Oglestone, Clive W. passed away peacefully at the Beverly Centre Nursing Home in Calgary on February 5, 2010 at the age of 95 years. Clive is survived by his loving wife Ella, sons Gary (Colleen) and Dale, grandchildren Bradley, Carrie, Collin and Anthony and great grandchild Alexiss. He was predeceased by father Lorne, mother Betsy, brothers Roy, Carl, Orville, twin sister Alma and son Ray. Clive was born on his Father’s homestead north of Tessier, Sask. He lived and worked in the farming communities of Tessier and Perdue SK most of his life. During WWII he worked at a lumber camp north of Thunder Bay, Ontario. After the war he married Ella Florence Olson on October 12, 1945. Clive worked for the CNR on the Tessier line briefly then for Mann Motors in Tessier until 1956 when we moved back to his Dad’s homestead to farm full time. In 1974 Dad and Mom sold the farm and moved to Calgary, bought a house in Bowness, worked another 10 years and then retired. He worked at Happy Valley Amusement Park and Westburne Electric while in Calgary. Clive was active in sports in his youth. He was known for being a very good baseball and softball pitcher. He was also an active curler for many years. While living in Bowness Clive and Ella spent many enjoyable hours with their friends at the Bowness Seniors Club. After a serious operation in 2004 Clive went to the Beverly Centre Nursing Home in Midnapore in Calgary. Many thanks to the caring staff at the Beverly Centre. A Memorial service will be held at the Snodgrass Funeral Home in Okotoks, AB at 2pm on Saturday, February 13, 2010. If desired, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Interment will be at the Tessier, SK. cemetery at a later date.

Stewart, Millicent began her journey February 3, 1917, born in the caboose of a blizzard bound train near Millicent Alberta. The family moved from the homestead at Jenner, Alberta to Vancouver in the late 1920's. Millicent finished her schooling in Vancouver and then moved to her Uncle's at Arrowood, in the late 1930's. Here she became the C.P.R Telegraph operator and the telephone operator as well as the Post mistress for Arrowood. She met and married David Cameron Stewart in 1939 and, moved to the family farm at Herronton till 1975, when they retired and moved to High River. Cam passed away in 1987 and Millicent spent the rest of her years in her condo, until she moved into the Medicine Tree Manor where she resided until 2008 and then to the Mayfair Centre and finally to the Beverley Care Centre, Midnapore, where she passed away on February 6, 2010, three days after her 93rd Birthday. Millicent passed away at the Beverley Centre in Calgary, on February 6, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Cameron (1987) mother (Gertrude) and father (Mariner), a sister (Myrna), a brother (Douglas). She is survived by a daughter Camille (Darryl) Laycraft of High River, a son David (Shannon) Stewart of High River, four Grandchildren David (Alison) Laycraft of High River, Stephen (Shannon) Laycraft of Okotoks, Kristi Laycraft of Calgary, Todd (Heather) Laycraft of Vancouver and also four Great Grandchildren Tate and Paula Laycraft of Okotoks, and Foster and Monroe Laycraft of High River and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at the Beverley Centre for their kindness and wonderful care in final weeks. Their thoughtfulness will always be remembered. We would also like to acknowledge the friends, neighbours, past and present, of the Arrowood, Herronton, Blackie, and High River districts, who have accompanied mother along her life journey. At our mother's request there will be no funeral service held. A family interment will be held in Calgary at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Foothills Foundation Medicine Tree Place 815 9th Street S.W High River, Alberta, T1V 1C3 or to the Foothills Country Hospice Society in Okotoks Box 274, Okotoks, Alberta, T1S 1A5.

Quigley, Irene Mona passed away peacefully at the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre Carmangay on February 7th, 2010 at the age of 80 years. Funeral services will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel Okotoks on Friday February 12th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Okotoks Union Cemetery Okotoks, AB. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Irene to the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre Box 160 Carmangay, AB. T0L 0N0 Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Homes Okotoks 403-938-3111.

Blunderfield, Frank - Frank passed away July 22, 2011, at the age of 80. Born July 29, 1930 in Okotoks, Alberta. He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Sarah; parents, Frank and Jennie; two brothers, Don and Angus; brother-in-law, Bob. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; daughter, Margie Jean (Chris); son, Tom (Deb); grandchildren, Paul (Robin), Steve (Crystale) and Salena; great-grandchildren, Alex, Chloe, Elsa and Tristian. Frank is also survived by his sister, Delores; brothers, George (Billie) and Gordon (Carol); sisters-in-law, Marion and Joy and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm. A second Memorial Service will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home, 200 Woodgate Road, Okotoks, Alberta on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Brydges, Ethel - Born in New Brigdon, Alberta on April 28, 1915, Ethel Bridges, beloved wife of the late George Clinton Brydges, passed away with her family by her side in Okotoks, Alberta on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her loving son Wayne Ryan (Jennifer) of Millarville, sister Vera Tye of Calgary and lovingly remembered by her grandsons, Michael Ryan (Caroline), John Ryan (Kailey) and Scott Ryan (Krista), as well as great grandchildren Clayton, Ryan, Sierra, Ashley, Alyssa, Donivan, Jaden and Jake, as well as a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Besides her loving husband George, Ethel was predeceased by parents Rodney and Jane Tye, brothers Fred Tye, Ken Tye and sister Irma Robb.
To honor Ethel’s life, a Funeral Service will be held at Memories Funeral Home, 13403-St. Albert Trail, Edmonton, Alberta, on Friday, August 5, 2011at 11:30 AM; with Pastor Gary McKellar officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Northern Lights Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Foothills Country Hospice Society, PO Box 274, Okotoks, AB; T1S-1A5.

Cairns, Kenneth Harry (Kenny) Kenny was born August 28, 1943 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He passed away on August 15, 2011 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. As a child, Kenny lived on a farm with his parents, Marie and Harry Cairns, and his 6 siblings, in Drink Water, Saskatchewan. They later moved to Regina where Kenny attended High school. Right out of High School, Kenny became an Iron Worker, and that was his life long career. He made many friends “Brothers”, travelled the world, and was a “renowned” story teller, relating his many experiences. He leaves to mourn the loss of his life, three sons Greg, Troy and Ryan; Four Sisters Vera, Mary Ann, Barbara and Yvonne, Brother Howard and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Anita. Also to mourn his loss are his 5 grandchildren Jessica, Brandon, Dylan, Tyler, Riley and 3 step- grandchildren, Jaxon, Kennedy, Kale and their mother Naomi. Also left to grieve is Kenny’s life friend Mary Christine Lund and her family, Connie, Chris, Carol and their families. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in High River, Alberta.

Richard Connop passed away on July 9, 2011 at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his wife, Vivienne of Okotoks, his daughter Charmaine Connop-Scollard, son-in-law Kenneth Scollard, grandson Sterling Connop-Scollard all of Calgary, and his brother James of Bragg Creek. He is also survived by his nieces Christine Spring Gifford (Peter) of Calgary, Germaine Spring-Smith (Nigel) of Priddis, Brenda Sourisseau (David) of Bragg Creek, Anita Spring (Walter Wabischewich) of Millarville, Kim Smith (Lyle) of Nanton, Maurine Spring of Calgary, and nephew Keith Titterington of Calgary. He was predeceased by his father Sydney Mosley Connop in 1964, mother Agnes Connop in 1989, sister Vivian Titterington in 2003, and brother George Connop in 2004. Richard was born in Bragg Creek, Alberta on April 25, 1920. He spent more than four years with the Royal Canadian Air Force, 409 Squadron, after volunteering for service near the beginning of World War II. With the exception of his military service, Richard spent his entire life ranching in the Bragg Creek, Millarville and Okotoks areas. He was an accomplished horseman and was known for the excellent quality of his cattle. He drew extensively on his skills as a mechanic. Talented in many areas, Richard especially enjoyed braiding. So many of us are grateful for the gift of knowing Richard and the courage, strength, motivation, patience, gentleness and commitment he exemplified. The family wishes to thank the staff at High River Hospital for their caring attention.

Gill, Barry It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barry Gill at the Black Diamond Hospital on Sunday, August 7 2011. Barry is survived by his loving family, mother Stella Goodrich of Longview, Sister Joyce (Don Filan) of Dewinton, Brother’s Stan Gill of Longview, Roger (Sandra) of Edmonton and Aunts, Uncles, Cousin, Nieces and Nephews and many friends. Barry was predeceased by his father and two sisters Janet and Gaylene. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in High River. In Lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Barry’s name to the Salvation Army 1006B 11 Ave SE, High River, Alberta, T1V 1P2 or the Canadian Cancer Society 200-325 Manning Rd N.E., Calgary, Alberta, T2E 2P5.

Hill, Patricia Joyce, of High River, formerly of Taber, AB. and Markdale, ON., passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital, on June 29, 2011 at the age of 91 years. Pat will be dearly missed by her children: Barry (Jeanette) of Airdrie, Glen (Lynne) of Owen Sound, ON., Anne (Bob) Simington of High River, Becky (Andrè) Vien of Kelowna, B.C., Vivien (Nolin) Boyer of Blumenhof, SK. She will remain in the hearts of her grandchildren: Andrea, Steven, Vickie, Jenny, Alex, Ivan, Brian and Wyatt and her great grandchildren Kayla and Bailey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Delbert and sisters Vivien Lemon and Joan Kennedy. Pat was born on June 18, 1920 at Woodford, England to John and Gertrude Kipling. She married Delbert Hill in 1943 and as a war bride came to Canada in 1947 settling in Markdale, ON. where they farmed for eighteen years and raised their family. In 1977 Pat and Delbert retired to Taber where Pat remained until 2004. She relocated to High River to live with her daughter Anne for six years and most recently lived out her past year at the High River Nursing Home. Pat’s family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sarah Makhdoom for her compassion and friendship as well as the staff at the nursing home for the care given to Mom. We know that she appreciated you all so much. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. If desired, in memory of Pat, memorial donations may be made to the High River District Health Care Foundation (Palliative Care/ Home Care) 560 – 9th Ave. W., High River, Alberta T1V 1B3.

Rainer Hofmann, beloved son of Ella and Otto Hofmann of DeWinton, AB passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the age of 56 after a short battle with cancer. Rainer is survived by his mother and father, Ella and Otto Hofmann, son and daughter, Stephen and Christine Hofmann, sister and brother in law, Linde and Ted Pidgeon and niece Jennifer Pidgeon. Born in Calgary, Rainer lived and farmed in the De Winton area and was an active member of the Lions Club in Okotoks. A memorial service will be held at Okotoks Evangelical Free Church, 28 Westland Road, Okotoks, AB on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception. Memorial donations in Rainer’s memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Canada, Prairies Region, Calgary Chapter, 2020 10 Street N.W. Calgary, AB T2M 3M2.
