It is with profound sadness that our family announces the sudden, untimely but peaceful passing of Teresa, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the age of 78.
She was much loved and respected and will be forever missed by her husband, Francisco, of 53 years, and her two devoted daughters, Anna Sampaio Whitehead, of Royal Oak , Michigan, and Paula Sampaio Goebel of St. Albert. Also left to cherish her memories are her two beloved grandchildren, Amanda Whitehead of Vancouver, and Austin Goebel.
Teresa was born and educated in Sao Miguel, Azores, and taught primary school for 10 years before immigrating to Canada in 1963 to start a new life.
Her greatest joy in life was doting on her two grandchildren and spending time in her garden. She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit. Left to remember her are siblings, Maria Jose Benevides, Jose Eloi Moniz, Cremilde Machado and numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayer service will be held on Sunday, December 23, at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 12311–55 Street, in Edmonton. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Lady of Fatima Church followed by the Entombment at the Holy Cross Mausoleum.
DANEYKO, Olga Elizabeth
July 4, 1930 – December 19, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Olga at the age of 82 years.
She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 54 years, Fred; children: Karen (Jim) Hughes, Peter (Brenda), Leanne (Alex Stavert) and Ken (Margaret Robinson); nine grandchildren; extended family
and friends.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of South Terrace Nursing Home for their care and compassion during this time, and Dr. Thomas Maguire, her long-time G.P.
Friends and family may pay their respects at a viewing held at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 10826 – 62 Avenue, Edmonton. Cremation to follow.

WALKER, Wilfrid (Wilf) Allan
Wilfrid (Wilf) Allan Walker died December 13, 2012 in Edmonton at age 89.
He was not just a good man, but a great man. He was predeceased by his parents, O.J. and Ella May Walker and his wife Mar (Macleod) in 2004 and his brother Jim in 2009. He is survived by his children: Mac, Sally and Katie (Andy) and his grandchildren: Michael (Annie), Meghan, Rebecca, Jerett, Emma, Jacob and Hannah. He is also survived by his niece Jean (Kim), great-niece Joanne, great-nephew Christopher as well as Rita Kopecky, his dear friend and companion for the past eight years.
Wilf attended Garneau Public High School and the University of Alberta. He enjoyed various careers beginning with the Fleet Air Arm in 1943 and was still undergoing pilot training when WW11 ended. After the war, he completed his BSc, worked as a fisheries biologist and went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Food Technology at Oregon State University. He and Mar lived in Seattle for four years and moved to Calgary in 1954 as they missed seeing the Alberta sky.
After a brief stint in the food industry in Calgary, Wilf and Bruce Lang founded a clothing sales company, Lang Walker Sales. It expanded north in 1958 and Wilf became the sole manufacturing agent in Edmonton. His last 14 working years were with Alberta Agriculture, International Marketing where he got to use his graduate education and see the world. In the 60’s, he co-founded the Overlander Lodge near Jasper Park Gate.
Jasper was a huge part of Wilf’s life since childhood and he has spent many happy times at the family cabin at Lake Edith. Wilf embraced retirement and continued with his many hobbies, including stamp collecting, hiking, badminton and tennis. He developed a passion and talent for painting thus the nickname “Pablo”. Wilf lived life to the fullest; he travelled the world, read voraciously, enjoyed music and theatre and was a great conversationalist. He played tennis up until two weeks before his death.
A Memorial Celebration of Wilf’s life will be held at the Royal Glenora Club, 11160 River Valley Road, Edmonton AB on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edmonton and District Historical Society, 3rd Floor, 7730 – 106 St Edmonton, AB T6E 4W3.
TURNBULL, Johnson “John“
August 16, 1917 – December 15, 2012
On December 15, 2012, Mr. John Turnbull of Edmonton passed away at the age of 95 years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary; children: Brian (Anne) and Barbara (Chris); his dear grandchildren: Joshua (Lindsey), Sarah (Marc), Aaron (Jenny-Rae) and Ian (Mehra); as well as great grandchildren: Malachi, Ezra, Maryam and Layla. John is going to be dearly missed by his sisters Trissie, Bessie, Alison and Lola. He was predeceased by his parents and seven sisters.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of John’s life will take place on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Braemar Baptist Church, 7407–98 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, with Pastor Geri Redekop officiating.

SCOTT, Kenneth Walker
Our family is deeply saddened to announce that on Monday, December 17, 2012 Ken Scott of Edmonton passed away peacefully
at the age of 80 years.
Ken’s memory is cherished by his wife Marg, his children Shauna, Gord (Debbie), Todd (Sandi), and Jim (Brenda) as well as Marg’s children Lucille (Randy), Debbie, Ken (Martha), grandchildren, great– grandchildren, many relatives and friends. Ken was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Jean, grandson, Chad, and brother, Keith.

WAYTOWICH, Raymond (Ray)
July 28, 1942 – August 22, 2012
On Wednesday, August 22, 2012 Ray Waytowich passed away at the age of 70 years in Edmonton, Alberta.
He is survived by his sisters: Olga (Ted) Neskar, Phyllis (John) Binda, Annette (Hank) Gongos; and his sister-in-law, Margaret Waytowich, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Frank Waytowich, his sister, Alice Huget, and his brother, Ernie Waytowich.
Ray was a special and passionate uncle who always made an effort to call and spend time with his nieces and nephews. He was also an avid curler and golfer, curling many sheets and golfing many rounds with good friends and relatives. With respect to Ray’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family gathering to honour his life will take place. Donations in memory of Ray may be made to a favourite personal charity.
LIDDICOAT, Orville
It is with great sadness that the family of Orville Liddicoat announces his passing on August 29, 2012 at the age of 85 years.
He is survived by: his loving wife Rena, son Stan (Paulette), daughter Twila and son-in-law Roger Kehoe. Orville was predeceased by his daughter Dale Kehoe and grandson Mac Kehoe.
A Memorial Service for Orville will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Holyrood Extendicare for their care and compassion shown to Orville during his stay there.
GORDON, Randy
1966 — 2012
Randy Gordon, son of Marjorie Gordon and the late George Gordon, passed away on August 26, 2012 at the Grey Nuns Hospital.
He is survived by his sisters; Wendy (Randy) Bourgeau and their children, Rebecca and Mackenzie; Kathy McNamara and her daughter Emily McNamara.
Family and friends are welcome to visit at Marjorie’s home.
GOEBEL, Michael Gary
We regrettably announce the sudden passing of Michael Gary Goebel at the age of 37 on August 26, 2012.
Michael passed away doing what he was passionate about. Mike was a very humble man who devoted his life to the “Goebel Girls”. He truly cherished all things that he was blessed with in his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of ten years Janine and his four beautiful princesses, Adeleigh (seven), Ava (five), Riley (four) Reese (three months), his parents Dr. Gary and Joan Goebel, sisters Angela Goebel and Lisa Goebel-Sparling, nieces and nephews, Jayden (ten), Allisyn (eight), Raquel (seven), Jessica (six), Jagger (four).
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held Friday, August 31st, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at West Edmonton Christian Assembly, 6315 — 199 Street. Interment details to follow.

DAVIDSON, Lucianne
Lucianne Davidson passed away August 24, 2012 at the age of 66 years.
She leaves to remember her passing her husband Douglas Schultz; daughter Dezeree (Blaine) Strauss; 3 grandchildren Lukas, Jax, Jorja; sister Valerie Coughlin; plus many family and friends.
Lucianne was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Bernice Riches and son Quinton.

KLANING, Anne Elfrieda
June 29, 1931 — August 27, 2012
It is with great sadness, but also in celebration of a full life, that we announce that Anne Klaning passed peacefully in her husband’s arms at the age of 81 years.
Anne will be cherished in memory by her loving husband, Leif Julius; her daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Owen Bailey; daughter, Twila Procaccini; daughter, Carolyn Wiese; son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Cheryl Wiese; and stepdaughter, Debbie Lengyel. As well, she will be remembered fondly by fourteen grandchildren: Carmen and Peter, Oliver, Chad, Adrienne, Carissa, Rachelle, Carl, Marlene and Chris, Hailey and Aiden, Denae, and Makena. Just recently,
she held her new great-grandson, Nixon Sanderson, born on August 23, 2012.
Anne will also be greatly missed by her siblings and spouses: Martha Penner (sister– in-law), Bill and Barb Penner (brother and sister-in-law), Kathy and Robert Fletcher (sister and brother-in-law), and Betty and Tom Lewis (sister and brother-in-law.)

GOMES, Agnes
August 16, 1919 – July 14, 2012
On July 14, 2012, Mrs. Agnes Gomes of Edmonton, formerly of Georgetown, British Guiana, passed away peacefully just one month shy of her 93rd birthday.
Agnes is predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1996. She will be dearly missed by her seven children: Marlene (Rod), Malcolm (Tonia), Frances (Rod), Laurianne (Grant), Mark (Lisa), Nicholas, and Frederick Jr.; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great– grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Agnes is the last of her immediate family to be reunited with her parents, four siblings and husband.
Most sincere gratitude to the staff at the Capital Care Grandview Facility for all the care and support extended to Mom and the family.
A viewing, final adieu and Celebration of Agnes’ Life has already occurred.

GABERT, Walter Emil
On Monday, August 27, 2012, Walter of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta formerly of Beaver Hill District, passed away at the age of 90 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ethel; children Gary (Irene), Carol (Yates), Janet (Rory), Joanne (John); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister Margaret Ginther as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

SCHLAMP, Herbert John
September 3, 1925 — August 8, 2012
Herbert passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
He was born on September 3, 1925, and grew up in the Grenfell, Saskatchewan area. In the mid 1950’s he moved to the Edmonton area and lived in Alberta. He loved to dream and look for opportunities.
He is lovingly remembered by his sisters: Eleanor Moss, Corrine (Jim) Bradley, Ruth (Len) Pekrul; brothers: Lorne (Joyce), Roy (Diane); and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, William Schlamp and Emelia Schlamp (nee Hauk) and sisters: infant Irene and Lillian Leir.
JONES, Irene
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Irene Jones passed away at the age of 90 years.
Florence Irene Jones was born in the King George District of Saskatchewan April 23, 1922. Her mother passed away when she was five years old and Irene went to live with her foster parents, John and Anna Ranta. She completed her high school in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan.
After completing high school she and her best friend left for Ontario to do war work. She worked in a munitions plant, knitting mill, bread company office and, finally as a waitress in a restaurant. It was while she was working at the bread company that she met and married Robert (Bob) Jones in 1950.
They moved to Edmonton in the mid 1960’s. Irene worked at Tommy’s café until her retirement in 1987. During this time she joined the congregation of Hosanna Lutheran Church and was a member until her passing. Bob passed away in 1988 after a lengthy illness. She lived in her home and, later, apartment until her health required her to be placed in nursing care.
She is survived by her sister; Mabelle, Murray and Penny, Matthew, Christina and Amelia, PJ and Penny.
A Funeral Service for Irene will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 9009 — 163 Street, Edmonton, Alberta at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow Service at Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to EPS Constable Jennifer Shewaga and her partner, the staff of the Misericordia Hospital, and to the exceptional caregivers on the third floor of the Good Samaritan Southgate Care Center.
