They travelled “off the beaten path” in Mexico and Central America; some of Doug’s happiest times. He and Susanne loved to garden. Together each year they created a yard of beauty and bounty. As a journeyman carpenter, Doug’s creative and artistic nature helped him to excel in his trade. It became his service and livelihood. Doug was a great cook; his keen mind inspired a wide range of reading; and he delighted in music of all genres. The Edmonton Folk Festival was an annual highlight for him. He was a steward of this plant in his living simply, showing compassion for nature and the environment. He was athletic and fearless in all the sports he took up. Ten years ago Sophie Tucker, the second love of his life, became his four legged shadow and devoted companion. Doug is a beautiful soul with invisible marks that challenged him at times through his life. His inner world asked more of him than we can ever know. Doug, thank you for your inspiration and caring. May you journey in Peace, Guided by Light. Held in Love… A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date.
