Mariane M. Spence passed away on November 17, 2003 at the age of 56 years after a courageous 4 year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Grant of 33 years; daughter Erin of Olds; son Andrew (Christie) of Sherwood Park; parents Catherine and Max Taylor of Calgary; sisters Jane (Neil) Olson of Olds, Diane (Ron) French of Calgary; brothers Malcolm "Mike" (Linda) Taylor of Calgary, Cameron (Anne) Taylor of Edmonton; as well as many relatives. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the Olds United Church, 4810 50 St. Olds. Memorial tributes in Mariane's honor may be made directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, 10909 Jasper Ave., Suite 345, Edmonton, AB. T5J 3L9. STEPHEN, Richard Allen
On November 15, 2003, Richard Allen Stephen of Edmonton passed away at the age of 44 years. Richard is survived by his father William; two brothers: Ian (Ingrid), and Brian (Danita), also seven nieces and nephew: Christopher, Robert, Jenna, Justin, Regis, Connor, and Colton. Predeceased by his mother Ella Mae Stephen in 2000. A Memorial Service has taken place. Cremation.

On November 16, 2003, Mrs. Betty Tarbet of Fort Smith and formerly of Edson, Alberta, passed away at the age of 76 years. This gentle woman will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness and interest in one and all, and her passion for gardening and travel. She is survived by her daughter Janie (Lawrie) Hobart, son Bruce (Jade), grandchildren John, Thomas, Chloe, and Chazz. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1979. There will be a Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2003 at the United Church in Edson. Foster and McGarvey Funeral Homes of Edmonton are in charge of arrangements. VAN SOEST, John (Opa)
January 9, 1928 - November 17, 2003
John was born in the small town of Wanssum, Netherlands. He found and married his "angel" Corry in the Netherlands on April 19, 1954, the following day they flew together to Canada to start their new lives. They settled in Edmonton and raised eight children together, where his belief in family, faith and friends were of the utmost importance to him. While we miss him, we take comfort in knowing he has gone to keep company with his beloved daughter Yvonne (1996). He will be sorely missed and forever treasured by his loving wife Corry; their children Marlie (Ben) Correlje, Anita Gaylard, John (Shannon) van Soest, Frank (Cheryl) van Soest, Teresa (Bernie) Wanat, Robert (Lorraine) van Soest, Richard van Soest; son-in-law Barry (Linda) Keohan and Opa's 19 grandchildren Megan, Ryan, Ashley, Jeff, Brad, Katie, Chris, Kristen, Jessica, Brittney, Kelsey, Matt, Adam, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Carlee, Eric, Scott and Krystina. John is survived by his sisters Maria, Nellie, Leonie and brother Louis all from The Netherlands and will be missed by numerous relatives and dear friends. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 20 by the Holy Cross Fathers at Annunciation Church (9420 - 163 Street) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Annunciation Church, 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21. WHITE, Earlington (Earl) David James
We are saddened to announce that on November 15, 2003 Earlington (Earl) David James White passed away after a battle with cancer. Earl was born January 6, 1924. He grew up in Edmonton and surrounding area. He served overseas with the Canadian Military Service Core, as a truck driver. Earl retired to Armstrong B.C. in 1986, after 46 years of driving a truck through Canada and the USA. Survived by his loving wife of 19 years Mary who will miss him dearly. Also survived by his children Eloise Scott, Linda Manning, Richard (Gundi), Darrell (Debbie), Margarett (Dave) Froning; Mary's children Joyce (Bill) Case, Leroy (Tammy) Ergang, Gloria Gerlinski (Shawn), Heather (Wayne) Webster, Lila (Gerry) Ell, Karen Harrison (Ray Couture); his brothers and sisters Violet MacCulloch, Kenneth (Rachel Lord), Clarance (Phyllis), Clare (Jack) Stewardson, Marina Honer, Stanley (Isobel); and 28 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Earl was predeceased by his mother Isabel Katherine, father Carl Earlington, brother Gabril, sister Myrtle and one grandchild Darren. Our families would like to extend a big thank you to the staff at the Vernon Hospice House for making Earl's last days so comfortable, and for supporting Mary and family members through this difficult time. QUAIL, Marion
Formerly of Mont St. Joseph Home in Prince Albert, passed away peacefully November 11th, 2003 at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her father John in 1916, mother Laura in 1979, brothers Jack (Grace) in 1983, Richard in 1982, beloved nephew Patrick in 1991, beloved niece Elizabeth (Awbery) in 1992. She is lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Margaret (Richard), nephew Tim Quail (Nancy), children Erin and David, Julia and Christopher Quail, Matthew Awbery, Susan McLachlan (Morris) and children Hazel and Sarah. Marion was born and raised in Medicine Hat, later relocating to Edmonton where she retired after many years of service with CN Railways. In 1991, Marion relocated to Prince Albert, SK to be close to her family. For the last four years, Marion resided at Mont St. Joseph Home where her wit and kind disposition endeared her to all. Through their care and kindness, the staff at Mont St. Joseph also became her family. A Memorial Service will be held for Marion at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14th, 2003 at Mont St. Joseph Chapel in Prince Albert. Interment will take place at a later date in Medicine Hat. In lieu of other tributes, donations will be much appreciated to Mont St. Joseph Home, 777 - 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 8C2. RIOUX, Donna Diane
1964 - 2003
On November 6th, 2003, our beloved daughter, Donna Diane Rioux (Klepachek) was tragically taken from us. She leaves to mourn her two precious children, Stephanie and Mitch; her loving parents, Peter and Jean Klepachek of Kamloops; her sister, Betty (Glen) Rumley and niece Heather and nephew Duncan, all of Courtenay, B.C.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Alberta and British Columbia. All of Donna's many friends in the Dog Training Association; The Tritan Swim Club and the Karate Club will greatly miss her. Donna will be remembered for her avid competitive spirit in dog shows in Canada and the United States. Donna loved the great outdoors and hiking. She taught her children to appreciate nature to the fullest. On November 11, 2003 Erna Hildagarde Scheinas of the Sherwood Park Care Centre, formerly of Leduc passed away at the age of 80 years. Erna is survived by her loving children, Lloyd Scheinas, Julie Scheinas, Jan (Jim) Deters, all of Leduc and Dolly (Dallas) Tews of Edmonton; grandsons Brian (Connie) Tews, Andrew Tews, both of Edmonton; Michael and Steven Deters of Leduc; brother Walter (Gertie) Froelich, sisters Hilda (James) Tobin, Irma Carlyle-Bell, Edith Frick and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur and parents Henry and Julianna Froelich, and infant son Leonard and sister Gertrude Johannsen. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church, Leduc (4606-48 Street) with Reverend Greg Kern officiating.
