OLESEK, Frank On Friday, March 3, 2000, Mr. Frank Olesek of Mannville passed away peacefully in the Vermilion Health Centre at the age of 88 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Josie; brother, Charles (Pearl) Olesek of Edmonton; sister, Annie Tchir of Holden; nieces and nephews, Jody-Anne Olesek of Edmonton, Frank (Diana) Tchir of Errington, B.C., Lawrence (Nora) Tchir of Holden, Sandra (Wayne) Hamblin of Errington, B.C. and Victoria (Bob) Kostuk of Edmonton; great-nieces and nephews, Aaron Tchir of Errington, B.C., Travis Tchir of Edmonton, Lindsay Tchir of Salmon Arm, B.C., Corinne (Ryan) Cross of Victoria, B.C., Cindy Hamblin of Errington, B.C. and Tanya and Bobbie Kostuk of Edmonton and numerous cousins. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Felix and Frances Olesek; first wife, Martha and brother-in-law, Fred Tchir. A Mass of Resurrection will be held in the Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Vermilion on Monday, March 6, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Eduardo Escober officiating. STEINHAUER, Edna On March 1, 2000 Edna Steinhauer of Edmonton passed away at the age of 67 years. She is survived by her five sisters, Pauline (Abraham) Paradon of Edmonton, Esther (Ivan) Ingelbritzen of Forestburg, Rita (Ted) Price of Camrose, Martha Dauleg of Forestburg, Janet (Duke) Elliot of Golden, B.C. and one brother, Henry (Mary) of Edmonton, as well as many other relatives and friends. Edna was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Molly; brother, Edward and sister, Matilda McEwan. THOMAS, Jean (Grami) Jean was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on December 14, 1909 and passed away in Edmonton on March 2, 2000 at the age of 90 years. Jean is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Ken) Bryan, and Peggy (Doug) Atkinson; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Morrison and one sister, Maude Eyres as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean is predeceased by her husband, Herb. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Anglican Church (125 Larose Drive, St. Albert) with Reverend Carol Canton officiating. TOROSHENKO, Yury In his 90th year, passed away March 1, 2000 in Toronto; long time resident of Windsor. Born in Havrylivtsi, Bukovina, Ukraine; resided in Canada for 52 years. Deeply missed and cherished by his beloved wife, Olya; sons, Taras, Ostap (Natalia Zymowec) and Bohdan; daughter, Motrya (Roman Andryjowycz); grandchildren, Stefan and Anton Andryjowycz, Laryssa and Olenka Toroshenko. Survived by sisters, Oryssia and Lida in Ukraine. Predeceased by brothers, Oleksander and Mykhaylo; sisters, Olya and Maria. Yury will be remembered for his many years of service to the Ukrainian community with leadership, commitment and outspokeness. Most of all, beautiful memories will remain of his immense love for his family. Family will receive friends 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. Friday at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette Street (near Keele). He is survived by his loving wife, Sophie; two sons and two daughters, Art (Pat) of Edmonton, Vic (Joanne) of Delta, B.C., Loveth (Ray) Bradley, Mary Ann (Maggie) Frederick, all of Edmonton; nine grandchildren, Todd, Kevin, Tiffany, Tracy, Lisa, Cameron, Dana, Barbara, Lara; seven great-grandchildren, Katie, Jessica, Alexandra, Sophie, Cole, Zackary, Braedon; four brothers and three sisters, Nickola, David, Peter, Nick, Jenny, Diane and Mary. VALCOURT, Maurice Joseph August 30, 1937 - March 1, 2000 "In God I Have Put My Trust " With great sorrow, the family of Maurice Valcourt announce his passing at the age of 62 years. He went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. Maurice, formerly of Nanaimo, B.C., is survived by his cherished wife, Lea of Wildwood; beloved children, Theresa Koerner of Nanaimo, B.c., Richard Valcourt of Drayton Valley, AB and Elaine and Ken Bingham of Nanaimo, B.C.; beloved grandchildren, Crystal, Jason and Ortega Koerner and Ken Jr., Kristie Anne and Christopher Bingham; sisters and brothers-in- law, Beatrice and Bill Evers of Nanaimo B.C., Evelyn Provost of Nanaimo, Lionel and Alice Tourand of Nanaimo; many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Maurice is predeceased by his father Ludger in 1996; mother, Jeanette in 1992; his beloved son, Mark in 1986. Maurice will be best remembered for his love of his Lord and his family. The wonderful way he was with children and the way he always had time for them. His smiling face, wonderful hugs, sense of humour, his love for spending time with family and friends. KUDRYK, Helen Helen, formerly of Andrew, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at the age of 74 years. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Nick; children, Bill, Barbara (Greg) Armstrong, Richard (Cindy), John (Karen); grandchildren, Aubrey, Scott, Katie, Nathan, Chelsea, and Kiana; mother, Mary Feschuk; brother, Paul (Olga) Feschuk; sister, Anne (George) Slemko; and sister-in-law, Carole Feschuk. Numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Predeceased by her father, William Feschuk (1977), brother, John Feschuk (1996), and nephew, Bill Feschuk (1974). LANDRY, Arthur (Art) Joseph On June 6, 2000, Art Landry passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years, after a brief illness. He went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. Art leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 55 years, Marie-Anna. He also leaves to mourn his loss his children, Rene, his wife Jean and their children, Paul, Marc, Dominique and Eric; Charlotte; Laurier, his wife Deborah and their children, Elise and David; Claudette, her husband Dan Leger and their children, Justin and Lianne; and Janine. Art also leaves his brother, John and his wife, Helen. Art was predeceased by his parents, Omer and Bertha; one sister, Albertine; five brothers, Albert, Romeo, Oscar, Paul and Rene. Prayers will be offered Friday, June 9, 2000, 7:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home in the Wild Rose Chapel. MacDONALD, Joyce Elizabeth (Jaque) Joyce Elizabeth (Jaque) MacDonald, who was born June 12, 1922, died on June 1, 2000 in Edmonton. Joyce was born in Lower Beaverlodge and was ever loyal to the Peace River Country. The child of pioneers, she was proud to belong to the Oldtimers Association of Alberta. She graduated from the Edmonton Normal School in 1941 and returned to the University of Alberta later for her BA and BEd and a graduate diploma in special education. She was also a proud and active member of the Canadian Federation of University Women. Although she taught all over the province and in B.C., her longest association was with Guthrie School in Lancaster Park. She loved travelling, gardening, literature, theatre, poetry and games. She is predeceased by her father Homer Lafayette Jaque and mother Louise Harris Jaque Thompson, and by her brother Mervyn Jaque and sisters Marian Kindree and Rhea Mae Jaque. She leaves to mourn her daughter Janice, son-in-law Randy and her grandchildren Madeleine and Jocelyn, whom she cherished. Also left behind are treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joyce's legacy is one of service and laughter. Her battle with cancer was sudden and drastic in its speed. Joyce's family would like to thank the Grey Nuns Hospital's caring staff (and the Palliative Care Unit in particular) for their loving kindness, especially Jackie, Wendy, Kelley, Sue, Rachel, Melba and Chris, as well as Drs. Meuwissan, Walker, Perrera and Chyczij. With their help, she faced her last 20 days on earth with incredible grace and courage. A Memorial Service for this remarkable lady will take place at St. Paul's United Church, 11526-76 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta on Friday, June 16th at 1:30 p.m. A reception there will follow.

MATIUSHYK, Thomas Max On June 6th, 2000, Mr. Thomas (Tom) Matiushyk of Edson, Alberta, beloved husband of Olga passed away in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 73 years. Besides his loving wife, Olga, Tom is survived by his children, Bob and wife Frances of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Don and wife Denise of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Sandy and husband Ken Allen of Edson, Alberta and Tom and wife Kim of Calgary, Alberta. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; his two sisters, Mrs. Mary (Paul) Malowany and Mrs. Vera Kichton both of Edmonton, Alberta. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Tom was predeceased by his father, Max in 1974; and his mother, Anastasia in 1994. Funeral Services for Tom Matiushyk will take place on Saturday, June 10th, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. from the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Edson with Reverend Sheila Dunbar officiating and interment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery, Edson, Alberta.
