WEBER

Mrs. Lena Weber of Red Deer went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 82 years on March 12, 2001 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Lena was born on October 24, 1918 at Kolatsehowka, Romania. She arrived in Canada at the age of six and was raised in the Scapa, Alberta area until she left to work in Calgary. After marrying Carl on October 22, 1939, they farmed in the Endiang area before moving to Stettler in 1945. Lena retired in Red Deer in 1982 and has been a resident of the Parkvale Lodge for the past 12 years. She enjoyed singing old time gospel songs, working with the flowers of her garden and doing needlework. She particularly loved spending time with her family. With her trade-mark smile and contagious laugh, she lovingly helped and served others her entire life. She is survived be her three loving daughters and sons-in-law: Lorraine and Reinnie Bauer (Calgary), Eileen and Dick Brown (Hay Lakes) and Betty Ann and Stan McKinty (Red Deer); six grandchildren: Janice and Mike Whitelock (Grande Prairie), Darrin and Jennifer Bauer (Regina), Deborah and Bruce Rafuse (Springbrook), Diane Brown (Camrose), Lori McKinty and Mike Moffett (Calgary) and Travis Bauer (Los Angeles); four very special great granddaughters; Jaclyn and Kaylee Whitelock, Natalie Bauer and Erica Rafuse; 13 siblings; Arnold (Esma), Alvina (Nat), Mary (Helmut), John (Lucille), Emmanuel, Otto, Victor (Violet), Albert (Tina), Emma (Ken), Walter (Diane), Ernie (Margie), Leo (Shirley), Florence; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Jack) Benedict; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl on October 22, 1985, one brother, Roland, two sisters-in-law, Frieda Erion and Ivy Erion. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Parkland Funeral Home, 6287-67A Street, Red Deer on Friday, March 16, 2001 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend James Schuelke officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Deer Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the organization of the donor's choice. WETZEL

Edwin (Ed) Wetzel of Red Deer died peacefully in the comfort of his family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 86 years, on Friday, March 16, 2001. He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife, Edna (Iverson); children Clarice, Garry (Madeleine), Allan (Gail), Ken (Donna), Nancy (Gord); brother Sam of Bentley; grandchildren Graeme (Kelly), Angela, Owen, Sonya, Michael, Matthew, Lindsay, Lauren, Leah, Kelli (Travis/Trevor) and Jesse; many nieces and nephews, and a soon-expected first great grandchild. Ed and Edna married in 1942 and Ed served in the RCAF from 1942 to 1946. They spent many years farming in the Elkhorn area, before moving to Red Deer in 1960. Ed worked at Deer Home for 17 years. He loved lawn work and took pride in his achievements at Red Deer Breweries as well as many other properties. Ed loved golf, bowling and curling and never forgot the value of hard work. His willingness to help others, friendly nature and strong moral values touched the lives of many. Ed's family thanks Dr. Bouch for his special care and understanding. At the request of Ed, there will be no visitation or public service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Deer & District SPCA or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Mr. Peter Wieler, beloved husband of Katherine of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the age of 87 years. WILLIAMS

Margaret Rose Williams. On Monday, March 26, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer, we lost our beautiful wife, mother, sister, grandma and friend. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 38 years John of Delburne; her children Denita (Dan Tookey) of Whitecourt, Alberta; grandsons Cory and Joshua; great grandson Grayson, Scott (Sonya) of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Marina Yellowbird of Red Deer and grandchildren Chelsea, Sierra and Cole, Darla Moore (Wayne Jackson) of Delburne, grandson Jade and Aleah Williams of Delburne. Also by her sister Jean Rutter (Keith) of Dryden, Ontario, brother Wayne Antichow (Linda) of Swan River, Manitoba and numerous family and friends. Margaret is predeceased by her parents Joe and Edna and granddaughter Chantelle. Memorial Services will be held from the Delburne Community Hall on Sunday, April 1, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Doug Hill. Interment will follow at a later date. We invite all her friends to share this memorial service with us. In lieu of flowers we ask that all donations be sent to the Alberta and Canadian Cancer Societies. Mr. David Alexander Cotton of Red Deer passed away on June 12, 2001 at the age of 53 years. A Memorial Service will be held in Brandon, Manitoba at a later date. MAH

Mr. Wei Mah, beloved husband of Moon Mah, and long time resident of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 10, 2001 at the age of 73 years. Wei was born on April 14, 1928 at Canton, China. He met and then married Moon on February 16, 1949. Through fifty-two years of marriage, they did everything together, and in 1956 they founded Wei's Western Wear and became a pillar of the community, which they called home and dearly loved. A skilled craftsman, Wei quickly earned a reputation of honesty and integrity that provided him a legion of loyal customers and a lifetime of friends. Wei's departure was sudden and unexpected and he will be sadly missed by all people that knew him. Throughout his lifetime of achievements and accomplishments, Wei has touched hundreds of lives, but he essentially remained a simple, humble and highly honorable man whose greatest pleasure was having a family dinner that he passionately prepared. Though his departure was untimely and too sudden, he lived a full and happy life and he leaves the world with no regrets. As well as his loving wife, Moon; Wei is survived by his three sons, Stephen (Marilyn) Mah and their sons, Michael and Nathan, all of Red Deer, Chung Mah of Red Deer and Allen (Brenda) Mah of Red Deer; his two brothers, Henry (Amy) Mah of Rocky Mountain House and Joe (Kim) Mah of Carstairs; his sister, May (Henry) Kwan of Rocky Mountain House, brother-in-law, Hung Lee of Edmonton and his nephew, Tom (Pauline) Lee of Stettler. In addition, he is survived by nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Wei was predeceased by his two sisters, Sen Lee and Sun Wong; and his brother, Poy. Relatives and friends are invited to come and share their memories with the family at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Friday, June 15, 2001, between the hours of 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Wei's life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, on Saturday, June 16, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Duffin and Mr. Ling Fung officiating. Mrs. Doris Marguerite Moore of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 14, 2001 at the age of 90 years. Doris is survived by her four nieces and nephews, Anna-Marie Patrick of Toronto, Miki (Tim) Woodbridge of Hartford, Connecticut, Brian (Shirley) Mills of Red Deer, and Gerry (Marie) Mills of Squamish, B.C. Predeceased by her brother and sister, Oswin Mills and Vera Nechkin. Graveside services will be held at the Red Deer Cemetery, on Monday, June 18, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. with Leanne V. Hall officiating. NELSON

Mr. A. Bryan Nelson, beloved husband of Mary Nelson, of Red Deer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2001. Bryan was born on December 2, 1929 at Wetaskiwin. He graduated from Wetaskiwin High School and then received his degree as a Psychiatric Nurse at Ponoka. Bryan came to work at what was known as Deerhome, as a unit charge then as division manager when it became Michener Centre. Since his retirement, Bryan has been involved in volunteer work with the Food Bank, Historical Society, Red Deer & District Museum, Sunnybrook Farm, worked many a bingo, and many an antique sale. As well as his loving wife Mary: Bryan is survived by his loving children Derek (Nancy) of Red Deer, Brenda Barron and her children Matt, Geoff, Katie and Tessa of Fernie, B.C., Kirk (Chantal) Heuser of Edmonton, Mia (Gregory) McClung and daughter Riley of Edmonton, Barry Doherty of Red Deer and Randy (Alice) Doherty of Bonnyville; as well as his brother Doug (Rosalie) Nelson of Courtney, B.C. A memorial service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 45 Street, Red Deer, on Monday, June 18, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. with The Reverend Gordon Cunningham officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to the Red Deer & District Museum Society, 4525 47A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 6Z6.
