She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Richard; her son Brian; and her daughters, Sherrill Thirsk, Richelle Wiseman, ad Suedale Schierman. She was predeceased by her son Stephen in 1993. Grace is fondly remembered by her daughters-in-law, Rachel Thorne, Heather Larsen; and sons-in-law, Richard Thirsk, John Wiseman and Michael Schierman; and her grandchildren, Rebecca and Jason Larsen, Brooke and Holly Larsen, Jared and Sheridan Thirsk, Cayla and Luke Wiseman and Matthew Schierman. Grace was a devoted wife and mother whose strong faith in Jesus Christ was a source of light and strength to her family and to many others. We praise the Lord she is finally home where we will be reunited one day. MACINTOSH -- Florence Emily Macintosh of Calgary, passed away at the Bow View Manor on January 15, 1998, at the age of 97 years. Florence was born in Everett, Massachusetts on March 27, 1900. Florence is the loving mother of George Bergh of Winnipeg,Manitoba, and the step-mother of Norman and Joan Macintosh of Kingston, Ontario, Wallace and Helen Macintosh, and Douglas Macintosh, all of Calgary. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by her first husband, Daniel Bergh, son Richard Bergh, second husband William Macintosh, and step-sons, William Macintosh, Donald Macintosh and Kenneth Macintosh. MACKIE -- Nora Cecile, widow of Allan Kelvin Mackie, died at the age of 90 years on January 16, 1998, after nearly ten years of wonderful care at Central Park Lodge, Calgary. McWALTER -- William (Bill), beloved husband of Mrs. Audrey McWalter of Calgary, passed away at his home on January 18, 1998 at the age of 54 years. He is the loving father of Ian (Jessie) of Saskatoon, Sask., Heather and Kelty of Calgary. Bill is als survived by his grandchildren, Andrea and Emily; his mother Dorothy of Calgary; his sister Jessie (Garry) Reynolds of Calgary; sisters-in-law, Millie and Sharon (Wally); as well as many nieces and nephews. MILES -- George William Miles, 83, of George Boyack Nursing Home in Calgary, went to be with his Lord, January 18, 1998. He leaves behind his beloved wife of more than fifty years, Jean; his son Ray and wife Wendy of Jefferson, Iowa; grandchildren, Saryl and Shawn Kelsch of St. Clair, Missouri and Jason George Miles of Greeley, Colorado. He is also survived by a brother Edwin of Vancouver, B.C.; and sister Esther Bartel of Edmonton; and nine nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Sophie Miles; sister Margaret Hanlan; and brother Ray Miles. George was born October 2, 1914 in Innisfree, Alberta. Raised in Edmonton, he graduated from the University of Alberta and Colorado State College of Education. Teaching was a lifelong career, in rural one room schools, all levels of public school, at S.A.I.T., the University of Alberta and University of Saskatchewan. He also spent time working with boy's work in Alberta, with Tuxis Parliament and service in the R.C.A.F. during World War II. Two special joys for George were music and part-time farming. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). By his own request, his remains are given for medical research. He was a victim of Alzheimer's for many years and suffered from cancer in his last days. TRAHAN -- Cecile Teresa Trahan, beloved wife of Yvon, of Calgary, passed away January 18, 1998 at the age of 66 years. As well as her husband, she is survived by their children, Helene Bonnell (Mark) of Calgary, Yvon Trahan (Connie) of Vancouver, and Mary-Ellen Daae of Calgary; one grandson Scott Bonnell; a sister Doreen Wickhorst of Edmonton; and other relatives and friends. Cecile was predeceased by two daughters, Jeannette in 1957 and Simone in 1976. Cecile was born in Athabasca and raised in Edmonton. She married Yvon in 1952, and together started their lives in Edmonton. His work took their journey to many places across Canada including Brandon, Quebec City, Montreal and Drumheller, until retiring to Calgary in 1987. Cecile loved to read and was a talented artist. She was a devoted wife and mother, and will be deeply missed. WARE -- Geoffrey Windsor passed away peacefully on January 16, 1998 at the age of 70 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Violet and his sister Betty. Geof is survived by his loving wife Melba who he married June 29, 1950. He is alsosurvived by his sister Aline Lambie; and his children, Heather (Rolly) Baker, Shelley (Dwight) Homister and Michelle (Fred) Rosmanitz; grandchildren, Mike and Geof Eastland, Chad and Ryan Baker, Julie, David Matthew and Ashley Homister, Kristie, Dayna, Andrew, Kevin and Jason Rosmanitz. Geof had many interests but his most important one was his family. He was happiest when surrounded by his loving family. Geof will be sadly missed but always remembered. WOOD -- Lily Josephine (nee Cantwell) passed away on January 15, 1998 at the grand age of 97, after celebrating a long life filled with love, kindness and caring for others. Lily was born in Belfast, Ireland, March 20, 1900. She was born into a largefamily of three brothers and nine sisters. After residing in various parts of England, she made her contribution to the war effort by serving soldiers in an Army Canteen in World War I. There, she met her future Canadian husband, Harold. She moved to Canada in 1919 as a war-time bride. After staying in Winnipeg for five years, Lily and Harold moved their four children west to Calgary in 1924. Together they started a family business called Wood's Leather Goods, which has become a paragon within the Canadian luggage industry. After Harold's death in 1954, Lily was the sole owner and operator of the store until 1991, when she finally considered retirement. The family business, which still thrives today, started out making show-harnesses for horses, and other handcrafted leather products. During World War II, they made flying boots and jackets for the Royal Canadian Air Force. Changing with the times, the business has matured into luggage sales and service. Lily is predeceased by her husband Harold, daughter Leatrice and son Ray. She is fondly remembered by her children, Gloria (Alex Bull) and Douglas (Elizabeth). Also left to mourn are daughter-in-law Elsie, and close friend Peter Bediz. Lily's memory will be cherished among her ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Residing in Willowdale, Ontario, Gloria has lovingly cared for her "mum" since 1991. DAVIES -- Olive May passed away at the Cedars Villa Nursing Home on January 28, 1998 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her husband Howard in 1978. Olive is survived by three sons, Richard (Elaine) of Edmonton, Jack (Donna), Howard (Anne); daughter Dulcie (Bob) DiPaolo; brother Sonny (Isabel) Richards of Calgary; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was blessed with many friends; an outgoing person with a great sense of humour and loved played cards. She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.
