BURKIN, William Henry
Dad's strong heart, filled with love for his large family stopped beating on the evening of Friday, November 13, 2015 following a four week stay at Red Deer Regional Hospital. As family, we would like to express our thankfulness for the excellent care dad received. William Henry Burkin leaves behind his loving wife, Beryl, whom will miss his love and hand holding that occurred over the past seventy-five years. William was predeceased by sons; Bill (Deloris) of Golden B.C., Bob (Sharon) of Fort Saskatchewan, Dennis (Linda) of Fox Creek, and son-in-law, Lyle (Brenda) of Fox Creek. His sons; Alan of Edmonton, Raymond (JoAnne) of Red Deer, daughters; Brenda (Steve) and Cathy (Bryan) both of Fox Creek, grieve, and will miss his enjoyment of family and love for life. There are twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and eight great, great-grandchildren, to continue his mantra of "Make Someone Smile Today". Dad served in the British Military during the Second World War, in the European Campaigns, being hospitalized twice. He proudly wore his medals every Remembrance Day. Cremation has taken place, with internment at a later date. Dad's remembrance will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer, on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Following, there will be a tea for family and friends at Inglewood Seniors Living, 10 Inglewood Drive, Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in William's honour may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 6, 5015 48 Street, Red Deer, AB, T4N 1S9 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 101, 6751 52 Avenue, Red Deer, AB, T4N 4K8, or to a charity of your choice.

EDWARDS, Marie
Marie Edwards of Red Deer passed away November 12, 2015 at the age of 69 years. Marie was born July 1, 1946 at Cleaves, SK to Paul and Mary Edwards of Thunder Child Res. She is survived by daughter Barbara from BC; sister Pauline Jerry of Siksika, AB; brothers Gordon Butterfly of Red Deer and Wilfred Butterfly of Sylvan Lake; and many nephews and nieces.

CLAYTON, Robert "Bob"
1934 - 2015
Bob Clayton passed away quietly at home in the company of his wife Betty on Thursday morning November 12, 2015 at the age of 81 years. They had been married for over 60 years and raised three children; Gordon Clayton of Cochrane, Alberta, and sisters MaryAnn Clayton and Rene' (BettyAnn) Clayton both of Red Deer. He is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his sister Sadie (Sherrie) Jones of Calgary. He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Margaret Clayton of Vulcan, Alberta. Bob was a long-time resident of Red Deer and seasonal tenant at Spruce Bay on the shores of Pine Lake. Bob will be remembered for his congeniality, storytelling, and love for family and friends. As a young man Bob was known throughout southern Alberta for his athletic skills as a goaltender in hockey and catcher in baseball, playing on many highly competitive junior and senior men's teams in the 1950's. He left his home town of Vulcan, Alberta to join the Royal Canadian Air Force as a mission flight controller and spent a number of years assigned to NORAD (Northern Air Defense) in various postings such as Quebec City, Comox, B.C., Montreal, Duluth, Minnesota, and Schefferville, Quebec. Upon completion of his military career Bob became a process operator and was one of the original crew which started up the Great Canadian Oil Sands facility (now Suncor Energy) in Fort McMurray in 1967. In 1969 Bob moved his family to Red Deer to operate a Chevron gas plant west of Sylvan Lake from which he retired in 1992. He spent much of his retirement enjoying his love for sports, attending numerous tournaments, his love for travel, accompanied by family and friends on numerous trips to Hawaii, Mexico, and Southeast Asia, and his love of cooking, regularly trying new recipes. A formal memorial service for Bob will not be held at his request but a celebration of his life will be planned for the spring at Pine Lake. He will be sorely missed by family and friends but long remembered.

SMITH
Gary Dwayne Smith passed away suddenly November 11, 2015 at the age of 69 years. The son of J.O. and Rebecca Smith, was raised at Poplar Haven Farms just north of Wimborne. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Alberta before returning home to farm and ranch with his father and brothers Ron and Robert. Some of his fondest memories were competing alongside Robert and friend Lorne Howard in rodeos throughout Western Canada first as bull riders and eventually as calf ropers. Gary was also involved in the livestock export business and has worked throughout Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Uruguay, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Russia, Kazakhstan and Asia. He has also served as a judge of beef cattle in many international livestock exhibitions. Gary is survived by his wife Kristine; son Guy (Emily); daughter Kelly (Scott) Fraser; Gary's pride and joy, his grandchildren Brayden Taylor and Tilden Smith and Alex, Becca, Jill and Aubrey Fraser; sisters Cleo Ross and Donna Bennett; brother Ron (Ruth) Smith; sister in law Annette Smith; brother in law Jess Block and sister in law Andrea (Walton) Van Dyke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He is joined in heaven by his parents, brother Robert, brother in laws Jim Ross and Bill Bennett along with a few special cronies from across the cattle industry. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday November 20, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Olds Cow Palace (5116 54 St.) Olds, AB.

PICO, Glen George
1950 - 2015
Glen George Pico of Bentley, Alberta passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the age of 65 years. Glen was the youngest of four children and was born and raised on the family farm in Bentley, which has been in the Pico family for over 107 years. Glen farmed this land for most of his life, with help from his brother Bob in his early years. The Pico family farm will be carried on by his two children, Dustin and Charyna. Glen was also an entrepreneur and his business talents stretched across many ventures. He was a hard working man and supporter. Glen was not one to slow down, and he did not retire even as he became ill. He continued to work hard, until he lost his fight with cancer. His family was very precious to him, and he enjoyed many holidays with his family. Glen will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Naty Pico, children; Dustin Pico and Charyna Pico, all of Bentley, Alberta, brother Bob Pico of Red Deer, sisters; Connie Dean of Edmonton and Pearl Coates of Lethbridge, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents Opal and George Pico. With respect to Glen`s wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private family interment will be held at a later date. OOSTERHOFF, Hendrika (Henny) nee Veninga
Mar. 1, 1934 - Nov. 11, 2015
While our hearts are saddened with her passing, we rejoice that she is now in the company of our Lord and Savior. Hendrika was born in Schettens, Holland and immigrated to Canada following her marriage to Merle (Menno) in 1954. They settled in Red Deer Alberta where they raised their six daughters. Hendrika is survived by Merle, her loving husband of 61 years and her children, Grace, Renita, Evelyn, Arlene, Jeannette (Rob) and Shelley (John). She was a very special grandmother and Beppe. She will be missed by many special friends and extended family members here and in Holland, Ontario and the USA. Memorial service to be held @ First Christian Reformed Church 16 McVicar Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday November 16@ 1 p.m. Memorial Donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society.

NELSON, Edward "Les"
Mr. Edward (Les) Nelson of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully at Revera Inglewood on Jan 16, 2016 at the age of 94. Les was born Nov 28, 1921 in Calgary, Alberta. He grew up in Edmonton then joined the RCAF right out of high school, serving in the European Campaign. When WWII ended and Les was able to come home in 1946, he began his career with Northwestern Utilities in Wetaskiwin Alberta. Enjoying his new home he became a charter member of the Wetaskiwin Kinsmen and enjoyed the fellowship for many years to come. He met and married the love of his life Dorothy (Dot) Arner in 1950 and was blessed with 4 children. In 1965 Les was transferred to Red Deer and completed 35 years as District Clerk before retiring. He enjoyed camping with the family, and viewing the wildlife and scenery in the mountain parks. Les had a special fascination with trains, steam engines in particular. Along with that, he was always proud of his many new vehicles, and was a dedicated fan of the Edmonton Oilers and Eskimos professional teams. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 48 years Dorothy (Dot); infant daughter Cheryl Lee; and eldest son Dale. Les will be lovingly remembered by his sons Bryan (Donna) and Gary (Lisa); grandchildren Chantelle Nelson, Graham (Jenny) Nelson; and his great-grandchildren Vienna, Lucas, Hudson, Gavin, Fiona and Haven. He's additionally survived by brother and sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews. Les always enjoyed the company of his long time close friend Sarah Noren, who was an important part of his life. The Nelson family would like to thank the staff of Revera Inglewood for their excellent care of our Dad, Dr. T. Taiwo and her team and the nurses of Homecare for their commitment to Dad's needs. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 - 67 Street. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Les' memory may be directed to the Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society.

ROBINSON
Oct. 2, 1945 - Jan. 15, 2016
Gary Clifford Robinson of Bentley, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the age of 70 years. Gary leaves behind his cherished family: his loving wife, Myrna; his daughter, Teryn (Steve); and his sons, Scott (Becky), Shane (Natasha), and Wyatt (Vanessa); his beloved grandchildren, Lorne, Addison, Deegan, Ben, and Harper; his parents, Doreen and Les Peters; and his brothers, Aaron (Gerri), and Darrell (Pam). A Memorial Service in Celebration of Gary's Life will be held at the Blindman Valley Ag Centre, Bentley on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. A complete obituary will appear later in the week. MOOS
Shirley May Moos passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on January 14, 2016 at the age of 75 after a lengthy battle with lung disease. Shirley was born on February 11, 1940 in Eckville, A.B. to Waldo and Myrtle Raabis. She grew up in Eckville and went to school at the Estonian and Eckville schools. On January 10, 1958 Shirley married Edward Moos and they started their life on the road following Eddy's career on the rig. This took them everywhere from Lethbridge, A.B., to Mount Le Moray, B.C. After ten years they settled on the family farm to raise their children, and they never fully retired from this lifestyle. Shirley was a talented seamstress and painter and loved to create works of art for her family and friends. She also loved to perform and could often be found at community functions singing her heart out. Shirley's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life and she enjoyed nothing more than spending the day catching up with family and friends over a pot of coffee. She lived for attending family reunions and was usually the first to get there and the last to leave. Camping, sightseeing and long family drives were a part of her life that she enjoyed immensely. Shirley was a kind hearted person who was always ready for an adventure and would quickly make new friends wherever she went. She accepted people as they were and never judged a soul. Shirley touched the hearts of many and wanted each of them to know how much she appreciated everyone and all their love and support. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Waldo and Myrtle Raabis; sister, Wendy Scheifele; nephew, Landon Scheifele; and son-in-law, Nelson Parliament. She leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Edward; her children, Lane, Derek (Sherron), Sandra (Dennis) Baxter, Brenda, and Wes (Kim); 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Garry (Judy) Raabis; sister, Debbie Brown; brother-in-laws, Sid Scheifele and Clarence (Maira) Moos; sister-in-law, Dianna Misner; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. At Shirley's request, a formal service will not be held; however, a celebration of her life will take place at the Eckville Community Centre on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:00pm. Interment will be at the Eckville Cemetery at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. WHITE, DAVID LEROY "ROY"
1923 - 2016
It is with great sadness the family of David Leroy "Roy" White of Innisfail, Alberta, announce his passing at the Rosefield Care Centre, Innisfail on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the age of 93 years. Roy was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on January 4, 1923. Even as the diseases of the mind stole much of his memory over the last year, he never lost his love of planes from his days in the RCAF during WW11 nor his enduring love of pitching baseball as a young man. Roy was pre-deceased by his second wife Nora in 2011. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Sheryl (Gareth) Philip of Innisfail, his son David (Lena) White of Edmonton, Alberta, and a step-son Garry (Diane) Grieve of Drumheller, Alberta. He is survived by his sister Lorraine Hoel of Sherwood Park, Alberta, and pre-deceased by his brother Ross (Nessie) White of Kelowna, British Columbia. He will be remembered with love by all his grandchildren, great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. At Roy's request, there will be no funeral service. MAGA, Germaine Marie Louise
May 31st, 1918 - Jan.13th, 2016
Germaine Marie Louise Maga went home to meet her Lord on January 13th, 2016 at The Lacombe Health Care Centre at the age of 97. Born May 31st, 1918 in Grande Clairiere, MB, Germaine's family moved to Lacombe, AB in 1924, later to Bentley and then Aspelund. Germaine married Bill Maga in 1937 and moved to Poplar Ridge where they farmed until the passing of her loving husband, Bill, in 1978. In 1992 she retired from the farm and moved to Sylvan Lake. Germaine was predeceased by her granddaughter Nancy Ann Caldwell in 1997. She is survived by her two children, Louis Maga (Nita) and Louise Bowron (David), three grandsons and seven great-grandchildren. Germaine was very active in numerous clubs and she was loved by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by her family and many relatives and friends. Prayers for Germaine will be held on Monday, January 18th, 2016 at 7:00 pm from the Our Lady of the Assumption Church and a Mass of a Christian Burial will follow on January 19th, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 5033 47a Ave, Sylvan Lake, AB, with Interment at Red Deer Cemetery.
