WALLIS, Brian Edward
December 13, 1942 — January 20, 2011

On Thursday, January 20th, Brian Edward Wallis lost his year-long battle with cancer. Born to a relatively large family on December 13th, 1942, he is survived by his doting wife of 34 years, Victoria, his son Byron, and daughter, Tara; sincere condolences are also extended towards his sisters, Maureen, Sue, and Joan, as well as his younger brother, Bruce, as well as countless relatives and godchildren spanning across Canada. Brian is predeceased by his parents, Ernie and Hazel, his brother Roy, and sister Norma. His love for his hometown, Gibsons, B.C. was unequivocal, and his timeless hobby of woodcraft kept Brian on his toes for the constant need of new ideas and projects. Following his retirement from months of service to the UN and 35 years of service in total to the Canadian Forces, he settled in a quaint home in northeast Edmonton. He was a humble individual, assertive yet kind; Brian was a caring father, a loving husband, and a generous brother, but in his entirety, a special friend to all. He is sorely missed, with an ache the heavens can hardly bear to see. Friends and family are welcomed to the Viewing at Serenity Funeral Service North Central Chapel , 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, AB, on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday January 27, 2011. at St. John Bosco Parish at 13503 — 40th Street, Edmonton, AB.

Stewart, Jennifer

Jennifer (Jen) Dawn Stewart (Crane), passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with leukemia. Beloved wife of Mark Stewart, and loving mother of Liam James and Zackery Donald. Cherished daughter of Helen Crane (Stratford, ON) and the late Don Crane (2002). Jennifer will be fondly missed by her brother, Robert Crane; birth mother, Doreen Biggs (Brian); parents-in-law, Susan Pearce, and Jim and Simone Stewart; and many dear family members, friends, and colleagues. Jen exuded positive energy in life and throughout her treatments. She will be remembered as a compassionate individual who loved her family. Jen got joy from helping others identify their true potential. Her quirky sense of humour was refreshing, and she prided herself on being hopelessly recessive: a blonde, blue-eyed, left-handed Newfie. She cited these as reasons why she was horribly gullible, a bit naive, and forever losing things. Jen was passionate about her husband and two little boys, enjoyed tinkering in the kitchen, trying to play hockey, and being active. She was a dreamer who never gave up hope, and held many aspirations for the future. Our family extends special thanks to all health care providers who participated in Jen’s care, especially the nurses and physicians at the Cross Cancer Institute and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Also, a very special thank you to all staff at the Norwood Palliative Hospice; your amazing care and support will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. A farewell Celebration of Jen’s Life will be held on Monday, January 24th, 2011 at the Christian Life Center, 10123 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, AB from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Death is nothing at all. I’ve only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are… Life means all that it ever meant. It’s the same that it ever was… Henry Scott Holland
