SUTTON, Elizabeth "Betty" Lillian
Was born in Ottawa, ON, on August 7, 1925. She passed away peacefully at home with those who love her on August 19, 2004 at the age of 79 years, after a very long battle with cancer. Betty was the best friend, partner and wife of Fred for 42 years. She is the mother of Kathleen "Kit" (Albert) Eggen. She was also the mother of Sandra, Jeff (deceased), Richard Gadde, Brian (Betty) and Chris (Elaine) Sutton. Betty was "Nana" of Krysta and Kourtney Smith and Brittney Sutton. She was grandmother of Lisa, Taryn and Paula Gadde and Paige, Connor and Mason Sutton. She was great-grandmother of Brandon and Stephanie Hermanson. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Trinity United Church, 220 20 St., Fort Macleod, AB, Reverend Aldeen McKay officiating. On Sunday, August 29, 2004 Mr. Floyd Way of Edmonton passed away at the age of 68 years. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Helen Way; his son, Keith (Susan) Way and their children John and Caitlin; his son, Ken and his children, Josh, Jessica, Jenna and Jed and their mother Outi; his daughter, Cheryl (Douglas) Ketsa and their children, Ryan and Ben; one brother, Lloyd; one sister, Winn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. STRYCHAR, Dennis
Quietly in his sleep Dennis Strychar of St. Albert, Alberta passed away at the age of 58 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene of 36 years; one son and one daughter, Dr. Kevin (Jennifer) Strychar of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Michelle (Basil) Vandegriend of Sherwood Park; his mother, Jean Strychar of Waskatenau; one sister, Brenda Strychar of Redwater; uncle Steve Strychar and auntie Alma of Leeshore. Also, he leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dennis was predeceased by his father, Sam on December 1, 2003. A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Worldwide Church of God (15641 - 96 Avenue) in Edmonton, Alberta with Pastor Robert J. Millman officiating. On August 29, 2004 Vina Thorn of Wetaskiwin died peacefully at the age of 99 years, three months short of her 100th birthday. Vina is survived by her loving family; daughters, Doreen and Howard Stafford of Fairmont Hot Springs, B.C., Lavina and Herman Barber of Wetaskiwin and Frances Frost of Edmonton; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Vina was predeceased by her husband, Frank; daughter, Jessie Bird and an infant son; parents, William and Emma Meyer; three brothers and four sisters. On Monday, August 30, 2004, Our Lord called home our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Gradus Van Beek. He will be lovingly remembered by his seven children, Case (Shirley) of Neerlandia, Morris (Tina) of Leduc, Garry (Helene) of Sherwood Park, Dennis (Ineke) of Leduc, John (Kori) of Barrhead, Shirley (Dick) Apoll of Peers, and Andy (Joanne) of Rolleyview, as well as 26 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren. Gradus was predeceased by his loving wife Woutera on November 8, 1997, his parents and seven brothers. On Saturday, August 7, 2004 Kay Walter of Edmonton passed away at the age of 74. Kay will be dearly missed and loved forever by her sons, Gordon and Alex (Laurie); grandchildren, Lindsay and Shawn; brother, Alex (Jeanette) Riebel; sister, Lydia (George) Poole; brother-in-law, Fred (Sandy) Walter; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, USA and Germany. WOOD, Robert Hill
July 1, 1917 - August 8, 2004
Robert Hill (Chips) Wood passed away quietly at home in Edmonton on Sunday, August 8. He is survived by his brother Douglas and wife Betty of Auckland, New Zealand; son Brian and wife Cathy; three daughters: Marion, and husband Gary Kozie; Jocelyn Churchill and husband David; and Kathryn. Chips is also survived by six grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. Chips came to Canada in 1942 as a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. He married Inez Norem of Edmonton in 1944 and after a short stay in New Zealand, the Wood family returned to Canada in 1948 and spent most of their lives in Edmonton. A Memorial Service for Chips Wood will be held at Strathearn United Church, 8510 - 95 Avenue at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11. Donations in memory of R.H. (Chips) Wood may be made to the Alberta Cancer Board, c/o Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, T6G 1Z2. Foster & McGarvey, 428-6666.

It is with great sadness that the family of Hedwig Spatz inform you of her passing. Hedwig is survived by Edward, her loving husband of 54 years, daughter Gretel (Pat) Tchida and sons Alfred (Linda) and Herbert Spatz, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
