With great sadness we announce that Arlene Skaggs of Edmonton passed away suddenly on February 17, 2004 in her 56 year. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her sons Kenneth and Darren of Edmonton, and daughter Terri of Sault Ste. Marie; brother Don Crockett (Lynn); nephews Leigh and Jay; life long friend Terry Lineker; also Jason Lenko and many relatives and friends. Arlene was predeceased by her parents and sister Margaret. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 26, at 6:30 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church, 1111 - 57 Avenue. passed away suddenly in Victoria, BC February 18, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Amalia, and step-son Martin (Marie Andree). It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Edith Laidler (Ellwood) of Edmonton on May 15, 2004. Edith was born in Riviere Qui Barre, Alberta on December 6, 1915. She was predeceased by her husband Pete and son Tom as well as two sisters and two brothers. She leaves to mourn her passing her son James (Lynn) Laidler and daughter Janet (Michel) Saab, her sister Elsie Williams, her grandchildren, Carmen, Brandy, Sami, Ada, Thuraya, Bechara, Adam, Elizabeth and Morgan. Her great grandchildren, Ethan, Nolen, Franklin and many nieces and nephews. On May 14, 2004 Mr. Elmer Larsen of Edmonton, AB., passed away at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving wife Katherine, three daughters, Doris Bourassa, Gail (Kevin) Gainer and Janice (Vance) Robinson all of Edmonton, Ab., six grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one sister Clara Thompson of Edmonton, Ab., and one brother Glen (Pat) of Grande Prairie Ab., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Postey of Sherwood Park on May 11, 2004 after a lengthy illness at the age of 71 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Donna, children Sharon (Jack), Wayne (Elizabeth), Guy (Denise) and Penny (Dave), nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is survived by brothers Peter (Janet), John (Elizabeth), and Steve (Eleanor). He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Dmytro, Michael and Nicolas. Bill will always be remembered for his gentle heart and deep pleasure he found in his grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. On August 5, 2004, Clifford Healey of Edmonton passed away at the age of 87 years. Marion was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 28, 1924 and passed away peacefully in Edmonton, Alberta on August 9, 2004. LEHANKY, Barbara (nee Baker)
It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our mother Barbara Lehanky, on Sunday, August 8, 2004, at the age of 63 years. Barb will be lovingly remembered by her son Brent (Loriann), daughter Loree, grandson Jacob and former husband Paul. Barb also leaves her brother Bert (Heidi), sister-in-law Connie and many other family members and close friends. Barb was predeceased by her mother and father, Fran and Bill, brother Jim and brother Alex. Mom was talented at so many things, she loved to cook, crochet, play bridge and tend to her flowers. She enjoyed traveling and very much treasured the many summers spent with her family and friends at Seba Beach. She embraced life to the fullest and even in the last year, with her health failing, she always had a smile on her face and an extremely positive attitude. She was a wonderful Mother and friend. We were blessed to know and love her, she will be missed each and every day. Many special thanks to Dr. Allison Theman and all the staff at St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital Palliative Care Unit.The caring and compassion our mom received will never be forgotten. LUCICH, Rod (Milorad Vaslav Nevar)
Rod (Milorad Vaslav Nevar) Lucich, born July 7, 1946 in Vancouver, passed away in the early hours of August 7, 2004 in Edmonton after a prolonged illness. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Mishah) Nicoli of Edmonton, Nicolle of Vancouver, as well as his two sons, Russell Jeffrey (R.J.) McCaw and Caltrin, both of Edmonton. He is also survived by his brother, Dorio Lucich, and his wife Sonja Sajlo-Lucich both from Berlin, Germany. His passing will also be mourned by his nieces, Marisa and Tania Lucich of Vancouver, Nina Lucich of Toronto and Marta Lina Olynyk-Lucich of Montreal; and his nephew, Gregor Lucich of Berlin, Germany. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Elizaveta Maria Lucich on September 4, 1999 and his father, Theodore (Ted) Nicolain Lucich in February 1966. Many relatives and friends will find the world diminished by his passing. Rod was raised near Montreal, Canada until 13 years of age, when his family moved to Edmonton. The Alberta capital has been his home ever since. His early career was as a musician, playing guitar in many bands in Edmonton and Western Canada with trips to Eastern Canada for short periods. He started a second career in his 30's as a salesman and was employed by Crosstown Motors for the best part of that career over the past 20 years. He had many awards to his credit and was recognized by his colleagues for his assiduous work and good contacts with his customers. Rod's love of life, especially flamenco and blues music, art, literature and all things beautiful will be remembered by all who knew him. On Monday, August 9, 2004, Helen Mackenzie of Vegreville, AB passed away at the age of 70 years after fighting a very courageous battle with cancer. Helen will be sadly missed by her five children, Gerald (Annette) of Mundare, AB, Donald (Sylvia) of Hefley Creek, B.C., Beverly (Todd) VanRuyskensvelde of Crawford Bay, B.C., Marlene (Sandy) McLaren of Sherwood Park, AB and Cheryle (Richard) Iwaskow of Edmonton, AB; nine grandchildren, Jason, Shannon (Blair), Troy, Nicole, Travis, Sandy, Amanda, Ashley and Lisa and one great-granddaughter, Reanne. Helen is also survived by her loving companion Bill Dobush and his children, Rick (Pat), Peggy (Don) Lobay, Douglas and their families; four brothers and three sisters, Ed, Ray (Charlotte), Al (Ollie), Leo (Joan), Joey (El Smith), Sally (Leroy) and Aggie (Ken) Birtles, sisters-in-law, Lois, Lorraine, Catherine (Alex) Skaggs; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Charlie in 1975, her granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Iwaskow in 1984; her parents, Anthony and Johanna; parents-in-law, Donald and Jeanne; brothers, George, Jack and Joe; sisters-in-law, Onnie, Doreen, Betty, Lorraine, Lily and Lena; one brother in-law, Bill. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Vegreville, Alberta where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Isagani Avinante as the Celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, St. Albert, Alberta.
