Henry Amos Eversen, of Turtleford, SK

EVERSEN: Henry Amos Eversen passed away in the Riverside Health Complex, Turtleford, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the age of 97 years.
Henry is survived by: five children: Doris Eversen of Saskatoon; Don Eversen and his wife Anna of Spruce Lake; Edie and her husband Hank Veerenhuis of Mount Nebo; Les Eversen and his wife Jean of Livelong; Ralph Eversen and his wife Laverne of Vernon, BC; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
Henry was predeceased by his wife Dolce Eversen in January of 1986, his parents, brothers, and sisters in Germany, infant grandson Darcy and daughter-in-law Sharon Eversen.
The funeral service for Henry was conducted from the Livelong Community Hall, Livelong, Saskatchewan on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Pat Ribey officiating.
Hymns sung were “Rock of Ages,” “In The Garden,” and “Shall We Gather At The River,” accompanied on the organ by Darlene Kivimaa.
Honorary pallbearers were all of Henry’s friends.
Active pallbearers were: Ian McPhedran, Todd Smith, Garry Kaplar, Delon Bleakney, Corey Van Zandbergen and Leo Millard.
Interment followed in the Livelong Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements.

John Templeton Brown, of Lloydminster, AB

BROWN: John Templeton Brown passed away in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the age of 95 years.
John was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on August 31, 1909. He came to Canada with his family in May 1924 and farmed in Rutland, Saskatchewan. They moved to Senlac, Saskatchewan a couple of years later. They farmed and did custom work threshing and buzzing wood. John worked on a ranch in Merritt, B.C. for awhile. He received a medal for weight lifting in Vancouver while he was there. He married Reeta Trodd on December 4, 1943 and farmed until he retired in 1974 after which they traveled extensively.
John was very active in the community and was Reeve in the RM of Senlac. He was a member of the Forresters, School Board and Wheat Pool.
John loved dancing and traveled many miles to go square dancing. He also enjoyed gardening, working in his shop, reading and traveling.
John and Reeta moved to Lloydminster in 2001 and continued to go back to the farm in the summer until his health failed and he moved to the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre.
John is survived by: his loving wife of 61 years Reeta; his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Malcolm (Donna) and their family: Michelle (Curtis), Easton and Devyn; Greg (Carla), Caleb and Jax; Cam (Sara) Gloria (Frank) Laverty and their family: Merrian (Craig), Wade, and Vernon Gordon and his family: Curtis (Ami), Gage, Garrett; Danae; Ian (Heather) Brown; Sister-in-law Eva Mills as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by: his parents Matt and Elizabeth Brown; his sister Agnes and Allen Birtle; his brother Matt and Agnes Brown; his brother-in-law Lloyd Mills and sister-in-law: Stella and Stanley Vogan.
The funeral service for John was conducted from the Senlac Community Hall, Senlac, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. C.S.T. with Pastor Doug Middleton officiating.
A eulogy was given by Michelle Brown-McLean and Danae Brown.
The hymn sung was “In The Garden” accompanied on the piano by Bobbi-Jean May.
Honorary pallbearers were: Tom Nuttall, Grant Manchester, Garry Bradshaw, Ken Brownlee, Neil Forbes and Ken Mawbey as well as all those who shared in John’s life.
Active pallbearers were grandchildren: Merrian Laverty, Wade Laverty, Vernon Laverty, Michelle Brown-McLean, Greg Brown, Cameron Brown, Curtis Brown and Danae Brown.
Interment was held before the service in the Senlac Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements.

Merle Wildon James, of Lloydminster, SK

JAMES: Merle Wildon James passed away in the Lloydminster Hospital on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at the age of 60 years.
Merle is survived by his loving wife Mabel; two daughters: Lorri and Gordon of Calgary and their daughter Mikayla; Lorna and Dave of Edmonton and their children: Brittany and Bryar his mother: Gertie James of Lloydminster; three brothers: Victor James, Lyle and Helen James and Bruce and Shirley James; one sister Gloria and Cyril Flury.
The funeral service for Merle was conducted from the Grace United Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Norm Laird officiating.
A eulogy was given by Dwayne Lundquist and Doug Callbeck.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Oilmen’s Technical Society (O.T.S.).
Active pallbearers were: Dalbert Attfield, Doug Callbeck, Ron Milne, Dave Wasyliw, Jim Hunt, Dwayne Lundquist and Norm Watts.
A private family interment followed in the Lloydminster City Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements.

Doris Jean Nesbitt nee: Beaton, of Lashburn, SK

Nesbitt: Doris Jean (nee, Beaton) passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 30, 2005. Doris was born on June 20, 1924 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan to Hector and Jeanette Beaton. She was the youngest of five children that included Ethel, Forrest, Donald and Wesley.
Doris is survived by: her husband Keith (Lloydminster); daughter Marie (Brian) Carruthers (Lashburn) and their sons, Christopher, Justin and Corey and their families; son Dale (Debra) and their son Reid (Lashburn) daughter-in-law Linda (Chuck) and their sons Wade, Warren and Barret and their families; brother Wes Beaton (Lloydminster); sister-in-law Jean (Forrest) Beaton (Lashburn); sister-in-law Ruth (Allan) Nesbitt (Kelowna) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Hector and Jeanette, son Chuck, sister Ethel (Napper), brothers Forrest and Don, father-in-law Charlie Nesbitt and mother-in-law Mildred Nesbitt, brothers-in-law Allan Nesbitt and Garnet Napper and nephews Garry Napper and Barry Beaton.
Doris grew up in Lashburn, taking her schooling there and working at the local pharmacy and at the family owned BA Service Station. During the war she went to Ajax, Ontario where she worked in a shell factory.
On December 20, 1945 Doris married Keith Nesbitt in Lashburn. They moved to Trail, B.C. in 1946 and returned to Lashburn in 1953 to operate the family farm. In 1975, Doris and Keith retired from the farm and moved to Lashburn. During Doris’ time in Lashburn, she was involved with Kinettes, St. James United Church U.C.W., Hospital Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, South Lashburn W.I., and was always available to help with volunteer work. She was also an avid curler that represented her Branch several times in the Legion Playdowns. In addition to curling, she was a softball fan that became a regular part of the contingent that followed and supported the Lashburn Bluebirds. Keith and Doris remained in Lashburn until 1977, at which time they moved to Uranium City. In 1980, they moved to Westbank, B.C. In 1981, Doris had a stroke which she worked very hard to make a remarkable recovery from. They remained in Westbank until 1986 at which time they returned to Lashburn to be near family and friends. At every stop of the way, Keith and Doris developed lifelong friendships and maintained contact with many of those friends throughout the years.
Doris had a very special relationship with, and cared very deeply for, all of her nephews and nieces. Several have expressed that to them, she was the “fun aunt” and that they had many special memories of times spent with her.
Failing health created a need for a move to Pine Island Lodge (Maidstone) in 2003, followed by a move to Jubilee Home (Lloydminster) in 2004 where she remained until January 12, 2005 when she was hospitalized due to a broken hip. Further health problems developed following surgery and despite a brave effort, Doris passed away on January 30.
The family of Doris Nesbitt would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the Lloydminster Ambulance Service, doctors Dupluoy and Van Vuren and the staff at the Lloydminster Hospital and to the staffs at Jubilee Home in Lloydminster and Pine Island Lodge in Maidstone for their care and compassion for Mom and for their unending support for us throughout Mom’s illness. Also, our thanks to friends and family who have been there for us with their support. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring.
It is the wish of the family that any memorial donations may be made to the Lloydminster Hospital - Palliative Care Unit, Jubilee Home (Lloydminster), Pine Island Lodge (Maidstone) or to the charity of your choice.

Omer Leo Livingston, of Turtleford, SK

LIVINGSTON: Omer Leo Livingston of St. Walburg, SK passed away on January 15, 2005 in Turtleford, SK at the age of 92.
Omer was born on February 28, 1912 at Wabeno, Wisconsin, USA. In 1916 the family moved to Hayter, AB. In 1920 they moved to Carmel, SK and in 1922 to a homestead one mile south of Middle Lake, SK. Omer did carpentry work with his father, helping in the construction of St. Peter’s College at Muenster, SK and the Ursuline Academy in Bruno, SK. Omer traveled to BC, ‘riding the rails’ in the 30’s, as a lot of the men were doing, looking for work. In 1939 he came to St. Walburg with an elevator crew to build one of the elevators. On November 19, 1941 Omer married Evelyn Livingston of St. Walburg, at Meadow Lake, SK. They moved to Chitek Lake, SK where Omer worked in the bush cutting cordwood. On November 5, 1943 Omer enlisted in the army and Evelyn and their infant son, David, returned to the farm at St. Walburg. Omer’s basic training was at Red Deer, AB. He was then transferred overseas where he was stationed at Aldershot, England and from there went to Continental Europe, which included Belgium, Holland, Germany and France. He was discharged on August 1, 1946 and returned to civilian life. Upon his return to St. Walburg he and Evelyn eventually took over the farm. Four more children completed the family, Noel, Leo, Evelyn and Elaine. Omer never officially retired, he continued to be involved in the farm, but in recent years his son, Leo, took over all the major responsibilities. Dad would sit on strategically placed chairs around the yard to be able to watch Leo doing different farm jobs. He would offer his advice and help out in any way that he could. Dad loved the farm, and remained on the farm until he entered the hospital on January 3, 2005.
He was predeceased by: his wife, Evelyn in 1991; his parents, Henry and Anna; his twin brother, Henry, at birth; his brothers, Noland, Ivan, Norman and twins, Douglas and David; his sisters, Beatrice, Bernice, Theresa and Loretta; his sister-in-law, Kay; his brothers-in-law, Ted Kohlen, Joe Seufert, Steve Furi, Louis Fisher, Ed Taphorn and Lawrence Fischl; and several nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish his memory are: his sons, David (Dianna) and their sons, Michael (Natasha), Zachery, and Matthew, Noel (Selina) and their children, Corrina and her daughter, Samantha, Brent (Valerie), Jeremy, and Aaron, Leo, Evelyn (Roy) and their daughters, Dallas (Jerry), Glee and her daughter Jalaina, Amy, Amber, and Elaine (Ray); his sisters, Darlene (Ralph), Ramona, and Dolores; his brothers, Stanley (Evelyn) and Henry (Emma); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted from the Catholic Church of the Assumption, St. Walburg, SK on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Richard Doll officiating.
A Vigil of Prayer was held on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. in Marshall’s Funeral Chapel.
The interment followed in the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
The pallbearers were David Livingston, Noel Livingston, Leo Livingston, Roy Sankey, Michael Livingston, and Matthew Livingston.
Honorary bearers were “All who shared Omers’s life” and the Royal Canadian Legion, St. Walburg Branch #013.
The ushers were Marcel Larre and Clark Larre.
Marshall’s Funeral Home Ltd. of St. Walburg, SK administered the funeral arrangements.
