DYMOND -- Frances Geraldine (nee van Baal) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on December 26, 1997 at the age of 60. Funeral Services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 - 8 Street S.W.). Arangements in care of LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOMES LTD. "Golden Rule Member". Calgary, AB. HARRISON -- Douglas Mark Harrison passed away very suddenly near Lake Louise, Alberta on December 27, 1997, at the age of 36 years. Born and raised in Calgary, Doug graduated from Central Memorial High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degreein Engineering at the University of Calgary in 1983. He worked at Shell Canada Limited for eleven years. Doug was an avid sportsman and loved his family dearly. He will be sadly missed by his wife Arlene; his children, Sam, Christine and Jennifer; his parents, Lorin and Donna Harrison, Frieda Hunter (Ron), Richard Hunter (Ruth); brother Gary (Debbie); sister Linda Brown (Jim), and Elton Hunter (Debbie), Dr. Allen Hunter (Susan) and Gwen Hansen (Kevin). A public Funeral Service will be held at a later date for friends and family. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 3Y6. HARTWELL -- Madge passed away at the Extendicare/Cedars Villa on December 27, 1997 at the age of 76 years. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1962 and her younger sister Velma in 1996. She is survived by her brother Ivor, and sister Lola. adge will be sadly missed by her two sons, Phillip and Grant, both of Calgary; her grandchildren, Paul, Douglas, Andrew, Michael and Mitchell; her nephews, Craig, Brett, Gregory, Wayne, Rod and Fred; nieces, Tracy, Patricia and Susan. At Madge's request there will be no formal Funeral Services. HEYWOOD -- Mr. Robert Alan Heywood passed away at the Foothills Hospital on December 26, 1997, at the age of 77 years. Robert is survived by two sons, Allan Heywood of Calgary, Alberta, and Michael Heywood of Devon, Alberta. At Bob's personal request no Funeral Services will be held. HILL -- Robert Dunsmore (Bob) Hill passed away on December 27, 1997 at the age of 75 years, beloved husband of Laura Hill. HUNWICK -- James passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Extended Care Centre on December 27, 1997 at the age of 81 years. James will be fondly remembered by his wife of fifty-eight years Ethel; his children, Jennie (teve) Kambeitz, Marion (John) Rodzinyak, and Carol McCallum; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his four sisters, Mary, Carrie, June and Edna; and one brother Arthur. Predeceased by his daughter Shirley Yvonne, and his sister Rosaline. James served with the Canadian Army in World War II with the 20th Battery, Lethbridge, and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion. James will be sadly missed by his family and friends and will be remembered in their hearts forever. At James' request, there will be a Private Family Interment only. LAKATOS -- Mari Lakatos passed away at the Bethany Care Centre, Cochrane, Alberta on Sunday, December 28, 1997 at the age of 88 years. Mari is survived by one daughter Ethel (John) Horvath of Cremona, Alberta; four grandchildren, Ilona, Ray (Cheryl),Glen (Carolyn), and Gaylynn (Ron); four great-grandchildren, Troy, Travis, Miranda and Jared. She was predeceased by her husband Louis in 1986 and a daughter Rose in 1991. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter (P.O. McLACHLAN -- Mildred (Millie) Florence McLachlan (nee Ferris) of Calgary, passed away at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary Hospital on Sunday, December 28, 1997 at the age of 85 years. Millie was born on February 16, 1912 in Wawanesa, Manitoba. She lived i Flin Flon, Manitoba for over thirty-five years and has resided in Calgary since 1975. Millie volunteered at the Kerby Centre, and Red Cross, and was a member of the Calgary Caledonian Society. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed horticultural fairs and square dancing. Millie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Dora McLachlan of Faro, Yukon, Dave and Pat McLachlan of La Ronge, Saskatchewan; a son-in-law Colin Acheson of Calgary; six grandchildren, Robbie and Erin Acheson, Jason and Crystal McLachlan, and Mike and Sara McLachlan; as well as special friend Alec Geals of Calgary. She was predeceased by her daughter Roxie Acheson in July 1997, and her husband Robert McLachlan in February 1971. Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen's Anglican Church (1121 - 14 Avenue S.W.), on Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Right Rev. Fred Crabb officiating. MOFFATT -- Loretta Evelyn (Ginger) passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on December 25, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Ginger is survived by her sisters, Cecilia (Pat) Aiello and Rita (Arnold) Moen of Calgary; as well as many nieces, nephes, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Glenn (January 5, 1993). Ginger was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on August 3, 1914. She moved to Calgary in 1941 and has resided in Calgary since then. She has been a longtime member of Corpus Christi, C.W.L. Ginger will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend their very special thanks to Barbara George, B. Cadmon, N. Tulp, and the staff on Unit No. 8 at the Bethany Care Centre, Calgary for the care and kindness given to Ginger. Prayer Services will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 404 Northmount Place N.W. on Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. OTTAWAY -- Lawrence Eric Ottaway. June 3, 1953 - December 25, 1997 It is with the greatest sorrow Katie, Rhys and Megan announce the sudden passing, at home, of our beloved Daddy and husband, Larry, on Christmas Day, 1997. Larry worshipped his wife Mgan of twelve years and their two young children. Everything in Larry's life revolved around his family. Larry will be remembered by all as a loving, devoted father and husband. He brightened the lives of many with his jovial wit, laughter and boundless generosity. He will be deeply missed by all his "buddies" here in Calgary and back East. Larry was the loving son of Ann and Clive Ottaway of Hamilton, Ont. A handsome baby boy they would raise into a strong man with a truly unique and generous nature. They were proud to say he was their son. Mom and Dad's loss is severe. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Rod) who always played the part of mother hen to him and his twin brothers, Robert (Angela) and Richard (Cindy), who on the most part looked up to their big brother. Larry's family is all from the Hamilton area. He was an uncle, playmate and friend to his nieces and nephews, Maggie, Graham, Alun, Lakme and Madeline, and he will be lovingly embraced by Poppa in heaven. Larry was a member of Temple Lodge 6Rc 296 AF & AM with his late father-in-law Bob Jones. A Celebration of Larry's Life for Katie and Rhys will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Friday, January 2, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. In accordance with Larry's wishes, Cremation will follow. Flowers graciously declined, but appreciated by the family would be memorial donations directed to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta (1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 3Y6). The family would like to thank the quick response of the Emergency Medical Services here in the city of Calgary. Also, Medical Examiner Pat Brune for her professionalism, comfort and advice. PECKOVER -- Mr. Ernest (Ernie) Edwin Peckover of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Wednesday, December 24, 1997. Ernie was born March 19, 1928 in Thurcroft, Yorkshire, England. He served in the Royal Air Force and was an acive member of the Temple Lodge A.F. and A.M., North Star Royal Arch, Cypress Preceptory, Scottish Rite, Al Azhar Shrine Temple Chanters, the Rotary Club of Calgary South, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 264. Ernie is survived by his wife and best friend Donna; together with his two daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Jon Becker, and Dorothy and Don Lawrence; and two granddaughters, Meagan and Mandy. He is also survived by his sister Rosalie Parker of Edmonton. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Sarah, two brothers, Bill and George, and his sister Dorothy. PRYKE -- Peter Frank Pryke of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Thursday, December 25, 1997, after a lengthy illness at the age of 85 years. He is the loving father of a son Donald Pryke of Cochrane; and a daughter and son-in-law, Mar and Bruce Goodwin of Sundre; and a granddaughter Cheryl Goodwin. Peter is also survived by a sister Emily Fraser of Vancouver, B.C. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel on November 2, 1982, as well as several brothers and sisters. RIVARD -- Paul passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on December 27, 1997, at the age of 85 years. Paul was born on October 1, 1912 in Montreal, Quebec. His loving memory, curious mind, gentle spirit and unique sense of humour will be chershed by his wife of fifty-five years, Ethel (nee Brady); one sister Louise; and one brother Frederick; one daughter Diane; and two sons, Kenneth and Robert; two daughters-in-law, Micheline and Elizabeth; one son-in-law Edward; and six grandchildren, Erika, Derek, Annie, Melissa, Delaney and Keelin. Visitation will be held at FIRST MEMORIAL, 1635 - 17 Avenue S.W., on Monday, December 29, 1997 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, December 31, 1997 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel, with Father Len Hagel of St. Michael's Catholic Church officiating. RYAN -- In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 28, 1997 Elmus (Bud) W. Ryan passed quietly from this world from within the beloved walls of his longtime home in the Saddle Ridge district of Calgary. Bud was 75 years of age and weary after a lngthy battle with cancer. He is mourned and forever cherished by Muriel his wife of fifty-one years; his children, Todd and Cindy Ryan of Victoria, B.C., Pam and Barry Rinehart of Calgary and Bonnie and Jim Fisher of Whitecourt, AB.; his granddaughter Evann; six grandsons, Kane, Quinn, Jarvis, Riley, Garrett and Liam; his sisters, Rennie, Mary (Bob), Josephine and Vera (Sam); his brother Lloyd (Betty), his extended family and countless friends. Bud was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Elmus Ryan, his sisters, Violet and Mildred, and brothers, Daniel and Alex. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Friday, January 2, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. SCOTT -- William A. (Bill), beloved husband of Mrs. Orla Scott for fifty-six years, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on December 27, 1997 at the age of 77 years. He is also survived by his brothers, Earl, Emerson, Glen, Vince; and by his sisters, Lena and Florence, all of Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents, William Robert and Annie Scott, his brothers, Raymond and Guy, and his sister Lila.
