On Monday, February 3, 2003, Mr. George R. Davidson of South Cooking Lake formerly of Sherwood Park passed away at the age of 79 years. He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Caroline of 50 years; his two sons and two daughters, Linda (Joe) of Calgary, Glen of Sherwood Park, Donna (Grant) of Edmonton, Les (Wendy) of Edmonton; seven grandchildren, Kimberly and Lindsay of Calgary, Kristy, Katy and Brett of Edmonton, and Brandon and Nicole of Edmonton. He also leaves behind two brothers and five sisters, Mary Mills of Sherwood Prak, Margaret Madu of South Cooking Lake, Isabel Belore of Sherwood Park, Elizabeth Davidson of Sherwood Park, Helen Davidson of Calgary, Louis Davidson (Ellen) of Sherwood Park, Gordon Davidson of Red Deer. He will also be missed by numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Jean; brothers, Bill, Frank and Bob. Memorial Services will be held in loving memory of George R. Davidson on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Park Place Funeral Home, 51 Broadway Blvd., Sherwood Park, with Reverend Ken Wheaton officiating. EDWARDS, Edith "Edie"
Edith Muriel Edwards (nee Heslup), long time resident of Wetaskiwin, and earlier Millet, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. in Calgary. Edith was born in Malta on October 12, 1910 and immigrated to Canada from Edinburgh, Scotland with her family in the early 1920's. Edie taught school from 1928 to 1975, first in the Millet district, then in Wetaskiwin. She then retired to travel and enjoy life with her husband, Robert. As a lifetime member of the Anglican Church and the Eastern Star (past Worthy Matron, Victory Chapter No. 32), she will be remembered by many. Edie was predeceased by her husband, Robert "Bob"; parents, William and Jessie Heslup; sister, Jessie; brothers, Noel and William "Billy" and by many other dear family members. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Edwards and her husband, Alan Antonishka of Calgary; daughter, Elaine Wagar and Husband Roger of Airdrie; grandchildren, Jennifer and Mitchel Wagar; sisters-in-law, Irene Heslup (nee Edwards) and Jean Pluim (nee Edwards); brothers-in-law, James Edwards and Earle Edwards and his wife, Margaret "Mickey" as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews both here, in the U.S., and abroad. A Memorial Service to celebrate Edie's life will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immanuel Anglican Church, 5103-46 Avenue, Wetaskiwin with Reverend Lyn Oldale officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Wetaskiwin Senior's Drop-In Centre, 5216 - 54 Street. Donations to honor Edie's life may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. On Saturday, February 1, 2003, Olive passed away at the age of 76 years after a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by four children: Judy (Paul) Vetro, Daphne (Hutch) Singh, Betty Babiuk, and Jim Eglinski; nine grandchildren: Greg, Anthony, Kim, Everett, Gordon, Susan, Taras, Aaron, and Donnelee; six great-grandchildren: Steven, Stephanie, Kalyna, Samuel, Jacob and Nikolai; brothers: Mike (Inge) Chrapko and Nick (Marian) Chrapko; sisters: Mary Boyko and Rose Michalchuk; and many nephews, nieces, friends and relatives. Olive was predeceased by her parents Simeon and Eudokea Chrapko; brother John Chrapko; husband William Eglinski; son-in-law Ronny Babiuk; and daughter-in-law Stephanie Eglinski. On Tuesday, February 4, 2003 Mrs. Renee Flaathen, formerly of Killam, passed away at the age of 78 years. She is survived by three children Joyce (Don) Allers of Jarvie, Brian Komperdo (Bertha) of Edmonton and Karen (Bob) Conrad of Sedgewick; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters Nora Komperdo of Killam and Joanna Demeulenaere of Trail, BC. Renee was predeceased by her first husband Joe Komperdo in 1962 and her second husband Jorgen Flaathen in 1989; one son Joey and one brother Tino. On Thursday, April 17, 2003 Mrs. Marie Cependa of Vegreville, formerly of Vancouver, B.C., passed away at the age of 89 years. Mrs. Madeline "Maddy" Goerz of Spruce Grove passed away at the age of 71 years.
