WILLIAMSON -- Dorothy May (nee Marlow), lovingly referred to as NANA, passed away peacefully on February 3, 1998 at the age of 72 years, at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. She is survived by her three children, Jeannie (Edgar Engel), Faith (Donnie Macleod), and Mark, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Hannah, Simone, and Jason Engel, and Dustin Roy and Megan L. Marie Williamson, all from Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Roy Williamson in December 1977. All those who knew her were touched by this special person with a kind word or a loving smile. We all will truly miss her. YEE -- Mr. Shee Bow Yee of Olds, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre in the presence of his loving family on February 3, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 59 years. NELSON -- Mrs. Anna Muriel Nelson, beloved wife of Homer Nelson of Calgary, passed away at the Forest Grove Care Centre on Sunday, February 1, 1998, at the age of 84 years. Anna was an active member of the Christian Science church and will be remembered for her piano playing at Sunday School. She was also involved for many years with the Rebekah Lodge. PADZUN -- Mr. Jack Padzun, beloved husband of Mrs. Margaret Padzun of Airdrie, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Monday, February 2, 1998 at the age of 94 years. He was born on April 16, 1903 in Lithuania and was married to Margaret on April 24, 1948. Jack was also a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Calgary Branch No. 1 and a World War II Veteran from 1939 to 1945. Besides his loving wife, Jack is also survived by a daughter Donna Padzun of Calgary. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. PALFREY -- W. Arthur "Scotty" Palfrey passed away suddenly and peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, February 1, 1998 at the age of 90 years. Art was born in Devonshire, England on May 15, 1907 and came to Calgary as an infant with his family. He returned to England in 1934 to play ice hockey, eventually heading north to Glasgow, Scotland where he played hockey and worked for British Telephone Department until returning to Calgary in 1956. Art is survived by his loving family, daughter Mai (Jensen) Ponath, Calgary; granddaughter Ingrid and husband Glen Kindellan; grandsons, Dean and wife Robyn Jensen, Calgary, Glenn Jensen, Surrey, B.C.; great-grandchildren, Warren Kindellan, Langley, B.C., Taylor and Nicole Jensen, Calgary. Scotty is also survived by his loving companion and best friend, Madeleine Vermunt; her son Raymond (Deb) Vermunt; and daughter Lorraine (Gordon) Stangness; and Madeleine's six grandchildren. Three nieces, Beverly Palfrey, Audrey Ashworth, Fairmont, B.C. and Donna Gale Neidig, Surrey, B.C. He was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1981 and five brothers and one sister. Art worked for A.G.T. until his retirement in 1972 and was a member of A.G.T. Pioneers Association. He was an avid fan of hockey, golf and baseball and enjoyed his evenings of bridge with Madeleine and friends. A kind and gentle man, he was respected throughout his life by all who knew and loved him. Since 1981 Art lived at Shalem Manor where he enjoyed many friendships and wonderful times. PIPER -- Marilyn "Joyce" of Calgary passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, January 31, 1998 at the age of 57 years. Joyce was born the youngest and only daughter of three children to Kenneth and Hilda Piper in Lethbridge on November 7, 1940. The family moved to Calgary shortly after her birth and settled in the Sunnyside area. She graduated from Crescent Heights Senior High and shortly after joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. After serving for about five years, Joyce left the Air Force to have her daughter Jacqueline. The family continued to travel and live in places such as Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Oklahoma before once again settling in Calgary. For the past five years or so she was a Commissionaire for the Calgary General, Peter Lougheed and Children's Hospitals. Although she revolved her life around her daughter Jacqueline and granddaughter Lorelei, Joyce still found time for her handicrafts and sewing. She was a caring loving person and a godsend to her mother in her failing years. Joyce was taken from us suddenly but the memories will always be there. She is the loving mother of Jacqueline Schram of Calgary. Besides her daughter, Joyce is survived by a granddaughter Lorelei Schram of Calgary; two brothers, Dick Piper and wife Carol, Fred Piper and wife Joan, all of Calgary; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Hilda Piper. PLUNKETT -- Terence Bernard (Terry), peacefully in his sleep at Rockyview Hospital, on February 2, 1998 in his 82nd year. Son of the late Aloysius Goodenough Plunkett and Evelyn Sparrow Plunkett of Calgary. A lifelong resident of Calgary, he was predeceased by his brother Rev. Patrick Mary Plunkett S.J. and his sister Shelagh Hardy. RAMEY -- Audrey Blaine, 66 years. Audrey passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 1998 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, but spent much of her life in Victoria, British Columbia. She moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1987 and remained there until her death. Audrey leaves behind three children, sons, Alan and Darrin, and a daughter Lori; and four grandchildren, all of British Columbia. Audrey requested that there be no Funeral or Church Service. REDIGER -- Mrs. Pauline Rediger passed away at the Foothills Hospital on January 31, 1998 at the age of 78 years. A devoted mother and grandmother, Pauline will be keenly missed by her children, Eleanor, Emerson (Karen), Gladys (Gary) Severson and Donna; and by her much loved grandchildren, David, Vincent, Angela, Jason and Christopher. She is also survived by her brother John Slusarchuk; and sisters Phyllis Westfall and Agnes Schultz, who are Saskatchewan residents. Born in the Ukraine, Pauline immigrated to Canada as a young child and homesteaded with her family in Central Saskatchewan. She and her late husband Dave were successful Saskatchewan farmers for more than forty years. Since moving to Calgary six years ago, she made many new friends especially in her seniors' complex. Many have been treated to her fine Ukrainian cookery. ROBERTSON -- Marian Gertrude Robertson of Yucaipa, California, passed away peacefully February 1, 1998 in Calgary, at the age of 96. Born in Montpelier, Ohio on July 3, 1901, her family settled in California when she was two. She loved California and was a proud American. She was predeceased by Bill, her husband of fifty years in 1975. Marian is survived by her only child Jim and his wife Shirley; two granddaughters, Kathy Bury and her husband Greg of Canmore, Karen and her partner Murray Fulton; and one great-grandson Braden Bury. SIMPSON -- Florence May (Florrie) Simpson, passed away at the Brentwood Care Centre on January 31, 1998 at the age of 91 years. Florrie is the beloved mother of Robert (Bella) Gilbert and Sidney (Shirley) Gilbert. She is also survived by two sisters, Rose and Gladys of Calgary; as well as ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Florrie spent most of her adult years in Calgary and was fond of oil painting and music. She will be greatly missed.
