LANGE, Emilie

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Emilie Lange at the Red Deer Nursing Home on Monday, August 16, 2004, at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her loving daughters, Margaret Schroeder of Red Deer and Clara Burmaster of Barrie, Ontario; also seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Simone) Schroeder, Steven (Cindy) Schroeder and Timothy (Colleen Schroeder all of Calgary, Theresa (Tim) Neigum of Red Deer and Linda (Royden) Mills of Stony Plain; David Burmaster of Barrie, and Rebecca (Jason) Cutler of Kenora, Ontario; seven great grandchildren, Christian, Gabrielle and Jonathan, Jr. Schroeder and Katie Schroeder, all of Calgary, Andrew Neigum of Red Deer; Hannah and Jillian Cutler of Kenora, and Sequoia Burmaster-Carlson of Barrie. Emilie is also survived by one sister, Klara Walter in Bitterfeld, Germany. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl in 1984; two brothers and one sister in Germany. Emilie was born on January 9, 1908 in Austria, the fourth child of Ludwig and Christine Orth. When she was twenty years old, she came by herself to Canada to Winnipeg, Manitoba and was employed as a housekeeper. In 1932, she was married to Carl Lange in Duff, Sask. Where Carl operated his Blacksmith for the surrounding farming community. In 1964, they retired to Regina and made many friends in the church and their residential area. Following the death of Carl, Emilie came to Red Deer where she resided until her passing. Emily was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. She was interested in reading about health improvement and the use of herbs, especially garlic, and was always ready with advice to anyone she felt needed help. Emilie also spent time with Clara in Barrie, making friends and acquaintances while there. She will be sadly missed by her family and the friends she made while in Red Deer at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, the Downtown House and the Red Deer Nursing Home. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6187 - 67A Street, Red Deer on Thursday, August 19th at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend James Schuelke officiating. Following a reception at the church, interment will take place in the Alto-Reste Cemetery. In living memory of Emilie Lange, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.

Beloved husband of Phyllis passed away in Vancouver, BC on December 22, 2003. A Funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church 4929-54 St., Red Deer at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31.

MEYER, Hilda Ruth Mrs. Hilda Ruth Meyer, beloved wife of Mr. Claude Meyer of Red Deer, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Hilda was born on April 24, 1920 at Cape Enrage, New Brunswick to Harley and Ethel Barbour. After completing High School and Business College, Hilda worked for a General Motors Dealership, where she obtained her certificate in accounting and continued her working career until she retired in 1980 due to ill health. On December 26, 1944, Hilda was united in marriage to Claude Meyer at Moncton, New Brunswick. In February 1946, the couple moved to Coronation, Alberta. In the summer of 1952, they moved to Calgary and lived there until Claude retired in 1984, at which time they returned to Coronation. While living there, Hilda was very active in the Royal Purple and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion. She was also a Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary and held Life Memberships in both organizations. Hilda leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, Claude, three sisters; Hazel Lyman of Riverview, New Brunswick, Elra Cairns of St. Stephen, New Brunswick and Winnie Cole of Calgary, Alberta, as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to come and pay their respects at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Hilda's Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Joseph Dephoff, S.A.C. officiating. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Hilda's honour may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 1X2.

Mr. Boyd William Paisley of Nelson, B.C. passed away at the age of 43 years on August 21, 2004. A Funeral Service for Mr. Boyd Paisley will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street (on Taylor Drive, one block north of 67 Street), Red Deer, AB on Friday September 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.

PELLISSIER, Daniella

Daniella Pelissier, beloved mother of Aislin, and daughter of Wally and Dany Pelissier all of Red Deer and twin sister of Hedwig of Edmonton, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2004 at the age of 22 years. She also leaves to mourn her grandmothers Aloisia Ulrich of Nelson, British Columbia and Clemence Pelissier of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, special friends Matt Borle, and Janet and Mike Sfuffco. Daniella was born at Fort McMurray, Alberta on May 21, 1982. Prayers will be said at the Parkland Funeral Home, 6287- 67A Street, Red Deer (one block north of 67th Street, on Taylor Drive) on Tuesday August 31, 2004 at 7:30 pm. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48a Avenue, Red Deer on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Don Stein Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Alto Reste Cemetery. If friends desire memorial donations may be made in Daniella's memory to a trust fund for Aislin Pelissier in care of ATB Financial, 4919 - 59 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 6C9. PENNINGTON, Julia

Julia (Judy) Elizabeth Pennington (nee Hackett) passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on August 21, 2004. Judy was born December 13, 1940 and was raised in Rocky Mountain House where she lived as a small child, later moving to Red Deer where she resided until she married William (Bill) Pennington in 1960. Judy spent most of her adult life on the family farm where she lived until her passing. Judy was predeceased by Bill, her husband of 39 years, two infant sons, her parents Olive and William Hackett of Red Deer, her in-laws Bella and John Pennington of Penhold and Auntie Ruth Garrett of Rocky Mountain House. She was a fun loving compassionate woman who cared for her family deeply and left a lasting impression on the people she touched through her friendships and community service. She took great pride in the family farm, her yard and gardens. Judy made her family and the farm her career, but, is also known for the positions she held at Gaetz Cornett Pharmacy (Red Deer) and Innisfail Pharmacy where she established life long friends and memories. She loved working with the public and shared many laughs with her friends and coworkers. She will be greatly missed by her son Michael Pennington of Penhold, her daughter Elizabeth (Kevin) Hoppins of Huxley, her three precious grandchildren Michelle, Stephanie and William and her dog Huey. Nana loved her grandchildren "to bits" and was always delighted to spend time with them. As well, she will be missed by friends and family everywhere. Memorial tributes may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Chapel, 4200-49th Avenue, Innisfail. Interment will follow at the Innisfail Cemetery.

PORTTIN,
April 7, 1914 - August 26, 2004

Eileen Ellen Porttin passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Bethany in Sylvan Lake. She lived most of her 90 years in the Sylvan Lake area where she had many friends and family. Eileen loved her garden and the wonderful flowers that grew there. Everyone who knew Eileen will remember her charm, sense of humor and love of books. She was always ready for a story or a joke. She will be remembered with a smile. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Wilfred in 1969. She leaves a long list of nieces and nephews spanning 3 generations. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sylvan Lake Lodge and the Bethany for their care and love over the last few years. A celebration of Life was held on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the Bethany in Sylvan Lake. RAWLUSYK, Freda

Mrs. Freda Nancy Rawlusyk of Red Deer, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the age of 85 years. Freda was born on April 2, 1919 and grew up on a farm near Hanna, Alberta. While still a teenager, she moved to Drumheller to work, where she met Nick. They were married in 1938 and worked side by side at the Vogue Studio until they retired. In 1987, they moved to Red Deer. While Nick was ill with Alzheimer's Disease, Freda went daily to the Auxiliary Hospital to care for him until his passing in 1990. Freda enjoyed her West Park house and yard and especially enjoyed caring for her flowers and watching the variety of birds that nested in her yard. Freda had a knack for making friends and she knew her neighbors well. She enjoyed the many relatives and close friends who came to visit her, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Freda's interests included current events, knitting, baking, gardening and reading. Freda will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of her family and dear friends. Freda leaves to mourn her loss, her loving children, Bill (Joan) of Calgary, Bob (Fran) of Stettler and Jerry (Pat) of Red Deer, her grandchildren, Kathy (Doug) McDonnell and Bill (Lisa) Rawlusyk, both of Calgary, Dennis Rawlusyk of Melbourne, Australia, Jamie (Dana) Rawlusyk of Innisfail and Cori Rawlusyk of Red Deer and her nine great grandchildren who made her very proud. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Bill Temple of Armstrong, British Columbia. Freda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nick, a daughter, Betty, a sister, Mary and brothers, Jack Temple and Dave Temple. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Father Oscar Monroy celebrant. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Freda's honour may be made directly to the Parkinson's Society, 102, 5636 Burbank Crescent SE, Westech Building, Calgary, Alberta, T2H 1Z6. REYNOLDS, MANUELA

Manuela Jeanette Reynolds passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on the 16th of August 2004 at the age of 42. Manuela was born on the 11th of September 1961 in Waldshut/Tiengen, Germany as the eldest child of Roland and Anita Huber. She grew up and attended school in Lahr, Germany, where her family ran a local business. She attended Hotelberufsfachschule at Tagernsee/Bad Wiessee in Germany for hotel management. She worked in her family business until 1992 when she married and moved to Calgary where she resided until 1993. After her husband retired from the military they returned to Germany to live until 1995, then returning to Alberta to settle in Sylvan Lake until her passing. Manuela enjoyed volunteering her spare time in the library at the Steffie Woima Elementary School in Sylvan Lake and helping with making costumes for the Sylvan Dance Studio both of which her daughter attended. Manuela was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a talented artist and a good friend to all she knew. She was predeceased by her father Roland Huber. Her memory will always be cherished by her husband Art and his family, daughter Jacqueline, mother Anita Huber, brother Sascha Huber and his family, brother-in-law Bill and sister-in-law Rhonda and by numerous friends. A Celebration of Manuela's Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287- 67A Street, Red Deer on Monday August 23, 2004 at 2:00 pm. RYCKIS, Algrid

Algird Ryckis of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the age of 73 years. Algird will be lovingly remembered by Joyce Whitecotton, one son, Kimberly Algird (Jodi) Ryckis of Red Deer, one daughter, Gail Susan (Phillip) Ryckis-Kite of Sherwood Park, one brother, Zigmont (Mary) Ryckis of Chemainus, British Columbia, two sisters; Julia Benoit of Spruce Grove and Bertha (Harry) Wall of Evansburg, and three grandchildren as well as the Whitecotton family. Algird was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Adele Ryckis, an infant brother, Egmont and his brother-in-law, Alcide Benoit. Funeral Services will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 - 67 Street) on Friday, August 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service will follow at the Evansburg Cemetery.
