1928 - 2006
Mildred Jean Elliott, beloved wife of the late Mr. Jim Elliott of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on April 24, 2006 at the age 77 years.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children: Joan (Lawrence) Ziegler, Bev (Gord) Peters, Lyla (Nick) Wetsch of Condo AB, Ron (Diane) Elliott, Jennifer Hall, Lisa (Herb) Chadwick, fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters; Evelyn Blais and Clara Houghton both of Kamloops BC.
She was predeceased by: her husband, Jim Elliott in 1999, parents Ernest and Dora Houghton and sister Doreen Miller.
Born in Innisfail AB on November 20, 1928, and resided there until moving to Calgary to work and become a nurse at The Children’s Hospital.
Jean met Jim and married him on July 10, 1946 and spent 53 years together.
Jean became a stay at home mom when the children started to arrive.
She loved being a mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
Playing cards and games with all her “children” was a great joy and she was fortunate to have so many. Family, friends, picnics and Sunday dinners were of great importance to Jean.
She was a loving person whose door was always open and the coffee pot was always on.
As Jean’s children were growing up, she became very active with Brownies and Guides, becoming the Area Commissioner.
She was also active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #275 and was there as a helper and for support when Jim became president.
Jean played an important role in helping organize and contributing to the information for the Book - Forest Lawn History.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so prior to the Funeral Service at Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will commence at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
Jean will be buried with Jim in the Field of Honor, Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
If so desired, a memorial tribute may be made in Jean’s name directly to the Calgary Poppy Fund ( #109, 315-10 Ave SE Calgary AB T2G 0W2).

HOOBONOFF - Harry “Cecil”
1931 - 2006
After a two year battle with cancer, Cecil Hoobonoff passed away on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Foothills Medical Centre at the age of 74 years.
He was predeceased by his father Peter, his mother Dora and a sister-in-law Helen.
He is survived by his brother John, a nephew, two nieces, and their children.
Grateful thanks to Jeff and Julia Wallace and family for their care and support.

KING - Margaret “Myra”
Margaret “Myra” King (nee Smart) passed away at the McKenzie Towne Care Centre on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the age of 95 years.
Myra will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Heather (Lance) Wheeler; granddaughter, Dianne (Jim) Novak; grandson, Stuart (Michele) Wheeler and great grandchildren, Brad and Kennedy Novak and Marla Wheeler, all of Dalemead. She is also survived by a niece, Elaine (Ron) Franklin of Calgary and nephews, Glen King, Roy (Gail) King and Gordon (Lois) King.
Myra was predeceased by her husband Allan, brother Jim Smart, sisters Mabel Baker and Elsie Trevelyan.
Myra was born on October 15, 1910 in Coatbridge, Scotland and came to Calgary in 1912 where she resided until she married Allan King of Indus in 1935.
They resided on their farm at Indus until 1972 when they retired to Calgary.
After Allan’s death, Myra continued to live in their Calgary home until a few years ago when she moved into the McKenzie Towne Retirement Residence and in January of 2005 moved to the McKenzie Towne Care Centre.
Myra loved to visit with family and friends and spent many hours doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles over the years.
She had been a member of the Indus Live Wires Seniors Club and a lifetime member of the Sakkara Temple, Daughters of the Nile. To celebrate Myra’s long life and to honor her preference, a family gathering will be held at the North Bow Lodge at Dalemead on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m.
The family wishes to express its thanks to the staff of McKenzie Towne Care Centre for their excellent care of Myra over the past fifteen months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Jean Umbach
UMBACH - Jean Augusta Umbach, beloved wife of George Umbach, of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Forest Grove Nursing Home on April 24, 2006 at the age of 85 years.
She was predeceased by her brother Marcus Tompkins.
Jean was born on August 5, 1920 in Brookville, NB, to Ralph and Clara Belle Tompkins.
She was an active member of the Greater Forest Lawn Senior's Centre for more than 25 years.
Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.

Befus, Mariann Elizabeth
Sept. 24, 1953 – May 21, 2006
Mariann touched many individuals during her time.
She embraced the experiences of life and through her traveling, career and spirituality Mariann lived these to their fullest.
Throughout her life and during her last illness, Mariann was rewarded with an abundance of love and personal acknowledgement from her friends, family and associates.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, John Lathrop; Mom, Penelope Befus; brothers, Dean (Marg), Ian (Lila), and Robert (Doris); and the seven nieces and nephews, Dillon, Lindsay, Paul, Dawn, James, Matthew, and Brendan.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Mariann’s care-givers for your loving care and dedication.
