Elden Frederick Seney

Elden Frederick Seney of High River passed away at his home in High River on March 13, 2002 at the age of 86 years.

He is survived by his loving son Bill Seney, Calgary and also by his brother Ted Seney, High River; his sister-in-law Dorothy (John) Braendle; brothers-in-law Jack (Irene) Corbett, Art Corbett and Bud (Ethel) Corbett and numerous nieces and nephews. Elden was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Gwen Seney on September 26, 2001; his parents Elizabeth and Fred Seney; uncles Iner and Christian Jensen; brother Gordon Seney and sister Ila Ball; sisters-in-law Daphne, Doreen and Marjorie Seney and Myrna Corbett; brother-in-law Benjamin Ball.

A funeral service will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River, on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 2:00 pm. An interment service to follow at Highwood Cemetery.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ladies Auxillary to the High River Hospital, c/o Joyce Kyle, 720 Riverside Dr. N.W. High River, AB. T1V 1S3. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home Ltd., High River. Telephone 652-2222.

Kenneth William 'Bill' Price

Mr. Kenneth William 'Bill' Price of Black Diamond passed away at the Rising Sun Long Term Centre, Black Diamond, on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the age of 90 years. Bill is survived by his loving wife Dolorous of 60 years, two daughters, Audrey (John) Marsland, Sharon 'Sherry' Nimeck, seven sons, Kenneth (Janette), Harold (Doreen), Denis (Joyce), Stan (Angele), Marvin (Leona), Ron 'Red', Kelly (Beth), 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Bertha in 1936, three brothers Allan, Lleu and Ellis.

A funeral service was held at Black Diamond Gospel Church, Black Diamond, on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 2 pm with Pastor Art Siemans officiating. Interment followed in the Foothills Cemetery, Black Diamond, AB.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Bill to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4500, Edmonton, AB. T6E 9Z9.

Harold Stirling Baker

Harold Stirling Baker of the Black Diamond area, passed away at the Rising Sun Extendicare, Black Diamond on February 28, 2002 at the age of 87 years.

He is survived by his sister Beatrice McGonigle, Turner Valley and numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by his parents Robert and Marie Baker; brother William and his wife Isabell; sisters Florence Smith and her husband Don; Nora Schumacher and her husband Johnne and brother-in-law William McGonigle.

Harold was born at Saskatoon, SK. and farmed near Unity, SK. until coming to Alberta where he operated a store at Hartell. Following that he worked in the oilfields at Turner Valley and Smiley, SK.

A memorial service was held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Rd., Okotoks on Monday, March 4, at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Doug Powell officiating. An inurnment service followed at Foothills Cemetery, Black Diamond. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Rising Sun Extendicare, c/o Bag #1, Black Diamond, AB T0L 0H0 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 215 - 12 Ave. S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1A2. Mavis Lydia Cortez

Mrs. Mavis Lydia Cortez of Claresholm, formerly of Okotoks and High River, passed away at the Clares-holm Hospital on March 1, 2002 at the age of 80 years.

Mavis is survived by her family, Eric (Carol) Ras-mussen of Calgary and their children Michael, Richard, Holly and Elisha; Barb (Craig) Hachey of Sylvan Lake and their children April and Dean; Dennis (Darlene) Rasmussen of Okotoks and their children Jason and Brittne. Mavis will also be dearly missed by her sisters, Theresa, Marion, Sarah, Emma (Eric); brother Ben (Olive).

A celebration of Mavis' life was held at the home of Dennis and Darlene Ras-mussen, 315 Sunset Place, Okotoks, on Sunday, March 3, 2002 between 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The family wish to thank the caregivers of the Claresholm Auxiliary and Hospital for the care given to Mavis. Arrange-ments in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home (Okotoks) Ltd. Telephone 938-3111.

Donald Hugh Lineham

Donald Hugh Lineham of Turner Valley passed away March 1, 2002 at the age of 69.

Don is survived by his devoted wife Lona, canine companion Katy, children Doneen (Rob), Cheryl (Andy), Janet (Kevin), Patrice (Gord), Geoff (Shelley), Stuart (Margo), stepson Brad (Joanne), 10 grandchildren and Ted Lineham.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at Turner Valley Legion, Sunday, March 17 at 1:00 pm.

If desired, donations may be made to ALS Society, Suite 400, 222 23 Ave. S.W., Calgary, AB. T2S OJ2.

Michael John Leslie Torn

Mr. Michael John Leslie Torn of Priddis, AB passed away at the High River Hospital on Thursday, Feb-ruary 28, 2002 at the age of 69 years.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Elena; sons, Graham (Rebecka) Torn of Burlington, ON., Martin Torn of Vancouver, B.C.; daughter, Lindsay (Tim) Erickson of Calgary; three grandchildren, Rachel, Liam, Calum and one brother, Alan (Shari) Torn of Calgary.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2002 at 11:00 am at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River.

Steve Robert Magyar

Steve Robert Magyar, July 29, 1931 - January 29, 2002. A much loved husband of Donna Kaye. Steve was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by children Kathy (John), Michael (Lisa), Pam (Sam) and Bob. The jewels of his life his grandchildren: Nicole, Kaylin, Candace, Kassie, Jami-Lee, Mark and Matthew. A loved son-in-law of Dorothy Skov. Steve is also survived by his brother Eugene (Emma), sister Ethel, Rosalie (Frank) and Margaret (Joe) and two sisters-in-law Ethel and Jean.

Steve was always up for a challenge and was successful at many things. He was curious, intelligent and persevered through all of life’s events. His sense of justice and kind heart will never be forgotten. He was a loyal and faithful husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law and friend. “Pass me an OV, and John Deeres should not be allowed in Alberta!”

Funeral services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Rd., Okotoks, on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 1 pm. Ms. Marilyn Evans officiating. Interment followed at Okotoks Union Cemetery.

Velma "May" Henry

Velma "May" Henry passed away January 30, 2002 at the High River Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her husband Bob, her son Terry (Monique) Fennell and their children Chrystal, Charlotte, Jennifer and Heather. Her five daughters Val (Stan), Cameron, Debbie (Raefe) Turner, Wendy (Ken) Austin and their children Curtis and Keith, and Audrey (Ed) Black and their children Tia and Paul, and Sandra (Glenn) Pastway. Her sisters Evelyn Cook, Leona (Steve) Vincze and Rita Gracie, as well as numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Gould; brothers Leslie (Evelyn) Gould and James “Jimmie” (Irene) Gould. The family would like to extend a special Thanks to the nurses and staff on the third floor of the High River Hospital. Thanks for the memories. For all of us that are left today we will miss this special lady in every way. She loved her family and cats too. Mom “May” we love you!

Teddy McChesney

Teddy Charles McChesney passed away at 3 pm on Monday, April 1, 2002 at the age of 14 months.

Teddy was born on January 23, 2001 in Calgary. He lived with his father, mother and two big brothers in the hamlet of Millarville, near Calgary. Teddy was a very happy, content baby and he brought much joy into his home and to all he met.

Teddy is survived by his parents, Brad and Jody McChesney; his brothers, Teagan and Cole; his grandparents, Garry and Helen McChesney and Linda Hagg; his aunts and uncles and eight cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather Garry Hagg in June of 2001.

Relatives and friends were invited to pay their respects at the Harvest Centre at Westerner Park, 4847 - 19A Street, Red Deer on Thursday, April 4, 2002 at 10 am. Funeral Services were held at the Harvest Centre at 11 am with Scott McChesney, Cori-Lee Pearman and Marion Crawford officiating. A Graveside Service followed at the Innisfail Cemetery.
