- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -HEBNER -- Frank Earl passed away peacefully on January 22, 1998 at the age of 72 years. Frank was born in Grandview, Manitoba. He was a farmer before he moved to Calgary in 1970, became a labor foreman for Trojan Construction and in 1987 moved to Brooks. His last few months were spent happily and comfortably in the Brooks Nursing Home. Frank loved music, hunting and mandolin playing but was best known for being a "gentle man". He will be mourned by his only child Cindy-Lee and her husband Dave Heitrich; four precious grandchildren, Bettina, Brandy, Michael and Lonnie; his one and only love Cynthia Hebner; his brother Ivan (Hermenia) Hebner; his sisters, Alice (George) Phelps and Winnie Olson; many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Minnie and Frank Hebner, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Chapel, Olds, Alta., January 26, 11:30 a.m. Interment at Hainstock Cemetery. Reception at the Legion to follow. HUETHER -- Jeff Richard D., beloved husband of Mrs. Paula Huether of Calgary, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer on January 22, 1998 at the age of 40 years. Jeff will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Paula; their children, T.J. (ten), Derrick (eight) and Kalynne (five); his parents, Richard and Ruth; brother Wes and family; and sisters, Tammy and Shelly and families. He will also be remembered by many other relatives and friends. Jeff was a longtime employee of the Sprung Group of Companies, he was a supervisor of the Awning Division. He travelled for the company to supervise the installation of awnings at Sprung Properties. McLAUGHLIN -- Barry McLaughlin. It is with great sorrow that Barry's family announces his sudden death on January 22, 1998 at the age of 44 years. Barry is survived and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Lynn and children, Katie and Jake; his parents, Grace and Bill; brother Wayne (Marta); sister Wendy (Rick); and numerous other relatives, friends, colleagues and students. NORRIE -- Elinor Norrie (nee McKelvey), beloved wife of Mr. Norman Norrie of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Nursing Home on January 22, 1998 at the age of 81 years. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 23, 1916 and resided there until 1963. Elinor later moved to Montreal, then Brandon, and to Calgary in 1973. After a brief stay in Vancouver, she returned to Calgary in 1995. Throughout her life she was involved in many volunteer organizations and was instrumental in the formation of the Seniors Group at the Leisure Centre. Elinor was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion No. 285. Besides her loving husband, Elinor is survived by a daughter Louise Baert; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Norrie and his wife Anita, all of Vancouver, British Columbia; five grandchildren, Jessica, Stephan, Austin, Alicia and Aaron. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Bea and Ed Shute of Calgary; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Kay McKelvey of Winnipeg, Manitoba; a sister-in-law Grace (Gordon) McKelvey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Elinor is predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret McKelvey, a sister Myrtle Beally, and two brothers, Howard and Gordon. PRESTON -- Sidney (Sid) Ernest Preston, beloved husband of Mrs. Margaret Preston of Calgary, passed away at the George Boyack Nursing Home on Thursday, January 22, 1998 at the age of 85 years. SHUPE -- Omer William (Bill) Shupe. Tragically taken from us in the prime of his life on January 19, 1998 at the age of 37 years in Elkford, B.C. Bill was born in Edmonton, Alberta, December 13, 1960 but grew up and lived in Calgary. In his youth, Bill was active in hockey, martial arts and baseball. He had eighteen years of dedicated service with the City of Calgary where he made many friends. Bill will be remembered as a generous and gentle person who was loyal to and loved his family. Bill was predeceased by his father Donald D. Shupe in May 1997. Left to mourn are his loving mother Martha Shupe; brothers, Donald (Isabel), Robert and Michael; sisters, Carol (Ted) Campbell, Irene (Mark) Doell; also his nieces, Sarah Huber and Theresa Doell; and nephew Steven Doell; also many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. ATTAWAY -- Verna May Attaway, of High River, formerly of Smiths Falls, Ont., passed away at the High River Hospital on January 22, 1998 at the age of 70 years. Verna is survived by her son Blaine (Cheryl) Attaway, High River; and her grandchildren, Chandra-Jane, Joshua, Samantha and Alaina Attaway. CAMPBELL -- Isabella Dalton (nee Rowan) passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years at the Bethany Care Centre, Cochrane. She is survived by five sons and two daughters, Bertha Johnston, Onanole, Manitoba, William (Edythe), Burnaby, B.C., Winnifred Gray, Onanole, Manitoba, Stirling (Joyce), Carman, Manitoba, Kenneth (Lorraine), Calgary, Russell (Adeline), Rocky Mountain House, Glen, Onanole, Manitoba; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1962. Isa was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 7, 1906. She came to Rossburn, Manitoba in 1925 and married William Campbell, a widower with four children in 1929. In 1962, they moved to Calgary. CHAKRAVORTY -- Mr. Sailendra Kumar (Chak), Chakravorty beloved husband of Mrs. Thelma Chakravorty of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on Saturday, January 24, 1998 after a short illness at the age of 76 years. Chak was born in Mymonsing, Bangladesh in 1922. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Calcutta. He immigrated to the U.S.A. and earned a Petroleum Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines and he earned a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Kansas. Chak came to Canada in 1951 and worked for the Department of Mines and Resources in Regina, as well as New Superior Oil, Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas, and Dome Petroleum in Calgary, retiring from Dome in 1985. Chak is a life member of APEGGA, and held memberships at Ashler Lodge No. 28, the A.A.S.R., and the Al Azhar for decades. He did some consulting work for three years after his retirement. Chak enjoyed music of all sorts, particularly classical and opera. Besides his loving wife Thelma, Chak is also survived by a son, two daughters and a son-in-law, Melissa Best, Susan Steinmann and Dean, David and Amanda, all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Ashley Best, Julia Best, Tonianne Steinmann, Eric Steinmann. He is also survived by one brother Dipten and wife Dipti and family, of Calgary. Chak's surviving family in Jamshedpur, India includes two brothers and five sisters. The family wishes to thank the Rockyview Hospital, ICU staff for their wonderful care. Flowers are gratefully declined. DASH -- Stanley (Stan) Robert Dash, beloved husband of Marlene, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 22, 1998 at the age of 60 years. Stan was born November 25, 1937 in Calgary and during his life traveled and worked throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. He spent several years as a construction contractor in Lethbridge before finally settling back in Calgary. Stan loved to escape to the outdoors, camping and fishing with his wife and family. He enjoyed the simple treasures of life. Stan is survived by his wife Marlene; a son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Agata of Calgary; and a daughter Cheryl of Lethbridge. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Terry Patterson of Winnipeg and Georgina and Ed Loucks of Trehearne, Manitoba. GOTTKE -- Helen (Nellie) passed away January 24, 1998 at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital at the age of 86 years. Nellie is survived by her loving husband Ted; one beloved daughter Shirley Geyer and her son-in-law Allan Geyer; also her dearly loved and devoted twin grandsons, Russell Geyer, and Warren Geyer and his wife Bonn. Other survivors are one brother-in-law Bill Craig; two sisters-in-law, Lily Anderson and Jean Anderson; also many nieces and nephews; also so many wonderful friends. Nellie was born in Bankhead in 1911 and moved to Banff as a small girl. She was predeceased by her first husband Warren Oxley in 1949. Also both parents and her fourteen brothers and sisters. She was proud to be the last of the Anderson Clan.
