Mr. Henry "Hank" Spidel of Lacombe passed away in the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on February 27, 2003 at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his loving wife Huguette of Lacombe; one son Dennis (Claire) Spidel of Charlottetown, P.E.I.; three daughters, Rosemary (Bryan) Garrett of Calgary, Leslie (Gilles) Pepin of Carlton Place, Ontario, Michele (Michael) Wass of Lacombe; nine grandchildren, Mark, Jillian, Michael, Stephanie, Joshua, Lindsay, Colby, Matthew and Mallory; also by one great grandson Issac; and one sister and three brothers. Funeral services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation at the Central Alberta Crematorium. ARCHIBALD, James Henry
Jim Archibald has passed away in the presence of his family in the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, February 7, 2003 at the age of 86 years. Jim was born on October 20, 1916 in Rosebud, Alberta. He married his wife Raymonde Roberts in 1949. They spent many happy years on a farm in the Clive area. Jim has made farming, cattle and horses, his passions and has been able to live out his years on the farm. He was predeceased by his wife Raymonde in 1985. He leaves to grieve his passing, his friend Irene Bennett; his children, Julia (Frank) Beckstead, Harry (Anne) Archibald and Nancy Archibald. Also, his grand-children, Aaron Williams, Matthew Beckstead, Heather Archibald and Laurel Archibald. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who have countless memories of their uncle Jim. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Lily McCallum, Hattie Stead and brother Leonard Archibald. Jim has always had a strong sense of community. He helped many young people through Boy Scouts and 4-H. He was an active member of the Tees Agricultural Society, the Tee 50+ Club, Clive Seniors group and in the Anglican Church. The family would like to thank the nurses, physicians and staff of the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre for their excellent and compassionate care during Jim's illness. BELL, Beulah
Beulah Grace Bell passed away peacefully Monday, February 17, 2003 at the age of 88 years. She was the last born, and the last survivor of nine children. Throughout Beulah's life she enjoyed many fishing and camping trips, and was always ready for a game of cards or a good game of crib. She was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon Bell, June 15, 1995. She is survived by her son Ben Bell and daughter-in-law Sharon, as well as seven grandchildren and their families. BOLLINGER, Helen
The family of Helen Theresa Bollinger want all to know that on February 18, 2003, this beautiful lady was welcomed home into the loving arms of Jesus Christ at the age of 84 years. Helen was born on January 12, 1919 near Watrous, Saskatchewan to Martin and Ann Wisminity. She lived in the Saskatchewan area until 1948, at which time she married Reuben Bollinger and moved to the Shady Nook District of Red Deer where she lived until her passing. Helen loved life, especially her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and spending as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her son, Duane in 1975 and her husband, Reuben in 1993. She is survived by her loving family, three daughters, Beverly Ask (Lowell), Terry Bollinger, Janice Calliou (Jim) and one son, Rick Bollinger (Ann) and twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. BROWN
Ivor Bruce Brown of Red Deer passed away February 24, 2003. He was born on September 23, 1912 in Saskatchewan. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth of Red Deer and his only daughter Thelma De Young of Eckville, Alberta; one grandson Kevin (Irene) Mattice of Kelowna, BC.; granddaughter Lavona (Brent) Couts of Osoyoos; Evelyn (Kevin) Wilson of Osoyoos, BC, and 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Ralph, Carl, and Lorne of Saskatchewan. Bruce was a generous and kind person donating his time and monetary sums to benefit others. As requested by Ivor Bruce there will be no funeral service. Donations can be made to the Red Deer Regional Hospital to benefit others. After a long and valiant struggle he is at last at rest.
CHARLTON, PETER BRUCE
1933 - 2003
Mr. Peter Bruce Charlton of Innisfail, Alberta, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the age of 69 years. Bruce was born November 8, 1933 on the farm of Humphrey and Muriel Charlton, the youngest of five children. Bruce earned his steam engineering ticket and began a 38 year career as an Engineer at Canadian Forces Base Penhold, working entirely at the base steam plant except for a brief stay at the nearby waste treatment facility. Bruce married Elaine Scott of the Penhold area in 1958, living first in Red Deer and then settling in Innisfail where he lived the last 40 years of his life. Bruce was the father of three children, Richard, Janet and Kenn. Bruce loved his rural roots and made way for his young family by also working part-time for many years on the farm of Doug and Norma Morris of the Innisfail District. His love of anything mechanical was backed by the ability to fix the unfixable, a talent valuable to his friends and neighbours as well as co-workers at the Penhold Base. Bruce also found great enjoyment in the outdoors, having hiked and biked the length and breadth of the Canadian Rockies, skied the Swiss Alps and cruised the fjords of New Zealand. Bruce retired from Base Penhold in 1992 and enjoyed 10 good years of retirement before a sudden illness claimed him earlier this week. Bruce is survived by his children, Rick Charlton, Kenn Charlton and Janet Jacobson as well as his beloved grandchildren, Michael and Kyla. He is also survived by his sister Audrey Kinsey, brother Johnny Charlton and sister Joyce Turple. He was predeceased by his sister Beth Benson. Funeral Services for Peter Bruce Charlton will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Pine Lake, Alberta at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2003. The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring team of doctors and staff on the sixth floor of Foothills Hospital in Calgary who made Bruce's final days as comfortable as possible. DILWORTH
Lillian (Frances) Dilworth of Lacombe, Alberta passed away on February 16, 2003 at the Ponoka Hospital at the age of 84. She was born October 30, 1918 in Stouton, Sask., the oldest of three children. She grew up in Amisk, Alberta. She enlisted in the army in 1942 and it was there that she met her husband Percy. They were married in 1944 and settled in the Lacombe area and moved to the Town of Lacombe in 1953 where she resided until October of 2002. She then moved into the Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka. Mom's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by one son, John and his wife Sharon of Lacombe, as well as three grandchildren, Cathy (Randy) Provencal of Fort McMurray, Colette (Jason) Lunn of Lacombe and Cameron Dilworth of Vancouver, B.C. "G.G." is also survived by her four great grandchildren, Samuel and Ethan Provencal and Cadence and Ryker Lunn. They were her pride and joy. She is also survived by one niece, Rosemary Zuk and family of Edmonton, Alberta. Mom was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, her husband Percy and her son Keith. According to Mom's wishes there will be no funeral service.
