Shirley Ann Seitz of Blackfalds passed away on March 1, 2001 at the age of 62 years. She is survived by her loving husband Lloyd of Blackfalds, one daughter Debrah (Wally) Thacker of Red Deer; two grand- daughters, Sarah Stark of Red Deer and Julie Stark of Red Deer; two brothers, Ken (Sigrun) Hanna of West Vancouver, B.C., and Dr. Brian (Ricki) Hanna of Philadephia, Penn., one sister Cindy Hanna of Saskatoon, SK, a sister-in-law Jennetta Hanna of Lethbridge, her step-mother Marion Hanna of Burnaby, B.C., and by two step-children; Laurie (Val) Seitz of Medicine Hat and Shari Gauthier of Victoria, B.C. Shirley was predeceased by her father Archie, her mother Lilias and her brother Bob. Mrs. Mathilde Marie Selvais of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Nursing Home on March 24, 2001 at the age of 103 years. Born in Roeulx, Belgium on September 9, 1897, she moved to Canada in 1920. Predeceased by her husband Jules Selvais in 1968 she is survived by her daughter Marie Louise (Frank) Morissette of Summerland, B.C., one son Roger (Doreen) Selvais of Lacombe, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three nephews. Mathilde kept active over the years with her stamp collecting, pen pals, love of reading and her involvement with the Salvation Army Home League. Parishioners and friends will kindly meet for prayers at St. Stephen's Catholic Church on Tuesday evening, March 27, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated from St. Stephen's Catholic Church Lacombe on Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery. Nicole Marie Selvidge, loving daughter of David and Sherry and loving sister to Mark, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 16, 2001 at the age of 8 years. Nicole was born on March 4, 1993 at Kentville, Nova Scotia, and moved to Fairview, Alberta in 1998. Just this past December the family moved to Sylvan Lake. Nicole loved school and all of her friends and recently learned the Hip Hop dance at school. She also enjoyed swimming, gymnastics and especially camping and all outdoor activities. Because Nicole was so bubbly, and always smiling, she got the nicknames, Chickie and Sweetie. She was always very sensitive to others and would never miss an opportunity to give a hug and say 'I love you more!!' Nicole could brighten anyone's day. As well, Nicole enjoyed animals and volunteering at the S.P.C.A. As well as her parents, David and Sherry and her brother, Mark; Nicole is survived by her maternal Grammie, Audrey Fancy of Dalhousie, Nova Scotia; Great Grampie, Emerson Lowe of Dalhousie; her paternal Grandpa, Don Selvidge and Grandma, Sue Selvidge, both of Fairview, her aunt, Cy (Alester) Peterson; her three uncles, Shannon Selvidge, Jeff Selvidge, and Nolan (Cathy) Fancy; her cousins, Josh, Clancy, Mason, Shayla, Jennifer, Adam and Breanne; Godparents, Greta and Errol Crossland and numerous great uncles , great aunts, and many other relatives and friends. Nicole was predeceased by her Grampie, Arnold Fancy in 1989, Great Grammie, Pearl Lowe in 1999, and Great Grandma, Eddie Andreason. SMITH
David William Smith of Red Deer passed away at the Valley Park Manor Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, James Robert (Marie) Smith and Peter David (Nancy) Smith, both of Red Deer, Leslie Heather (Greg) Sauer of Slave Lake; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his brother William (Pauline) and their family, Leslie and sister Ruth Dickensen and her family. He was predeceased by his brothers Bertram Smith and Geoffrey Smith, Harry Smith, Stephen Smith, Stanley Smith and his parents. David was married to Elizabeth Irene Gray and raised three children, Jim, Peter and Leslie. He worked at Canada Care and drove his own cab for years. They moved to Alberta in 1974 with his family and brother Leslie and he operated the 'Big Scoop' Sundae Palace in the Port-o-Call Shopping Centre. After that he went into the construction trade. The past two years he resided at the Valley Park Manor Nursing Home. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Mr. Raymond Frank 'Ray' Stifter of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the age of 63 years. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Elisabeth Stifter; his brothers and sisters, Doreen (Eugene) LaFrance, Norman (Rita) Stifter, Helen (Victor) Mearon, Linda (Wayne) Rendall, and Eugene Stifter; also his many nieces, nephews and many friends. Ray was predeceased by his grandparents; his father, Anton Stifter; a brother; two sisters; and a nephew. Funeral Mass for the late Ray Stifter will be held at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Wilkie, Saskatchewan, on Monday, April 2, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. with The Reverend Wald Reschney Celebrant. Dr. George William Irvin Titeley, beloved husband of Ethel for fifty years, of Red Deer passed away at his home on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at the age of 77 years. George was born on January 3, 1924 at Toronto, Ontario, and received all his education there. He graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of Toronto in 1951. In 1942, George joined the RCAF and was trained as a Night Navigator, stationed at Goose Bay, Labrador. After moving to Red Deer, George joined the practice of Optometry with Dr. Dennis Snell in 1953 and later with Dr. Gerald Carvell, until his retirement. George was an avid sportsman and enjoyed tennis, golfing, hockey, basketball and curling. During his younger days, he was the Ontario Junior Boys Tennis champion. George was also active in the Kinsmen Club, K-40 Club, Red Deer Golf and Country Club and the Cottonwood Golf Club in Sun Lakes, Arizona. As well, George was a member of the Wingers Golf Association since 1964, winning the annual competition in 1988. George was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Jane Regnault in 1984; and his son, Dr. Bill Titeley in 1986. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
