Morrison, Gordon Sr. of High River passed away suddenly at the Oilfields Hospital, Black Diamond on November 8th, 2004 at the age of 78 years. He survived by his children Gordon Jr. (Karan) Morrison, Cochrane, Daniel (Nicki) Morrison, Wendy Morrison all of Nanton and Debbie (Archie) Clark, Kamloops, B.C. along with their mother Audrey Morrison, Nanton. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Tara (David) Gardiner, Laura Morrison (Matt), Ashley and Meagan Morrison and his brother Edward and sister Renee Burfield of B.C. He was predeceased by his brother Frank. A memorial service was held at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL, High River on Friday, November 12th at 1:30 p.m. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the High River Cancer Clinic, c/o 560 –9th Avenue W., High River, AB T1V 1B3. Arrangements in care of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME LTD., High River (652-2222).

Norrie, Gordon Melvin beloved husband of Gloria Norrie passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on November 14th, 2004 at the age of 72 years. Gordon was born in Decker, Manitoba to John and Helen Norrie and also lived at Isabella, Manitoba. He moved to Alberta in 1953 where he worked for his brother in General Trucking for 19 years. In 1972 he moved to High River and had his own trucking business until health problems forced him to retire in 1994. Gordon was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #71 in High River. Besides his wife Gloria, with whom he would have celebrated their 48th anniversary in three days, he leaves two sons Cyril (Beverly) Norrie, Glenn (Jill) Norrie and one daughter Brenda Norrie (Cecil Coate). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Wendy (Brad) Turner; Travis, Stephanie and Kimberly Norrie; Tyler, Justin and Holly Coate as well as brothers Charlie Norrie, Frank (Ruth) Norrie of B.C., Archie (Jean) Norrie and Cyril (Doreen) Norrie of Isabella, Manitoba along with numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, November 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in High River. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home Ltd., High River, 652-2222.

Roberts, Joan Marion of DeWinton, passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital and Nursing Home on November 17, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Joan will be dearly missed by her sons; Barrie of DeWinton and Wayne of Texas. 3 grandchildren; Troy, Cindy and Bryce and great grandson Dustin as well as her brother David Frewer of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Patricia and husband Richard "Dick" Roberts in 1999. Joan will be remembered for her unselfish kindness and generosity of her time to all those who knew and loved her. At Joan's request no formal service will be held. A Celebration of Her Life was held at her home on Sunday, November 28th, 2004 between 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. If desired, in memory of Joan, memorial contributions may be considered to the 2nd Floor, High River Hospital & Nursing Home, (Recreational Therapy), 560 - 9 Ave. West, High River, AB. T1V 1B3. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home (Okotoks) Ltd. Telephone 938-3111.

Stauffer, Byron "Barney" passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2004 at the Rising Sun Long Term Care facility in Black Diamond at the age of 97 years. Barney is survived by his sons Joe (Wanda) Stauffer of Spokane and Ken (Carol) Stauffer of Turner Valley as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Doris Allan. Barney was born on March 28th, 1907 in Aldersyde, Alberta and worked in the oilfield until he retired in 1972. A Memorial Service for Barney was held on Friday, November 12th at 1:00 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in Okotoks. Memorial donations may be made to the The Rising Sun Long Term Care, 717 Government Road, Black Diamond, Alberta, T0L 0H0.. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home (Okotoks) 938-3111.

Balderson, Brian Allan of High River passed away at the High River Hospital on March 31st, 2005 at the age of 55 years. Brian will be sadly missed and remembered by his sons Greg Allan and Scott Brian, daughter Cody Marie and granddaughter Skyla; his parents Allan and Pat Balderson, sister Betty (Rudy); brothers Bruce (Jo), Blain (Wendy) along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Brian spent many happy years in the North as a Radio Operator Specialist with the Federal Government. He lived the Northern life to the fullest, helping many people along the way. At Brian’s request there will be no funeral service held. Cremation took place at Parklawn Crematorium. A private family celebration and reception will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Brian’s memory, may be made to the High River & District Health Care Foundation, 560—9th Avenue W., High River, Alberta T1V 1B3 Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home Ltd., High River (652-2222).
Fast, John age 76, of High River passed away Monday, March 14, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Lois, and his two children, Linda and Dean. A memorial service was held on Friday, March 18th, 2:00 pm at Snodgrass Funeral Home in High River. He will be missed.

Gibson, Mary of Nanton, passed away at the Vulcan Extendicare on March 28th, 2005 at the age of 89 years.. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Gibson and her son James, her parents Gilbert and Harriet Lee, two sisters Bea Fletcher and Marjorie Lee and infant brother William F. Lee. She is survived by a daughter-in-law Dana Gibson of Helena, Montana, two sisters Glenora Robertson, St. Thomas, ON and Anne Middleton, Champion, AB and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary taught school at Alston and Hiawatha, country schools near Champion, Arrowwood, Black Diamond, Stavely and Nanton. She will be sadly missed by her relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Nanton-Parkland United Church on Saturday, April 2nd at 4:00 p.m. with Sue MacDonald D.M. officiating. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Nanton-Parkland United Church, Box 759, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0 or to the C.N.I.B, 15 Colonel Baker Place N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 4Z3. The family wish to thank the staff at the Vulcan Extendicare for all the wonderful care given to Mary during her stay. Arrangements in care of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME LTD., High River (652-2222).

Jones, Earl of Turner Valley, passed away surrounded by his family at the Rockyview Hospital on March 28, 2005 at the age of 82 years. Earl will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years Irene, daughter Lydia (Joe) MacNeil of Calgary, grandsons, Rodney, James and Edward, brothers, Bob (Verona) of Picton, Ont., Fred (Dorothy) of Winnipeg, Man., sisters-in-law, Hazel of Edmonton and Minnie of Turner Valley as well as his canine companions Gwen & Tyler and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Oliver, Jim and John and sisters Marjorie and Ruth. Earl was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #78, Turner Valley. In 2003, Earl received the "Palm Leaf" Award. A Memorial Service will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Rd. Okotoks, on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation took place at Parklawn Crematorium. If desired, in memory of Earl, memorial contributions may be considered to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, T2G 3Y6. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home (Okotoks) Ltd. Telephone 938-3111.

LeDuc, Verna Mae (nee Stockwell) of Calgary, formerly of Black Diamond and High River, passed away at the Mount Royal Care Center in Calgary on March 30th, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Predeceased by her husband Raymond LeDuc in 1980, Verna is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Christ Church Cemetery, Millarville on Saturday, April 2nd at 11:30 A.M. Pastor Art Siemens of the Gospel Chapel, B lack Diamond officiated. Robbins, Ted passed away at the High River Hospital on Monday, March 28th, 2005 at the age of 71 years. He will be remembered by his wife of 49 years, Carol Anne (Franklin), son Stuart (Denise) Robbins of High River, daughters Marlene (Barrie) Bannister of Craigmyle, AB, Lynn (Chris) Valgardson of Lumsden, SK, Jody (Dan) Pigat of Calgary, his grandchildren Matt Valgardson of Regina, SK, Glenn Valgardson of Estevan, SK and Eve Pigat of Calgary, AB, his brother John Max (Emma) Robbins of Sooke, BC and several nieces and nephews. Ted was born in Houghton Township, southern Ontario and graduated from Tillsonburg District High School. He operated a tobacco farm for 3 years before moving to New Brunswick to obtain a degree in Geology from U.N.B. He then moved his family to the Cobourg, ON area where he again took up tobacco farming for 9 years. Between farming in both Ontario and Quebec, Ted found time to tend to a Christmas Tree plantation in Northern Ontario. Once again he moved his family to Fredericton where he attended U.N.B. and in 1972 graduated with a Law Degree. After moving to Nanton, Ted articled with the Robert Roddie Firm. The following year he joined his brother’s firm in High River and became the sole owner in 1974. He practiced law until 1984 when he began renovating and renting out older homes in the area. Ted enjoyed many pursuits and obtained his pilot’s license while on the farm. He owned several planes throughout his flying days and was active in the Flying Farmers Association. He loved his time spent in the great outdoors – especially hunting, fishing and traveling. Ted took pleasure spending time at his various cabins. He built a fishing and hunting cabin in northern Saskatchewan and converted an old sea-faring hotel on the Mirimichi Bay in New Brunswick into a summer retreat. If friends desire, donations may be made to the High River Hospital, Palliative Care, 560 – 9th Avenue S.W., High River, T1V 1B3 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1825 Park Road SE, Calgary, T2G 3Y6. Friends and family are welcome to a memorial service which will be held at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL, High River on Thursday, March 31st at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements in care of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME LTD., High River (652-2222).
