SENCHYNA, Nestor On June 17, 2000 Mr. Nestor Senchyna of Wildwood passed away at the age of 61 years. He will be sadly missed but forever treasured in the memories of his loving wife, Deina; son, Kelly of Wildwood; daughter, Kim (Peter) Raafs of Spruce Grove; granddaughter, Hayley May Raafs; his mother, Mrs. Olga Senchyna of Edmonton; sister, Iris (Sheldon) Woods of Nipawin, SK; two brothers-in-law, Wilson Smith of Alhambra and Tom Wells of Peers; 11 nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and great-cousins. Nestor was predeceased by his father, Mr. John Senchyna; and his brother, Jerry. Funeral Services will be held at the Wildwood Legion Hall on Thursday, June 22, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Luciow officiating and interment to follow at Wildwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations if desired, may be made to W.W. Cross Cancer Institute, Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Ladies Aid Society of Wildwood. SHEDDEN, Florence Maud (nee Lover): passed away on June 16, 2000, in her 91st year. She died as she lived with great courage and a tireless eye for beauty in the natural world. Predeceased by her sisters Edna and Irene and by her brother, Arthur, she is survived by her daughter, Donna-Mae Moore, who wishes to thank Dr. Bryan Prentice and the dedicated staff of Westminster House for their skilled and compassionate care, as well as Hospice and the fine staff of Palliative Care, Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, B.C. No assemblies or services by request.In lieu of floral or other tributes, donations would be appreciated to The Irene Joy Stewart and Florence Maud Shedden Endowment for Domestic and Wild Animal Welfare, administered by The Vancouver Foundation, Suite 1200, 555 W. Predeceased by her husband, Nick; her parent; two brothers and one sister. Prayer Wednesday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Michael, AB. ST. PIERRE, Olivier January 17, 1915 - June 18, 2000 Mr. Olivier St. Pierre of Stony Plain passed away at the age of 85 years. Olivier is survived by his loving family, five sons; three daughters; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene; his parents; two brothers; and two sisters. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. from Parkland Funeral Chapel, 3502-44 Avenue, Stony Plain. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 4904-52 Avenue, Stony Plain with Father Gordon Roebuck, Celebrant. STAPLES, John Elmer John Elmer Staples passed away suddenly on June 17, 2000. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Audrey; and three children, Lawrence Staples (Moira) of Edmonton, Patricia Ward (Kim) of Weybridge, England and Donald Staples (Nancy) of Calgary; and grandchildren, Maril Murray (Bryn), John, Lauren and Mark Staples; Darcy, Chelsey and Meredith Ward; and Mitchell Staples. He is also survived by his sister, Marguerite Nordal of Winnipeg and his brother-in-law, Brig. Gen. Don Mounteer (Margaret) of Nanaimo. John was born in Treherne, Manitoba in 1922. After serving his country in WWII as an RAF flight instructor in England, he returned to Winnipeg, married Audrey and attended the University of Manitoba. They moved to Alberta upon completing his degree in Civil Engineering, to participate in the exciting days of oil discovery in the Leduc and Redwater areas. John worked as an engineer for Imperial Oil and then in his own partnership, McGregor Johanson, opening Alberta and the Arctic with roads and drilling sites. John and Audrey enjoyed many retirement years together, travelling the world and relaxing at their lake home with family and friends. John was a fine man who combined wisdom, a wonderful sense of humour and a vital enjoyment of people and nature. he leaves his family and friends with a multitude of happy memories and shared experiences. The Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2000 at St. Paul's United Church (11526-76 Avenue). If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta. Arrangements are in care of Andrews & McLaughlin.

THOMPSON, Edna Augustina (nee Christman) On Wednesday, June 14, 2000, Edna Augustina Thompson left us after a four month illness. Having enriched so many lives as a daughter, school teacher, wife, mother, and friend, Edna embodied the truth that we are loved more than we can ever imagine. Another teacher once said "I touch the future, I teach". Edna too touched the future in doing that which she cherished at Calder, Hensall, Clinton, Woodcroft, Inglewood, Baturyn and Griesbach schools, and she gave her all. She will be sadly missed but forever remembered by her loving family, her mother Ida Christman; her sisters, Arlene Mack and Josephine Christman; her nephew, Mark Mack; and Arlene's husband, Winston; by her many aunts and uncles and cousins; by her son, Christopher; by her husband Bob, his mother and father, sister and brother and all his extended family; by the students she taught and loved; and by her friends and colleagues. Edna was predeceased by her father, August. A Celebration of Edna's life will, assisted by Pastor William Flath of the St. Albert Lutheran Church, be held at the St. Albert Funeral Home, which can be found at the intersection of Hwy #2 and St. Vital Avenue, on June 21 at 7:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the St. Albert Inn, 156 St. Albert Road. THOMPSON, Isabelle On Sunday, June 18, 2000 Mrs. Isabelle Thompson of Big Knife, Villa, Forestburg, formerly of Killam and Edmonton, passed away in Daysland Health Centre. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Pauline Thompson of Killam; her two grandchildren, Tawnia and Tyler Thompson, both of Killam; a sister-in-law, Marie Dion of Montreal; and several nieces and nephews. Isabelle was predeceased by her loving husband, Emerson on July 21, 1992. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Michael Laporte on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 from St. Joseph's Church in Killam at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, on St. Albert Trail at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice. He will be greatly missed by his loving family; son, Colin (Gloria); daughters, Cecile (Marty) and Sherry (Renny); grandchildren, Bonnie, Cory, Amy, Carmen, Karmen, Shanna, Jannele, Jennifer, Brandon, Haylee and Garvin; great-grandchildren, Shalene, Madison and Kelsey. He also leaves to mourn, his sweetie, Madeline and her children, Monica, Carol, Garvin, Carl and Sandra; their children, Dillon, Joshua, Katelyn, and Sarah; as well as many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Anne.
