PENNER PAUL HENRY 1930 2006 - Paul Henry Penner, beloved husband of Mrs. Sylvianne (Forsythe), of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home in Calgary, AB, on Monday, October 23, 2006 at the age of 76 years. Paul retired in 1992 to Calgary. Besides his loving wife Sylvianne, Paul is survived by four children and their spouses, Robert and Rose, Peter and Val, Richard, and Beth and Derrick Stokes; four grandchildren Robert Jr., Reese, Desirae and Brittanie; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Jean, Ernie, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth and George Jensen, and Helen Penner, and many nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Betty. ELLIOTT - Glen Gordon Elliott, beloved husband of Elaine Elliott, passed away peacefully at Bow View Manor Nursing Home on Thursday Aug. 31/06 at the age of 78 years. Glen, the youngest son of Rose & Arthur Elliott was born Aug. 5, 1928 in Rockglen, SK. He retired from the Regina Fire Dept. after 25 years of dedicated service & resided in Calgary for the last 8 years. Besides his wife Elaine, (nee Crozier) of 57 yrs., he is also survived by his brother Calvin (Peggy) of Kanata Valley, SK., his daughter Glenna Adams (husband Mike) of S. Windham, CT.; Pati Elliott (husband Alan Vinet) of Calgary and son Garnet Elliott of Kamloops, BC; grandchildren, Scott Seeley (wife Salma) of Hanover, NH; Elliott James (wife Mikala) and great granddaughter Rowyn of Calgary; Jesse Elliott of Honolulu; HI & Meagan Elliott of LA, CA; Jonathon Vinet of Calgary, AB; Kristie Vinet of Toronto, ON; Trina Vinet of Edmonton, AB and numerous extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur & Rose Elliott, brother Delbert Elliott & sisters Edna Griffin & Lucy Davies. A small family gathering will take place in Calgary. MERK, JOSEPH CHARLES - August 6th, 1927 January 3rd, 2006. On Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006 Mr. Joseph Merk of Sherwood Park AB, formerly of Regina, SK passed away at the age of 78. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Hilda, two sons, Rod Merk of Regina, SK, Kim (Sheila) Merk of White City, SK. Four daughters, Lynda (Richard) Gutor of Calgary, AB, Jocelyn (Dale) Schwartz of Regina, SK, Susan (John) Delwo of Sherwood Park, AB, Patrice (Joe) Kentner of Acton, ON. Thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also one brother Vern (Irene) Merk of Calgary, AB. Three sisters, Richarda Beatty of Winnipeg, MB, Barbara Fetterley of Calgary, AB, Donna (Doug) O'Brien of Flin Flon, MB. Plus numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 6th, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park. NORMAND, DONALD REID - Donald Normand passed away suddenly on January 1, 2006 at the age of 87 years. Don is lovingly remembered by his wife Trudy, daughter Myrna (Roy) Allen, son Dale (Rene) Normand, daughters Bette Lynn (Dennis) Blais, Carol-Ann (Scott) Lucas, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Grace Normand and brother Roger (Marion) Normand. Don was predeceased by his grandson Darin Roy Allen in July. Don served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and worked in Sales and Distributing in both the Regina and Calgary areas. Don's heart was with the homeless and the poor. HOUBEN - Mr. Franz Houben of Calgary, passed away on December 8, 2003 at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his children Selena and Roland Houben and Tia Maria (Darin) Melnechenko, all of Calgary. He is also remembered by his former wife Heidi also of Calgary, three sisters Mia Frantzen, Hilda Reindl and Klarchen Thissen and a brother Addie Houben, all of Germany. He was predeceased by two brothers, Heinz and Alex Houben and three sisters Anna Wiskeidatis, Bertha Kannen and Franziska Houben, all of Germany. Franz was an easy going man who loved to laugh and smile in every circumstance. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends. At Franz's request there will be no service. BURNER - Richard (Dick) Irvine February 11, 1936 July 29, 2007 Life's beauties and wonders cover such a range but just as the wind they too quickly change. With his son and his daughter by his side, Richard (Dick) Burner passed away, suddenly but quietly, on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the age of 71 years. Predeceased by his wife Marie (his angel by his side), Dick leaves behind his son Craig, his daughter Kari and his ever-faithful dog and companion Cleo. Dick is also survived by his sister Dorothy, daughter-in-law Melanie, grandson Quinn, many nieces and nephews, and an extensive network of family and friends. TREMBLAY, DOROTHY - It is with deep sadness we wish to inform all who were touched by our mother's presence, that after a short illness, she passed away August 30, 2004 at the age of 81. Throughout her life, Dorothy was a wonderful and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She selflessly supported her ailing mother and sisters in their final years. She gave freely her time, business knowledge and emotional support to her church. Her faith and trust in the Lord was a constant source of peace and happiness, even during difficult times. Dorothy was always there to help others but her main and immediate focus has always been her family. She leaves her family and friends to mourn her passing but also to celebrate her entry into the Lord's presence. She is survived by her two sons, Floyd (Marie-Anne) Surrey BC, Darrell (Charlotte) Regina, Sask, eight daughters, Yvonne (Ron) Doughty Anchorage Alaska, Judy Harcourt Calgary, Ab, Donna (Larry) Hultgren Calgary, Ab, Marilyn (Jack) Kraine Regina, Sask. Linda Atkinson Calgary, Ab Cheryle (Bill) Lowe Calgary, Ab, Kathie Rolufs (Maurice) Bzdel, Chestermere, Ab and Michelle (Blaine) Messer Lampman, Sask, and daughter-in-law Marion Saskatoon, Sask. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces, sisters and brothers. She is predeceased by her husband Arthur (August 15, 1979), her sons Terrence (July 22, 1972) and Dale (June 10, 1998), and her infant grandson Anthony (June 7, 1981). We wish to thank her friends, church members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Catholic Church, as well as doctors and nurses of the Bayshore Palliative Care in Calgary for all their considerable prayers and support. And a special thank you to Dr. G R Sutherland for his compassion, understanding and with his words of wisdom, "take your Mother home to enjoy the summer ". This gave us another chance to appreciate one of God's most precious gifts, "Our Mom ".
