It is with great sadness that the family of Anne Elicksen announces her passing on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the age of 87 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Ruth Elicksen (Larry Balaneski) of Edmonton; two sons, Norman (Thelma) and Don (Eileen) of St. Albert; six grandchildren, Lawrence, Christopher, Janine, Keesa, Kelsey and Keiran; two sisters, Amelia (Harry) Gresiuk and Della Kalite; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, daughter, Margaret and son-in-law, Vern Pearson; parents, Nicholas and Roselia Pasemko; sisters, Mary, Nellie, Sandra and Amelia and brothers, Michael and William. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of Capital Care Norwood, Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care they gave to our mother. On June 2, 2003, Mrs. Cecile Marie Gosselin of St. Paul passed away at the age of 79 years. She is survived by one son and one daughter, Maurice (Flora) and Michelle Louise (Claude) Carignan all of Edmonton; four grandchildren, Michel (Caroline), Gerald, Andre and Christy; one great-grandson, Max; two sisters, Martha Tetreault of Edmonton and Marguerite McKimmon of Deroche, B.C.; one brother-in-law, John Gosselin of St. Paul; also numerous nieces and nephews. On May 30, 2003, Mr. Alvin Roy Hubar of Sunset House, Alberta passed away in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 50 years. Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Anne; daughters, Aaron Hubar (Aaron) of Valleyview, Debby Hubar (Faron) of Grande Prairie; son, Kevin of Grande Prairie; parents, Stella and Peter Hubar of Sunset House; sister, Nancy Leduc of Grande Prairie; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by both his maternal and paternal grandparents; mother-in-law, Una Lindsey; and uncles, Steve Hubar and Carson Kryzalka. BERGUM, Pearl
On Thursday, July 31, 2003, Pearl passed away at the age of 72 years, to join her husband Roy who predeceased her in February of this year. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her four children, Terry (Ed) Wende, Iris (Jim) Everitt, Rodney (Karen) and Roger (Dawna); as well as seven grandchildren; her sisters, Ann Zytruk, Kay Predy, Helen (Lincoln) Evans, Norma Pritchard and one brother, Walter (Angie) Nimcan. Pearl was predeceased by her parents Mike and Lena, brother Nick and sister Mary. Many thanks to the nurses and staff on the 2nd floor North at the Jubilee Lodge Nursing Home. On Monday, July 28, 2003 Mrs. Evelyn Chaplin of Edmonton went home to be with her Lord at the age of 80 years. Evelyn will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her loving husband of 51 years, Wilfred; two brothers, Lloyd Lyding of Calgary and Lewis (Olga) Lyding of Mesquite, Nevada, niece Dianne Mohr Butter of Lloydminster, Alberta, special friends, Garry Hoehne (Kathy) and their children Victoria, Colin, Kyle and Timothy, also her many friends at Fellowship Baptist Church. CHISHOLM, Gordon
Died July 27, 2003 at Cairnsmore Place surrounded by seven members of his immediate family. He was born June 24, 1922 in Provost Alberta in a pioneering family. He lived there and helped farm the land until he was 19 years old when he joined the Airforce and was stationed in Labrador during the war as a Aeronautical Engineer. After the War, Gordon worked as a manager at Woodward's where he met his future wife Dorothy Falkenberg and they were married in 1949 and shortly thereafter began their business in Ladies Ready-to-Wear until the late 70's. After that they retired to Vancouver Island where their boat was docked at Canoe Cove and lived in a lovely home on the waterfront in Sidney, BC until their move to Duncan to be close to their oldest daughter, Joan in 1997. Gordon is survived by his wife, Dorothy Chisholm; his three daughters, Joan, Linda and Donnis Chisholm; their grandchildren, Lara, Simone and Andrea Nurme, Jason and Jessica Hill and Errol, Peter and Alecia Wilson. His sister, Irene Miller survives who lives in Provost Alberta. He has also two nephews, Howard and Lawrence Brown from Vancouver and Kelowna, respectively; and many other nephews and nieces. Gordon was a true friend and companion to his wife Dorothy. His children and grandchildren adored him and he was an upstanding member of the community belonging to many community organizations Al Shamal Temple, Edmonton, Sidney Shriner's Club, Rotary Club of Edmonton, Rotary Club of Sidney, Canadian Legion, The AOTS of the United Church at Central United Church in Edmonton. A Service will be held Friday, August 1st at 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, Duncan. JENSEN, Karen Kirstine On Friday, August 1, 2003, our mother Karen Kirstine Jensen passed away peacefully. Predeceased by her husband Otto. She is lovingly remembered by her family and leaves to mourn Johannes (Rita) of Denmark, Jens (Sheila), Anders (Lissi), Birgit (Erik), Esther (Knud) and Karl (Lene); 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one niece, Margit (Knud). She also leaves numerous family members in Denmark. Karen was born in Denmark in 1915, married Otto in 1937 and settled in Flamsted. Here they were involved in the community and had six children over the next few years. During the Second World War, they became active in the Danish Resistance Movement, which resulted in Otto being sent to a concentration camp and Karen was left to tend the farm and children. They immigrated to Canada in 1959 with five of their children. Here Karen became involved in the Danish Church and after her family, this was a very important part of her life. Mom lived a full life, but the last few years have been a struggle and she is now at peace. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Ansgar Lutheran Church, 9554 - 108A Avenue. Interment will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
