Siegfried Julius, of High River, passed away at the Alberta Hospital in Ponoka on Jan. 11th, 2000 at the age of 71 years. Siegfried is survived by his brother Werner (Gudrun) Sperling, Bragg Creek and their family Bruno, Felix, Claudia and Gisela as well as his close friend Erna Stodt in Germany. He was predeceased by his sister Lore Sperling in 1983. Funeral services were held at the High River Christian Reformed Church on Monday, Jan. 17th at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jim Zondervan officiated. Interment followed at Highwood Cemetery. Snodgrass Funeral Home Ltd. (652-2222) directors.
STEVENS
Leonard David, beloved husband of Laura Stevens, High River, passed away on Jan. 3rd, 2000 at the age of 75 years. Besides his loving wife he is survived by his daughter Linda (Marvyn) Frey, Calgary, his son David (Barb) Stevens, Okotoks, his step-sons Ken Rozander, Victoria, B.C.; Don (Sue) Rozander, Calgary; Doug (Geri) Rozander, Okotoks and Jon (Barb) Rozander, Calgary, 2 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren. Len is also survived by his sister Helen Frank, Havre, Montana and his brother Alvin Stevens, High River and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Chauncey Stevens in June 1964, Grace Stevens in Oct. 1974, his sister Bernice Beagle in Dec. 1998 and his brohters-in-law Henry Frank in April 1998 and Stuart Beagle in Dec. 1999. Born in the Blackie Auxiliary Hospital on March 19th, 1924, Len grew up on the farm in the Dinton district where he attended school at Plain Alley School. He farmed the family farm until 1960 when he ran the Mossleigh General Store until 1964 when he moved to High River where he worked at various jobs until becoming the Rawleigh dealer in 1965. In 1968 he moved to Calgary where he married Laura Rozander in July, 1970. In September, 1981 they returned to High River where they have resided since. Services were held at the High River Full Gospel Tabernacle on Friday, January 7th at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Wes Schindel officiated. Interment took place at Highwood Cemetery Friday morning. Sorkilmo
Mrs. Greta Helen Sorkilmo (nee Smith), beloved wife of George Sorkilmo of High River, passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital on May 23rd, 2000 at the age of 82 years. She will be sadly missed by her children Peter (Georgina) Sorkilmo, Barbara (Victor) Bond, Donald (Addie) Sorkilmo and John (Peggy) Sorkilmo. Loving memories will be cherished by her ten grandchildren, Greg, Eric (Leah), Brian, Shawn (Heather), Jeffery (Leyla), Elyse, Derek, Stuart, David (Maude) and Jennifer. Greta was born at Granum, Alberta and resided in the High River/Longview area since 1934. She was active in the Farm Woman of Alberta, the Longview U.C.W., 4-H and in later years the High River Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary. Friends and relatives were invited to join Greta's family for a time of visitation at Snodgrass Funeral Home, High River on Thursday, May 25th from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Cremation followed at Parklawn Crematorium. A private family memorial service was held. Greta's cremated remains were placed in the Highwood Cemetery Columbarium. DAUB
Mrs. Fay Ellen Daub, of High River, Alta, passed away at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary on May 13th, 2000 at the age of 70 years. Fay is survived by her daughter Brenda Bleyens, Cayley, Alta, her son Bob (Brenda) Daub, Green Lake, B.C., her grandchildren; Jason (Tara) Bleyens, Sonja (Alex) Redford, Rene, Ricki and Rob Daub and her great grandchildren Falisity and Hayley. She is also survived by her sister Ina (Edmond) Pellerin, her brother Rae (Diane) Bole and her sister-in-law Carmel Bole all of Warren, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Daub on Nov. 24th, 1984 and also by her brother Lyle Bole. FayÕs family wish to thank the staff of High River Hospital for their care and compassion during her stay at the hospital. Funeral services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River on Wednesday evening, May 17th at 7:00 pm. The Rev. Father Long Vu officiating. Cremation followed the service. ELLA JUSTINICK
Ella Louise Justinick, of Vulcan and High River, passed away at Carmangay, Alta. on September 9th, 2000 at the age of 70 years. Ella is survived by her daughter Earla & Walter Sapinsky, High River, her sons: Jim, Drumheller; Bob & Cathy,Turner Valley; Kim & Lavonda, Vulcan and Brock & Patti, Balgonie, Sask, her grandchildren: Michelle & Darrel Nash; Chantelle & Grant Ball; Suzanne Sapinsky, Steven Sapinsky, Ryan Phillips, Sherry, Candace and Rod Justinick, Kera and Cole Justinick and Jennifer and Jack Justinick and her great grandchildren: Elisabeth, Bret and Jacqueline Nash and Tanner Ball. She is also survived by her sisters Lorraine Doverspike, Winnipeg; Yvonne Bremner, Calgary; Doreen & Casper Jarosz, Calgary and Vicky Dobni, Vernon, B.C. and her brothers Tom Lesperance, Winnipeg and Harold & Linda Lesperance, Scotland. Mom will be remembered for her sweet and generous nature, her great love for her family and her strong faith in God. Services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River on Wednesday, September 13th at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Lorne Irwin officiated. Following the service EllaÕs cremains were interred at Highwood Cemetery, High River. If desired, contributions may be made in EllaÕs memory to the Food Bank in High River or Vulcan.
