April 20, 1929 – Swift Current, SK – January 12, 2017 – Red Deer, AB passed away peacefully at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1995. Sue is remembered by her son Gerald (Laura) and granddaughter Erica. Many thanks to Dr. Peter Mah, the Piper Creek Pines and Parkvale Lodges, the Red Deer Regional Hospital and the Red Deer Hospice.
WAUGH, Noel Francis
1934 – 2017
It is with great sadness the family of Noel Waugh announce his passing on January 12, 2017 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
Noel was born in Feilding, New Zealand and will be sadly missed by many family members and friends on both sides of the Pacific.
Noel will be greatly missed by his loving wife Aileen and he will be sadly missed by his children Peter and his wife Jeanette Waugh of Timaru NZ, Ross and his wife Luc Waugh of Christchurch NZ, Jillian and her husband Grant Small of Timaru NZ, David and his wife Romy Waugh of Airdrie AB and Andrew and his wife Lori Ann Waugh of Manitoulin Island ON. Noel’s oldest daughter Heather Harris of Pleasant Point NZ predeceased Noel in 2009.
Noel’s grandchildren, will also deeply miss him; Melanie, Nicole, Kirstin, James, April, Thomas, Ben, Josh, Heidi, Tim, Anna, William, Sarah and Daniella. Numerous additional family members both in Canada and New Zealand, including many nieces, nephews, cousins and great grandchildren, mourn Noel.
Noel will also be deeply missed by his in-laws, their children and friends both in Alberta and British Columbia.
Before moving to Canada, Noel enjoyed a brief career with the RNZAF as well as significantly contributing to the early pioneering days of New Zealand’s commercial Helicopter Industry as a maintenance engineer and pilot. Later, after moving to Canada and continuing his work on Helicopters, Noel expanded his skills to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at Air Canada where he worked until his retirement.
Noel and Aileen choose Red Deer as their home and settled into retirement life. Noel truly enjoyed helping others and was a fixture in the neighborhood, mowing people’s lawns, doing snow removal (whether you wanted it or not) or helping a neighbor fix something. You have repaid him in kind, and it is with deep respect and thanks we extend our sincere gratitude to all those neighbors, friends and family that have helped Noel & Aileen during these past few difficult months.
The entire family wish to extend our warmest thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff in Units 31 & 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, as well as Alberta Health Services Red Deer Home Care, you are all remarkable people and you made a difference in Noel’s final journey.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Eventide Funeral Home, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta.

SKOREYKO, Trudy
January 6, 1941 – January 12, 2017
Trudy Skoreyko’s (nee Zieglgansberger) time on earth was from January 6, 1941 to January 12, 2017. Judy was born in Pierceland, Saskatchewan on a cold winter’s day at a neighbors. She met the love of her life, her husband Tom, in the spring of 1958 and married on September 8, 1958 in Lloydminster, Alberta. They were married for over 58 years. Trudy has five children, Ron, Ken, Laura, Doug, and Jim. Ron’s wife Shannon is her only and very special daughter in law. Ron, Shannon and their family live in Lacombe; Ken, Laura, Doug, and Jim live in Red Deer. Trudy has eight grandchildren; Brandi, Mindy, Nicole, Katie, Ryan, Cassidy, Courtney, and Lee, as well as five great grandchildren; Dayton, Lucian, Delilah, Aurora, and Carver. She is survived by six siblings; George, Joe, Diana, Linda, Bob, and Randy, along with all of their families residing in many areas of Canada and the United States. She made many lifelong friends that will truly miss her. Trudy was predeceased by her mother on March 13, 1980 and father on June 13, 1983. Trudy loved snowmobiling and snowmobile racing as well as curling, bowling, bingo, playing canasta and going to the Casino’s. Her biggest love and dedication in life was for all of her family. SCHROEDER, Reinhold (Reiny) Albert
May 27, 1931 – January 12, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Reiny leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Shirley (Wilson), children Duane (Bev) Schroeder of Edmonton, Wenda (Brian) Barrett of Boyanup, Australia, Charlene (Bob) Muir of North Vancouver, and Randy (Louise) Schroeder of Port Coquitlam, grandchildren Elli Barrett, Asha Barrett, Hannah Schroeder, Charlie Muir and Michael Muir, elder brother Ed Schroeder (Yvette) of Creston.
Reiny was born in Burstall, Saskatchewan to Rudolf and Olga Schroeder. In 1943, they moved to a farm near Esther, Alberta. He married Shirley in 1954, and over the years, they farmed in Esther and Stettler, then resided in Lacombe and Red Deer. Reiny will be remembered by all for his honesty, his fierce independence and for being a very protective husband and loving father. He loved to travel, whether it was by holiday trailer to the West Coast and Arizona, or overseas to Australia and New Zealand. He had an incredible knack for reciting poetry, and took any opportunity to entertain all who would listen. He had a love for sports, participating in baseball, curling, golf, billiards and fishing.
As per Reiny’s wishes, there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton for their wonderful care of Reiny in his final stages of life.
PARLBY (née Price), Shirley Marie
May 21, 1935 – Jan. 11, 2017 (age 81)
Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years, Geoffrey W. Parlby, along with son Rick (Kitty), grandchildren Adam and Eric, son Alan (Colette), grand-children Alicia (Rick), Greg (Tanya), Kyle, Geoffrey and Hilary (Michael), and son Jim (Pat), grandchildren Daniel and Ashley. Shirley was a great-grandmother to Tyler, Kyle, Noah, Faith, Hailey, Greyson, Allyson, and Keith, and a great-great grandmother to Emmet.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents Harley and (Margaret) Isabell Price, and brother Gordon Price.
There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, January 21st at the Alix Community Hall at 1:00 P.M. Interment to follow at the Alix cemetery.

1950 – 2017
Mr. Duncan McKinnon of Red Deer, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Red Deer Hospice on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the age of 66 years. Duncan will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Krista McKinnon of Regina, Saskatchewan and his two beautiful granddaughters, Saydie and Scarlett McKinnon. He will also be sadly missed by his partner, Suriya ‘Nok’ Baithed and her daughter; as well as his siblings, Joan, Neil and Chris. Duncan was predeceased by his mother, Vic and his father, Miles. A Private Family Service may be held at a later date. TOMA, Janet Wynne
On January 11, 2017, Janet Wynne Toma of Blackfalds, formerly of Edmonton, passed away at the age of 53 years.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Marcy Slemko; her mother and father, Lillian and Richard Toma; sisters, Jackie and Joy (John); nieces, Lauren and Katie; nephew, Shevlin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Mary Burchnall of Parksville, BC passed away at The Gardens at Qualicum Beach Jan. 11, 2017 at the age of 95.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ed Burchnall of 40 years at Parksville BC, son Gene (Maxine) Winchester of Red Deer, grandson Gerry of Santiago, Chile, granddaughter Gay (Mark) of Palm Coast, Florida – grandson Gid (Tera) of Red Deer and two great-grandchildren Kole and Kennedy of Red Deer. She is also remembered by her extended family, Jim (Shelly) Burchnall of Parksville, BC, Neil and Don Burchnall of Red Deer AB, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Cory and Ruth Lakeman, two brothers, and one sister. Mary loved to write poetry, sew, crochet, and in early years loved horses and rodeo – she was also a life member of the Cloverdale Legion Ladies Auxiliary, holding many executive positions. While in Red Deer she worked at Eatons as a drape maker for 7 1/2 years and was with Social Services Community Health for the Alberta Government until her retirement in 1984. She and Ed then retired to White Rock BC in 1986 where they resided until Dec. 2016 – then moving to Parksville one month before her passing. A special thanks to Jim and Shelly Burchnall. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Cloverdale, BC.

to end-stage kidney cancer at the age of 58 years. Dale was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and moved to the Red Deer area with his family twenty years ago. Dale had a passion for curling, hunting, camping and the outdoors in general. He was also a well-known business man throughout Alberta, who strived to always do the best job possible. But more than anything else, Dale was a devoted family man. A loving and caring husband to his wife Suzanne of 37 years and a supportive and understanding father to his four beautiful children, Ric (Rose) of Bendigo, Australia, Michelle of Black Diamond, Alta., Jessica (Dustin) of Springbrook, Alta., and Jenny (Ben) of Grande Cache, Alta. Dale was also blessed with eleven grandchildren: Tony, Paul and Nicole, Micheal, Travis and Kaylee, Nikaela and Emerson, Madison, Maevery and Shelby; as well as three great-grandchildren with another one on way. Dale is survived by his mother Doreen and sister Caren both of Calgary, Alta., as well as his furry little best friend, Emelee. Dale was pre-deceased by his father, Stanley, and by his son in-law Norm. Dale will be greatly missed by many and continue to live on forever in our hearts.
