DABROWSKI -- Nellie Dabrowski of Calgary, passed away at the Bowview Manor on January 6, 1998 at the age of 86 years. Nellie was the loving mother of three sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil and Erna of White Rock, B.C., Manuel and Marion of Airdrie, ad Walter and Marilyn of Edmonton; and ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Jessie, Stephanie, Blanche and Celia; and two brothers, Joe and Leon. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Edward on January 6, 1993. DIRA -- Mr. Ede Dira of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on January 6, 1998 at the age of 85 years. He was born in Budapest, Hungary and moved to Calgary in 1993. JACOBSEN -- John Jacobsen of Calgary, born in Hygum, Denmark, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on January 6, 1998 at the age of 92 years. He was predeceased by Bertha, his wife of sixty-two years, five brothers and sisters, grandson Chris Fraer, and daughter-in-law Arlene Jacobsen. John is survived by son Norman and his wife Lorna of Arrowwood; and daughter Dinah Fraser and fiance Nick Van Wyk of Sicamous, B.C.; nine grandchildren and their families, including twelve great-grandchildren. MONROE -- Esther Josephine "Jo" Monroe of Nanton, passed away at the High River Hospital on January 6, 1998 at the age of 83 years. SCHULER -- Eileen Laurel Schuler (Hicklin), beloved wife of Bob Schuler, passed away January 4, 1998 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, at the age of 72 years. Besides her husband Bob, Eileen is survived by her brother Lloyd Hicklin; nephew ad niece, Greg Hicklin and Sandra Guild; and a number of cousins, aunts, uncles and families. Eileen had a battle with Alzheimers disease and a broken hip. Eileen was cremated by the Harmony Crematorium, Nisku, Alberta and Harmony Funeral Services, Edmonton. Graveside Memorial Services are being planned with only immediate family in attendance. Her ashes will be buried in the High River Cemetery alongside her mother and father, Charles and Sybil Hicklin.
SHAW -- Annie Florence Shaw (nee Ellis), of Calgary, and formerly of P.E.I., passed away January 6, 1998 at the age of 78 years. She will be sadly missed by her children, S. Keith Shaw (Lavana) of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, John Douglas Shaw (Judy) and udy Pearle Matheson (Clifford), all of Calgary; her grandchildren, Brenda (Bob), Shelly (Gerry), Stephen, Shawn, Jason, Shanne (Buddy) and Shawn; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Landon, Tucker and Garrett; two brothers, John Ellis (Edna) and Ken Ellis, all of P.E.I.; and sister Verna Stewart of P.E.I.; and many other relatives and friends, many of whom are in P.E.I. THOMPSON -- Elsie Anne (nee Toth). Elsie passed away suddenly on Monday, January 5, 1998 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Nanaimo, BC, after a brief illness. Beloved wife of Jim Thompson, Qualicum Beach, BC; and mother of Susan Thompson, Oakille, Ontario. Elsie was a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (1947). She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. BILLS -- Sandra Alice (nee Leach) passed away December 10, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada after fighting a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Sandy will be forever remembered as a loving, devoted wife, mother and friend. She is deeply missd by her husband Ralph (originally from Crossfield); daughters, Carey and Sharon; six grandchildren; and Calgary niece Karen Marks; as well as her many friends. CHAMBERS -- Mrs. Dorothy Ethel Chambers of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on January 8, 1998 at the age of 83 years after a short illness. Dorothy was born October 6, 1914 in Hillcrest in the Crowsnest Pass. She was predeceased by er son Robert in 1952 and her husband Thomas in 1978. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Elaine (Albin) Clauesson of Calgary; and her son Roy (Mabel) Chambers of Edmonton. She is also survived by her five granddaughters and four grandsons, Lorrie (Ken), Sandra (Greg), Beverley (Cam), Patricia (Dave), Jackie, Steven (Jacqueline), Russell (Diane), Colin (Dione) and Trent (Michelle). Dorothy is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Thomas, Jeffrey, Rachel, Ashley and Kyle of the Calgary area and Samantha and Shaun of Edmonton. She was predeceased by eight of her brothers and sisters. Her sister Edith is her surviving sister of Calgary. CHIN -- Jim Chin passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on January 1, 1998 at the age of 89 years. Survived by his wife Sue Ying; and his children, Chee (Jamie), May (Jack), Glen (Susan), Colleen; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Natalie, Ryan, Chritopher and Mathew. Also survived by his older sister Mrs. Mar (Los Angeles). Jim was born in China and immigrated to Canada in 1921. Resided in Moose Jaw for many years before moving to Calgary in 1967. He worked hard all his life before retiring at the age of sixty-five and enjoyed his years after. He will be missed.
