DESPINS - Bernard Despins of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Sunday, December 31, 2000 at the age of 73 years. He worked at and later owned Despins' Hardware. His later years were in construction, specializing in glassworks. He was a member of Sainte Famille Parish and sang with the church choir. He was on the board of the French Credit Union as well as the French Housing Co-operative. He was also a member of the Societe Franco-Canadien de Calgary, camped at their Parc Beauchemin. He was a founding member of Voix des Rocheuses Chorus; and of the Seniors' Club de l'amitie. He spent sixteen years as a fund-raising volunteer to build their new church. Bernard loved to travel and play bridge. He leaves to mourn, his wife of forty-five years, Yvette Lord; two daughters, Lorraine and Gisele; three sons, Roger (Val), Marc, Philippe (Vicki); seven grandchildren; one brother Gilbert; one sister Carmel (Rudy Klassen); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one infant son, his parents, Jules and Adel Despins, and two brothers, Laurent and Clement. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sainte-Famille Parish (1717 - 5 Street S.W.) on Thursday, January 4, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta (1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 3Y6). DIXON - Kathleen Dixon, born 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts, died suddenly January 2, 2001. Kaye is survived by her loving husband Jack; and three children, Carol Webb (Gary), Nancy Hoveland (Curtis), Mark Dixon (Marlene); four grandchildren, Graeme, Cameron, Lorne and Beth; and four step-grandchildren, Liana, Andrew, Shaun and Ryan.

EBERHARDT - Evelyn Doreen Eberhardt, after reaching her 70th year, passed away January 2, 2001 at the Glenmore Park Palliative Care, Calgary. She is survived by a son Brock of Calgary and his family, Karina, Dana and Kristin; two sisters, Sussie, Georgina (Erhard); three nieces, Cathy (Greg), Deanna (John), Sandy (Trevor); one nephew Randy (Lue); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her special friend Laurie. Evelyn was born in Medicine Hat, and later moved to Calgary. Special thank you to the staff of the Glenmore Park Palliative Care Unit. At Evelyn's request there will be no Funeral Services. ELLIOTT - William (Bill) Franklyn Elliott, beloved husband of Margaret Jane, passed away peacefully at the Southwood Care Centre in Calgary on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at the age of 74 years. Bill is survived by his three children, Clarke (Launi) Elliott, Leslie (Martin) Barnes and David (Lynn Cameron) Elliott. "Pama" will be greatly missed by his five granddaughters, Jana-Lynn and Jennifer Elliott, Katherine Barnes, and Chelsea and Megan Elliott. Bill is also survived by two sisters, Kathleen (Paul) Russom of Bakersfield, CA, and Keitha Morrison of Calgary. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Blanche Elliott of Moose Jaw, SK; and a sister Patricia Horner. Bill was born at Tuxford, SK, on January 25, 1926 and served in the Armed Forces during World War II. He began a thirty-two year career with BA/Gulf Canada in Regina, relocating to Calgary in 1960. His passions included his five granddaughters, his love of baseball and his dedication to volunteer activities. Special thanks to the caregivers at Southwood Care Centre as well as Drs. Bruce Wright and Christin Hilbert, and the staff of the Rockyview Hospital, Unit 58. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4 Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen's Park Cemetery), on Saturday, January 6, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Bray officiating. GUDERJAN - Helene Guderjan passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on December 30, 2000 at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolf in 1990 and three infant children. Helene will be lovingly remembered by her family, Hilde Umbsaar, Gertrud (Walter) Savi, Helmut (Karin) Guderjan, Annie (Alfred) Wirth; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister and numerous relatives and friends. JENSEN - Mr. Poul Kjar Jensen of Calgary, passed away on May 23, 2000 at the age of 55 years. Poul was born on September 21, 1944 in Vedbaek Copenhagen, Denmark. He moved to Calgry in 1967. Poul is survived by three sons, Dan Petersen of Denmark, Stephen (Kelie) Jensen of New Zealand and Ryan Jensen of Calgary; his parents, Ejler and Karen Jensen of Skodsborg, Denmark; and a brother Stig Jensen of Fyn, Denmark. KASCHUK - Mary Georgina Kaschuk passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Monday, May 22, 2000 at the age of 71 years. Born October 4, 1928 in Berwyn, Alberta. Mary is survived by her husband and companion George; her mother-in-law Annie Kaschuk; daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Allen Hobbs; grandchildren,Kim, Wes, Rachel and Lucas; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Laurie (Baines) Kaschuk; granddaughter Ali; sisters, Eileen (McQuarrie) Manzer of Peace River, Alberta, and Dorothy and Fred (McQuarrie) Gallagher of Medicine Hat, Alberta; brothers, Gordon and Ruth McQuarrie of Manning, Alberta and Bill and Maxine McQuarrie of Moosomin, Saskatchewan; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was predeceased by her father George McQuarrie in 1987 and by her mother Annie McQuarrie in 1988, as well as by a grandson Jay Hobbs in 1989.
