Mr. Lorne Matthew Samida of Red Deer, beloved husband of Mrs. Janet Samida, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the age of 68 years. Lorne was born, raised and received his education at Tisdale, Saskatchewan. He attended Technical School in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; where he completed his Millwright Certification. Lorne married Janet Kidd on September 12, 1966; and the couple had two daughters, Lorene and Kathleen, and one granddaughter, Kayla. He spent the majority of his working career in the Oil and Gas Industry in Alberta; where he was still involved at the time of his passing. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Liz Richards officiating. MUNRO, Donald Harvey
Don Munro, beloved husband of Cheryl Munro left this earth to be with his Savior on September 14, 2015 at the Red Deer Hospice at the age of 62. Don will be deeply missed and forever loved by those he leaves behind. Don was born in Red Deer in 1952 and lived on the family farm in the Benalto area as a child, then Blackfalds and Red Deer where he completed his high school and attended Red Deer College, and the University of Alberta for his continued education. Don had a love for learning and sports (especially hockey) that remained with him throughout his life. Don's love for the outdoors took him to work at the coal mines in Grande Cache, then in the oilfield throughout Alberta, Alaska, England, Scotland and Norway on the North Sea. Don was also an owner/operator trucker throughout the province. He was a country boy at heart and loved doing some farming in later years. Don is survived by his wife Cheryl, his daughter Crystal (Shawn), his sons; John (Kim), Matthew (Trina), and Jordan (Jannel), Eight grandchildren; Chloe, Savana, Justin, Sarah, Aiden, Reese, Preston, and Kingsley, his brother Glen (Lori), and two sisters Joy (Phil) and Carrol. He is predeceased by his parents, Ethel and Jack Munro, 3 siblings Larry, Margaret, and Brian, and his son Jesse. A celebration of Don's life will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 19th followed by a reception then Interment at the Erskine Cemetery. MACLEOD, John A. "Jack"
1931 - 2015
Mr. John Allan "Jack" Macleod, beloved husband of "Lennie" of Red Deer passed away at the Extendicare Michener Hill, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the age of 84 years. Jack was born at Hanna, Alberta and moved to Sundre with his family at a young age; where he received his Primary Schooling. He then moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he attended High School and married Jean Wishart in 1954. Jack worked in the Oil Patch as a Seismic Driller and then owned and operated the Westpoint Service Station in Calgary until 1964. In 1965, he and Jean moved their family to Red Deer and became the Esso Bulk Agent, where he remained until his retirement in 1991. Jack married Lennie Roberts in 1994. He served his community in several capacities including: the Past President of the Red Deer Elks, Red Deer Shriners, he was a lifelong Mason with 'Scottish Rite', a Past President and Life Director of the Westerner, and also Past President of the Western Fertilizer and Chemical Dealer's Association. He was founding member of the Agri Trade and devoted his life giving his time to these and many other affiliations. Besides his loving wife, Lennie, Jack is survived by his children, Wayne (Sherry) of Red Deer, Sandra (Sean) Wheeler of Canmore, Alberta and Bruce (Launa), also of Red Deer; his stepsons, John (Christal) Roberts of Edmonton, Alberta, Douglas (Susan) Roberts of Hamilton, Ontario and Alan Roberts of Fort McMurray, Alberta; his grandchildren, Janice Reid, Shauna Twogood, Jeff and Craig Macleod, Lauren and Cameron Wheeler, and Evan, Logan, Ayden and Ryen Macleod; as well as his step grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Addie and Emily. Jack was predeceased by his first wife, Jean in 1991, a daughter, Brenda in 1955, his parents, John and Ethel Macleod, and his sister, Barbara Moxham. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Jeffrey Rock officiating. Family Interment will be held at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta. The family would like to thank Dr. Souster and Jack's many caregivers at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and Extendicare Michener Hill for their kindness, compassion and care. It is with deep sadness that Linda's family announce her passing on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the age of 67 years. She leaves to mourn her beloved son, Christopher (Tanya) Robert of Golden, BC, cherished granddaughter, Kassandra of Red Deer, brother, Harlan (Maureen) House of Lonsdale, ON, sister, Glenda (Ron) Deziel of Gadsby, AB, as well as a nephew and many aunts and cousins. Linda loved her work as a teacher at Red Deer College where she was a Legal Assistant Instructor for over 25 years. She was very proud of her students and their accomplishments. Linda's family would like to convey a special thank you to Dr. Hopfner and all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Red Deer Hospital throughout her lengthy illness. Your love, kindness and care for Linda made this long journey easier for all of us. We truly appreciate all you have done. Born December 25, 1923 to Joseph and Cora Best. Beloved wife of Al Armstrong, passed away September 14, 2015 in Camrose, Alberta, age 91. Mildred greatly enjoyed her travels south in the winter. She will always be remembered by family and friends as an excellent housemaker and took great pride in her personal appearance. She was dearly loved and will be dearly missed by her husband Al and their dog, ZuZu, as well as friends and neighbors. Her longtime request and desire was to be buried alongside her Mother in Claresholm. Our love is forever.

Mildred Armstrong of Camrose, Alberta formerly of Red Deer, was born at Haynes, Alberta on December 25, 1923 to Joseph and Cora Benson. She passed away on September 14, 2015 at Rosehaven in Camrose at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her son Tom (Alanna); two grandchildren Grant (Anna) and Karen (Bill) Lebeouf; five great-grandchildren; numerous family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Red Barley. An inurnment service will take place at a later date in Red Deer. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.

Jack Stone passed away peacefully on September 13, 2015 in Oliver, BC at the age of 67. He is survived by his best friend, Daphne Jacobs, daughter Melanie, sons Jared, Greg, Jordan and Kyle, and grandchildren Bretton and Brooklyn. WATSON
Eugene (Gene) Harold Watson was born in Bracken, SK, on Oct. 13, 1932, grew up in the Pine Lake area, and spent his adult years in Red Deer where he died peacefully on Oct. 3, 2015. In the late 1950s Gene partnered with his brother Alan to form Watson Brothers Plumbing & Heating and, later, a construction company, Swell Investments. Over more than five decades the two men completed many buildings and developments in Red Deer, including part of the Morrisroe subdivision (Red Deer's first private sector residential lot development), the Village Mall, Watson Towers, and Michener Manor (Red Deer's first residential condominium). Gene was an active community volunteer, especially with the Red Deer Elks Lodge #85 and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Edmonton Eskimos fan and season ticket holder, and he attended over 20 Grey Cups. He enjoyed curling, golfing and playing hockey, and was pleased to be the founding "Commissioner" of the Silver Selects Old-Timer Hockey team. He loved spending time at the family cabin at Sylvan Lake, which he built. A proud family man, Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marguerite (Lerouge); his children and grandchildren: Michael (Maria Forte) and Alexander and Isabella of London, ON; Debbie-Jo and Christopher, Aydan, Meghan, and Nicholas of Red Deer; Lisa-Jane (Peter Schoenberg) and Patrick and Suzanne of Edmonton; and, Anne Marie (Brad Baumgarten) and Joseph and Jennifer of Red Deer; brothers Ken (Elma) of Lacombe and Alan of Red Deer; brother-in-law Charles Nesbitt of Sydney, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Agnes Joyce (Stephens) Watson; his sister Shirley Nesbitt; and his sister-in-law Myrna Watson. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, October 8, at 7:00 P.M. at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jozef Wroblewski on Friday, October 9, at 1:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Parish, 5508-48A Avenue, Red Deer. LOXAM, Peggy Anne (Smith)

Peggy passed away at the Red Deer Hospice after a six month battle with cancer. Peggy was born at the Red Deer General Hospital. She grew up and remained in Red Deer her entire life attending school at Central Elementary and Lindsay Thurber Composite High. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Ed; her son, Jason, who she was very close to; sisters, Diane Jacobson of Red Deer, AB and Sharon Jaeger of Prince Albert, SK; several nieces and nephews; as well as several great nieces and nephews. At Peggy's request, there will be no funeral. A gathering among friends and family may be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy's memory may be made to the Red Deer Hospice, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, AB, T4R 3S6. At this time, the family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Grundling at the Easthill Medical Clinic for his friendship and help during a very difficult time. Peggy truly loved her Doctor! To Terry and staff from unit 32 at the hospital, Terry helped this family 25 years ago with a similar situation and was there for us each and every day. The Red Deer Hospice, what can a person say, the most incredible care and friendship offered to Peggy as well as the family. Special thanks for the meals and helping the family stay on their feet to be there for Peggy. We are truly blessed to have this facility in our community. A little extra thank you to Janice and Robyn for the adjusting they do to each person's meals to allow them to eat the things they want.

Gordon passed away with his wife Margaret by his side at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 3, 2015. He leaves to mourn his children Melanie (Brian) and Greg; his grandchildren Monica and Alex; brother Lorne (Cheryl) and many close extended family and friends. Gordon farmed in the Centerville District since 1972. He was a member of the Burnt Lake Gas Co-op for 20 years, as well as many other different organizations over the years.
Gordon loved his friends and colleagues and will be dearly missed by all. A Celebration of Life and time of fellowship for Gordon will be held at the Sylvan Lake Royal Canadian Legion Branch #212 on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 2 PM to 5 PM. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Donations in Gordon's memory may be given to the charity of donors choice.
