HALLAHAN -- Leona Colleen (Young) Hallahan, beloved wife of Ron Hallahan and beloved mother of Carrie-Ann Hallahan, Rocky Mountain House, passed away at the Rocky Mountain House General Hospital on January 7, 1998 at the age of 44 years. Leona is als survived by her foster family, Jason, Annette and Melissa, her mother Kate Young, her sister Lorraine (Richard) Raiwet and nephew Cody Young, all of Fox Creek, Alta.; her parents-in-law, Maurice and Melva Hallahan, Edson; her sisters-in-law, Brenda (Ed) Kelly, Fox Creek, Debbie (Harry) Kuhne and Nina Hallahan; and brother-in-law Tom (Donna) Hallahan, all of Edson. She was predeceased by her father Walter Young in 1985 and her niece Sherri Raiwet in 1993. JACOBSEN -- John Jacobsen of Calgary, born in Hygum, Denmark, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on January 6, 1998 at the age of 92 years. He was predeceased by Bertha, his wife of sixty-two years, five brothers and sisters, grandson Chris Fraer, and daughter-in-law Arlene Jacobsen. John is survived by son Norman and his wife Lorna of Arrowwood; and daughter Dinah Fraser and fiance Nick Van Wyk of Sicamous, B.C.; nine grandchildren and their families, including twelve great-grandchildren. JAKAB -- John Jakab passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, January 6, 1998. He was born in Pali, Hungary on July 27, 1936 and has lived in Calgary for the past thirty-eight years. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers nion and is survived by his wife Sophie; sons, Jeffrey and Andrew; his sister Theresa; and mother-in-law. JOHNSON -- Daniel Patrick Johnson of Calgary, passed away at home on January 6, 1998 at the age of 4 years. MOSBY -- Mildred Mary Mosby of Calgary passed away at the Bow View Manor on Wednesday, January 7, 1998 at the age of 82 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Karin (Jerry) Topnik and children, Natalie, Corrina and Becky, all of MapleRidge, BC; son Derek Mosby of Calgary; as well as a daughter-in-law Harlene Day and children, Chrissy and Lane of Okotoks. She was predeceased by her husband Owen J. Mosby, son Brian Mosby, and a sister Gwen Eade. Mildred was born at Shoram, England. She came to Canada as a war bride, where she trained and worked as a nurse with the Alberta Children's Hospital. Upon retirement, Mildred and Owen wintered in Arizona and later moved to the west coast. Following Owen's death, Mildred later returned to Calgary, residing at the Bow View Manor until the time of her passing. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4 Street N.W. (within the valley of Queen's Park Cemetery), on Saturday, January 10, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow at a later date at the family plot, Queen's Park Cemetery. OXTOBY -- Arthur Winston (Art) Oxtoby passed away, as peacefully and quietly as he lived, on Monday, January 5, 1998 at the age of 78. Art was predeceased by his son Len, and is survived by sons, Stan and Allen (Gail), and their mother Midge Handfordof Innisfail; grandchildren, Karin and Julie; sisters, Ethel (Bob) Johnsen and Pearl Lusk; brothers, Chester (Adeline), Clifford Roy "Toby" (Wally) and Fred (Dorothy); and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Art was born January 15, 1919 at Innisfail, AB. He spent his growing years on the family farm southwest of Innisfail, attended Olds College and later took over a portion of the farm. This was his life until multiple sclerosis disabled him. He was wonderfully cared for at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre in Calgary during the past twelve years. Relatives and friends are invited to participate in a celebration of Art's life at the Innisfail Legion on January 16, 1998 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Please bring your fondest memories. ROGERS -- Mrs. Mary Rogers, our much loved Mom, Nana and beloved wife of Dick Rogers, passed away peacefully on January 7, 1998 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 87 years. Mary was born in Scotland in 1910, immigrating to Canada at the ageof three. Winnipeg was her home until nine years ago, when she and her husband Dick moved to Calgary. She did love Calgary very much. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Thelma of Selkirk, Manitoba, Barb (Don) of Calgary, Darlene (Pierre) of Victoria; and son Richard (Diane) of Winnipeg; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. SALT -- M. Kathleen, died peacefully at Victoria Hospice on Sunday, January 4, 1998. Born in Calgary, Alberta on August 25, 1908. Predeceased by her husband Prof. W. Raymond Salt (1996). Survived by her son Jim of Victoria; granddaughter Danielle (Olv) Brandfors of Fort Langley; and three great-grandchildren. Kathleen descended from the McDougal and Watling families of New Brunswick. In earlier years, Kathleen was a teacher and for the better part of her life, she devoted her interests to writing short stories and educational scripts for radio. WHIPPLE -- Floyd Robert Whipple passed away peacefully on January 6, 1998 at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home at age 85. Floyd was predeceased by his loving wife Bessie and is survived by his devoted children, Bob (Lynda), Brian, Kim (Toni) and Cori (ee) Forrest. He also leaves behind his six grandchildren, affectionately known to them as "Grumpy", Kelly, Scott, Kari, Brandon Whipple, and Kevin and Colin Forrest. He was predeceased by his brother Earl and survived by Earl's wife Kay. Floyd also leaves behind his many friends. Floyd's passion was sports which brought him a lifetime of joy through his hockey days with the Drumheller Miners, pitching for the Banff Springs Hotel, curling, Big Eight Golf Tournaments at Bowness, pool and dart player at the Army and Navy and Canadian Legion Branch 285. Floyd was also a lifetime member of Earl Grey Golf Club where he founded the Slippery Seven Golfing Group. Floyd's working career was varied, from delivering coal in Drumheller, mechanic for the Dinosaur Bus Lines, The Hudson Bay Company of Calgary, Alberta Gas Trunk Lines (Nova), to owner-operator of College Service Line. During his retirement years, Floyd joined his sons, Bob and Kim at Poly-Drill Products. Floyd will be dearly missed by all. WIBERG -- Mr. George Anthony Wiberg Sr., beloved husband of Mrs. Margaret Wiberg of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at the age of 85 years. George was born May 31, 1912, in Wetaskiwin. He taught school for hirty-seven years throughout Alberta. He dearly loved his family, fishing and hunting and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Besides his loving wife Margaret, George is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Marsha of Calgary, and Dale and Joan of Redwood Meadows; and a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Dave Travis of Calgary; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
