LEUNG, Kwei Lin
June 12, 1913 - December 4, 2003
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kwei Lin, on December 4, 2003 at the age of 90 after a brief illness at the Misericordia Hospital. As a girl, she was not officially schooled, but managed to educate herself. She married at sixteen, and survived smallpox, famine, war, and the loss of three children. In 1952, she brought her two surviving young children out of China to Hong Kong to rejoin her husband, Ping-Lit, who was separated from her by the war. She emigrated to Canada in 1965 to join her older daughter. Along with her husband, she worked hard, long hours to build a new life. Together, they encouraged their children and grandchildren to strive for excellence, especially in their professions. She was predeceased by her husband in 1996, but lived independently to the end, serving as a role model for honest perseverance. She is survived by her children, Wanda Mah (the late Tongston Mah), Dr. Dominic Leung (Lillian Pon), and Dr. Frances Leung (Dr. Bruce Abbey); grandchildren, Dr. Linda (Dr. John Yeunglaiwah), Lily, June, Harold, and Jason Mah; Dr. Anthony, Janice, Diane, and Katherine Leung; Dante, Darien and Desiree Abbey; great-grandchildren, Michael, Paul and Nicole Yeunglaiwah. Visitation Friday, December 12, 2003, at 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, where Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 1:30 p.m., followed by interment in the family plot in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. We would like to thank Dr. Bill Suen, the staff on 7East at the Misericordia Hospital, and the Home Care nurses for their excellent care. Connelly-McKinley Ltd., 10011-114th St.; (780) 422-2222,
