Slinn, Muriel Edith

Muriel Edith Slinn died peacefully from old age on October 23, 2010. She will be lovingly remembered by son Patrick Slinn and daughter-in-law Nicole Jobin. Born and raised in Acme, AB in the early 1900’s, Muriel later spent most of her life in Calgary. A special thanks of appreciation to nursing staff at the Lynnwood Continuing Care Centre for giving humane and sincere care over four years. Muriel will be remembered by them for her lovely smile. Thanks as well to Dr. S. Simon, her physician, for ten years of compassionate care. The loyal and loving care from Karen Sorochan will never be forgotten. Schmidt, Gerhardt (Pancho)

On October 21, 2010, Gerhardt Schmidt (Pancho) of Edmonton suddenly passed away at the age of 76. Gerhardt is survived by his wife (Lydia Janz); his children Doug Schmidt (Judy), Caroline Schmidt, Lori Meller (Gary), and Florence Smith (Hans); his stepchildren Gordon Janz (Carol), Rod Janz (Carmen) and Melanie McDonald (Dean); his brother Erwin Schmidt (Shirley); and his 13 grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Service, 5311 — 91 Street. A service celebrating his life will be held at Mill Woods Pentecostal Assembly, 2225 — 66 Street, Edmonton on Monday, November 1 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William Cornelius Vocational Training Centre in Guatamala or the Starehe Childrens Home in Tanzania, both through Mill Woods Pentecostal Assembly.

Ritter, Martin

On October 25, 2010 Martin Ritter of Stony Plain, Alberta passed away at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey and children, Elizabeth (Brian Lepp), Wendy (Ken Kloeck), Harold (Denise) and grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, Zachary, Chelsea, Chantel and Chad as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. The family would like to thank those who have offered their love and support during this difficult time, and are forever grateful to the dedicated and caring staff on 11Y at the Edmonton General whose compassion and understanding will always be remembered. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church (Golden Spike) with Pastor Erik Parker officiating. Interment to follow. ROUNCVILLE, Howard Elwood

Howard Rouncville peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Devon Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons Todd (Dawn) and their family Sherisse (Rob), David (Ashley); son Keith (Carol) and their family Tara (Colin), and Jared as well as six great-grandchildren Brooke, Jordyn, Kodey, Jack, Jenna and Jaysen. Also surviving are his six brothers and sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean in 2003. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of His Life will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Devon United Church, 2 St. Clair Street, Devon with Rev. Audrey Mitchell officiating. Hankewich, Steve

On October 30, 2010, Steve Hankewich of Edmonton passed away at the age of 83 years. Steve was predeceased by his loving wife, Katie. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Kelly (Diane), Lorrie (Doug) Costigan, Karen (Flemming) Kristensen; grandchildren: Dallas, Jared, Calyn, Donovan, Megan, and Jon. HLUS, Steve A.
December 29, 1926 — October 31, 2010

It is with hearts full of gratitude for his life and hearts full of sorrow for his death that we announce the passing of Steve Hlus at the age of 83. Steve will be forever remembered by his wife of 60 years, Lovie; his children and their spouses, Ken Hlus (Barb), Carol Torpe (Floyd); one grandson, Jason Hlus and great-grandchildren, Rowan and Dakota Hlus. Also forever remembered by his brother Nestor (Olga) Hlus, sisters Nettie (Nick) Bohaichuk and Genia Saik, sister-in-law Elsie Hlus as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Maria Hlus; his brothers Bill (Mary), and Albert; sisters Anne (Metro) Zorniak, Jean (John) Mokry and brother-in-law Ed Saik. He was an expert handyman, carpenter and there was little that he could not repair, build or invent a solution for. He has left an enduring legacy for us all. TOMIC, Rade

On October 28, 2010, Rade passed away peacefully at the age of 79 years. Rade was a proud and remarkable man of integrity, he lived life his way and taught his family to love each other and live bravely and loyally. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Rose, married forty-one years; daughters, Angela (Chris) Wendling, Julia (Jason) Pickering, Nina; and his loving grandchildren, Alexander, Emily, Ava and Olivia. Rade was predeceased by his son Dene in 2008. He will be in the thoughts and prayers of his family in Yugoslavia and many family and friends from Alberta and Ontario. With respect, there will not be a formal service at Rade’s request. In its place may your spirit be uplifted and filled with pride as you remember the many precious memories you shared with him in life. Mary Theresa Lockhart (Doyle)

Mary Theresa Lockhart (Doyle) was born on March 12, 1929 and passed away peacefully on October 23, 2010 in Edmonton at the Grandview nursing home. Richardson, Bertha Louise

On Thursday, November 25, 2010, Bertha Richardson of Fallis, Alberta passed away at the age of 81 years. She is survived by her loving husband Keith, two sons Terry (Mona) of Nanaimo, B.C. and Brian (Michelle) of Fallis, grandchildren Colleen, Katie, Dale, Kayla, Jordan, and one sister Hazel Jacobson. She was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters. Myrholm, Einar Nathanael
March 7, 1936 — November 28, 2010

On Sunday morning, November 28, 2010, Einar Nathanael Myrholm of Edmonton, Alberta went to be with his Lord at the age of 74 years. With thankful hearts for a grace filled life we say farewell to a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his daughter Karen Mendonca (Aubrey), his son Colin Myrholm (Marcey) and five grandchildren, Tabitha, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Kelsey and Jacob; sister May Hall (Tom), brothers Eric (Gloria), Gunnar (Lorraine) and Tom; sister-in-law Ann. He was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Anna. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. A celebration of his life will be held at Richfield Christian Fellowship, 3715 — 85 Street, Edmonton, Alberta on Friday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Wildwood Ladies Aid Cemetery on Saturday, December 4th, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Donations may be made to S.A.M. Jamieson, Dr. Robert Carss

On Monday November 29, 2010 Robert passed away at the age of 92 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Rick (Patsy), Barbara, Patrick (Janice), Paul and daughter-in-law Molly, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine and son Tom. Many thanks to the Kipnes Centre for Veterans for their care, kindness and support, it will always be remembered. In respect of Robert’s wishes there will not be a funeral service. Belanger, Marie-Paule Barrette

In Loving Memory Marie-Paule passed away on November 28th, 2010 at the age of 77 years old. She was the loving wife of Jean-Guy Belanger. She was the seventh born of a family of eight. Her parents, Arthur Barrette and Orina Proulx live in Causapscal, Province of Quebec. She was born the 28 day of March 1933. She will be remembered by her brother Roger (Pierrette), Real (Roseme), Madeline (Julien) Roy, Ghislaine (Andre), Raymond (Aliette). She was predeceased by her brother Richard (Therese), and her sister Jeannine (Israel) Blaquiere a couple of years ago. At the age of seven, she got a virus called Rheumatic fever and suffered from it all her life. She was employed by the Provincial Bank for around fifteen years where she met Jean-Guy Belanger in August 1969 and was married on the 27 day of June 1970. They were married for 40 years. She developed fibromyalgia in January 2001 during a surgery to replace the heart Mitral Valve. She went through several surgeries and developed dementia but was always bright and mentally sound until the end. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 9924 — 110 Street, Edmonton, on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Viewing will take place prior to the Service from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

On January 25, 2011 Katherine Mary Storms passed away at the age of 66 years after a long battle with cancer. Katherine served as a banquet manager at the Continental Inn, she was also a member of the River of Life Church in Edmonton. August 25, 1916 — December 13, 2010

Note: Change of Time and Location On December 13, 2010, Ruth Maclennan passed away at the Misericordia Hospital at the age of 94 years. She leaves to mourn her loss, her daughters, Mary (Lou Hyndman), Bonnie (Ken Hope) and son, Bruce (Rainey), seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother, Phil (Mary) Pawsey. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. A. H. Maclennan, in 1964. Lambert, Maurice

Len was predeceased by his wife Joyce and one sister Elnora. Haukenfrers, Henry

Henry Haukenfrers of Wetaskiwin passed away on January 26, 2011 at the age of 85 years. He is lovingly remembered by his children Gerold (Coreen), Monica, John (Linda), Karen (Doug), grandchildren, great-grandchildren and caregiver RoseMarie. Henry was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Valentine, in September of 2010. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 4910 Northmount Drive, Wetaskiwin on Tuesday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m.

GRUNDBERG, Harvey
May 24, 1928 — January 25, 2011

The family announces Harvey’s death at the age of 82. He is lovingly remembered by Eleanor, his wife of 55 years, his son, Greg (Cathy McKay), daughters, Maureen Grundberg (Per Arvidsson), Glenys Dolinsky (Bill), Jeneane Grundberg (Bruce Rimmer) and grandchildren, Kaya, Coco, and Jesse Molloy, Lisa, Erik and Jeremy Dolinsky and Nicholas Rimmer. He is also survived by his sisters, Gladys Davidson (Pastor Carl Johnson), Lorraine Blumer (Carl), his sisters-in-law May McCarthy and Ruth Grundberg, and brother-in-law Doug McLenaghan (Ellen). He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Jonas and Jenny, and brothers, Vernon and Morley. Harvey grew up on the family farm north of Camrose and attended Camrose Lutheran College. Harvey and Eleanor were married in 1955 and moved, with Greg and Maureen, to Edmonton in 1958, where Glenys and Jeneane were later born. He was a long time employee of Scott National Food Wholesale. He had a lifelong involvement in the Lutheran Church and was a member of the Kinsmen Club. Harvey’s family was most important to him; he especially enjoyed times spent at the cabin on Moose Lake. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8405 — 83 Street, Edmonton, Pastor Darryl Roste officiating. If desired, donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice.

With sorrow the family of Milena Alzetta announce her passing on January 28, 2011 at the age of 68 years. Milena is survived by her loving family: children Davide (Terri), Roberta (Malcolm), Michela (Bjorn), grandchildren Rod, Jennifer (Cory), Ryan, Cassandra, Nicholas, Megan, Alexandra, great-granddaughter Celie, sister Mara (Luigi) Zorzetto. On Monday January 24, 2011, Miss Melissa White, daughter of Billy and Leanne White of Devon, AB passed away suddenly at the age of 18 years. She is survived by her parents, Billy and Leanne White; four sisters, Kaliska, Darlene, Rebecca and Josie; one brother, Doug; as well as, one grandmother, Kay White; aunt, Karen White (Dave Elliott); uncle, Rene Higgins and numerous family and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Ben White; her grandfathers, Willy White and Don Peacock and grandmother, Rita Ewing.
