan, Anton, Janelle, Shaun, Cheneil, Ceegan, Jasper, Rachel, Hannah, and Madeline. He will be missed forever by his loving daughter Helen Perry; and son Archie (Shirley) Burndred; his grandchildren, Tammi (Todd) Chudak, Trevor (Donna) Burndred, Travis (Shannon) Burndred, Robyn Perry, Michael Perry; and longtime friend Patricia Walker. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Bryce, Cara and Kayli. James was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1989. Jim proudly served his country in the Second World War and recently received his Seventy-Five Year Medal of Honour from the Ogden Legion. CHAMBERS - Edward (Ted) Davidson It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ted Chambers, peacefully at his home on Monday, January 1, 2001. Ted was born in Wyke Regis, Weymouth in England and emigrated with his young family to Canada in 1975. Over the years he worked at the City of Calgary, Maclins, Universal and the past twelve years as a District Manager for ITB. Ted was known for his loyalty, honesty and hard work, traits which he respected in others. He enjoyed sailing and was also known as a "Mr. Fix-it". Besides his loving wife Carole and her children, he will be greatly missed by his sons, Paul and Scott; ex-wife Linda; relatives in England, and numerous friends and business associates. CLARKE - Roper Gordon Clarke of Calgary, surrounded by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2000 at the age of 82 years. Roper is lovingly remembered by Iona, his companion and friend of fourteen years; his two sons, Dean and Blair; and his adoring grandchildren, Mitchell and Andrea. Born in Calgary on December 28, 1918, he served with distinction in the Canadian Military from 1939 to 1946. He returned to run the family business with his brother Eric and later with his son, Blair and nephew, Eric Jr. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners for many years.
