RIDGWAY, Walter David

Born in Bolivia, Walter loved speaking Spanish and volunteering in developing countries, most recently serving in Guatemala with Impact Ministries. He was a loyal fan of the Canucks, an avid hiker and soccer player with SouthEast United, even after surgery and chemotherapy.
Walter began his own business, Briskal Systems, in 1981, having studied Computer Science (U of S, 1977), back when punch cards were used and a computer took up an entire room. Walter was, with his wife, a long-term friend of the Edmonton maternity group, MOM Care.
Walter’s faith in God was central in his life. He was actively involved with Beverly Alliance and Braemar Baptist Churches in Edmonton. It was his faith that allowed him to face his illness with fortitude, hopeful of heaven.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, Walter S. (2000) and Betty (1996) Ridgway, and his older brother, Stanley Ridgway (1984). He is survived by his wife, Dr. Catherine Olson; three girls, Christine Wong (Jonathan), Karen Neupane (Roman), and Patricia Ridgway; sister, Joy Gibson (Simon); parents-in-law, Roland and Lois Olson; and many family and friends.
