Florence is survived by her sister Phyllis Sealey of Victoria, B.C.; her brother-in-law Harold Shannon and sister-in-law Florence Perry o Calgary; her special nieces and nephews, Perry-Lynne Clark, Paddi (Dick) Gallimore, Catherine Shannon (Ken Chow), Pam Stevenson, Lee (Gary) Kirkpatrick, John (Barb) Perry, Rob (Barb) Perry, J.P. Gallimore, Barbara Butler, Ken Perry, Barb Seymour, George Wilson; and other numerous grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Doris Shannon in May of 1997, her brother Cyril Perry in 1994 and her two older brothers, Horace and Donald. Florence was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on November 17, 1904. She loved her family dearly, especially her nieces and nephews whom she cared for as her own. She will be missed by all her relatives as she gave them many happy memories. PETERSON -- Irene Peterson, beloved wife of Dr. Clifford Peterson of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on December 31, 1997 at the age of 73 years. Besides her loving husband Cliff, Irene is survived by her brother Fred Amundson of Swft Current; and her sisters-in-law, Edith, Ruby and Margaret; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. SCHACHER -- Henry Schacher, beloved husband of Mrs. Frieda Schacher of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on January 3, 1998 at the age of 88 years. He is the loving father of Elmer (Carolyn) of Enderby, B.C., Mabel (Alvin) Hauer of Chipmn, Wilfred (Ethel) of Crossfield and Gerald (Judy) of Edmonton; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three stepchildren, Gary (Judy) Isaman of Calgary, Randy Isaman of Vancouver, B.C. and Lynda (Maurice) Fontaine of Blue Ridge, AB. Henry was predeceased by his first wife Elsa in 1970, his parents, eight brothers and two sisters. Henry was born on May 28, 1909 in Katzbach, Russia. He farmed and ranched in the Cypress Hills/Seven Persons area, then at Tofield. He later became a restauranteur. He then retired in Calgary until his death. SLIFKA -- Sally passed away in Three Hills, AB on December 23, 1997 at the age of 60 years. She was predeceased by her mother Margaret (Mac) Slifka in 1993. She is survived by two sisters, Joan Merryfield (Vic), Arline Chartier; and a brother Ron Slika; two nieces, Barbara Peace (Jim), Jacqueline Chartier; two nephews, Miles Merryfield and Raymond Chartier. Sally received her professional training at the University of Calgary and at Washington State University. She worked for the Calgary Catholic School Board for many years, both as a teacher and a speech pathologist and will be sadly missed by her many friends and associates. Sally moved to Carbon, AB in April 1995 and resided there until her death. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W.), on January 6, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. John A. Bastigal, Celebrant. STERKEN -- Johannes Adrianus (John) passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 1, 1998 at the age of 86. Dear father of John A. WILSON -- Rodney Erle passed away suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at the age of 39 years. CHRISMAS -- Gertrude Chrismas (Walker) aged 88 years of Cedars Villa Nursing Home in Calgary, Alberta has been released of pain, and is peacefully in God's hands. Gertrude passed away peacefully on January 2, 1998. Predeceased by her husband Horace i 1972, her sister Myrtle Smith in 1976, her brother Hibbert (Bert) Walker in 1985. Many fond memories she has left her son, Clarence and wife Barb of Edmonton; daughter Blanche and husband Bill Taylor of Calgary; sister Alyce Maruca and husband Joe of Winnipeg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Nancey Walker; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and many relatives and numerous friends. Gertrude was born on May 2, 1909 in R.M. of Rosedale, Manitoba. She married Horace Chrismas, November 25, 1931 at Eden, Manitoba. They lived in Birnie, Riding Mountain, Neepawa and Portage la Prairie. After Horace's death she resided in Calgary, Alberta until her death. Gertrude worked several jobs over the years at Neepawa Burgess and Cleland Stores; in Portage la Prairie at the Fort Lorraine School. She was very active in the community, belonged to the Rebecca's in Neepawa and the West End Community in Portage where she prepared the lunches for dances and many functions for many years. Gertrude was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Calgary and belonged to many groups. COX -- Patricia Viola "Helen" Cox, passed away at her home after a lengthy illness, in Calgary, on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at the age of 80 years. Helen was born in the Calgary General Hospital in July 1917 to Bessie and Daniel Cooly. Known for hercare and concern for others, she touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her husband of forty-two years, Jack; sons, Charles Poulton of Vancouver; daughters, Frances Kennedy, and Edith Rizzo, both of Edmonton. Helen is also survived by her grandchildren, Charles, Frances, Robert, Wayne and Douglas; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert, Harold and William; and sisters, Margorie and Della. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Bernice, brother Glen and grandson Kelvin. FORSEY -- Herbert Jack Forsey passed away in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on Thursday, January 1, 1998, at the age of 84 years. Jack was born at Swift Current, Saskatchewan on November 7, 1913 and had resided in the Salmon Arm area fr the past eight years. Jack was predeceased by his wife Victoria in 1984. He is survived by two sons, Wayne of Winnipeg, and Greg of Calgary; four grandchildren, Joel, Jennifer, Caitlin and Meghan. FRIZZELL -- Mary Angela "Angie" Frizzell went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 5, 1998 at the Forest Grove Care Centre at the age of 84 years. Angie leaves behind three sons, Rev. Lawrence of South Orange, New Jersey, Richard "Dick" (Bonnie) ofCalgary, David (Beatrice) of Red Deer; daughter Jean (Alan) Samuelson of Mission, British Columbia; daughter-in-law Faye of Calgary; twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Angie was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1990 and son Dennis in 1992. Angie taught primary school in many different locations throughout Alberta for several years. Prior to her retirement, she taught at Holy Trinity School for eleven years. She was also an active member of the Holy Trinity Parish up until her passing. A sincere thank-you to the volunteers and staff of the Forest Grove Care Centre and a special thanks to Cathie Adams.
