Predeceased by her husband William in 1989, Tillie will be sadly missed by her two sons and two daughters-in-law, Brian and Pegi of Calgary and Kevin and Jane of Taber; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Charlie Hogeslag of Kelowna, B.C. and Colleen and Randy Richards of Calgary; and eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her mother Luvella Ell of Grassy Lake; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Josephine Ell of Grassy Lake and Edward and Ella Ell of Calgary; and one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Gordon Reber of Bowden. Tillie will be remembered for her years of dedicated service in the CWL and with Pastoral Care at the Peter Lougheed Centre. FUGE -- Nan Fuge passed away at the Foothills Hospital on December 24, 1997 at the age of 75 years, beloved wife of Ray Fuge and dear mother of Ian Fuge, Neil Fuge and Alison (Roger) Smith. Nan is also survived by her grandchildren, Vanessa, Jennifer, Heather and Taylor; three great-grandchildren Travis, Bobbie and Cassie; sister Betty MacKenzie; brother Ian (Jean) Bennie; and her dear aunt Jean Bennie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nan was taken suddenly and will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends. HYDE -- Mary Theresa (nee Hughes) peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at the Lakeshore Lodge, Toronto, at the age of 95 years. Theresa (lovingly known as Ted or Teddy) was predeceased by her husband Raymond Milton (Ray) Hyde; her son Ray Jr.; and her grandsons, Steve Cooke and Rick Hyde. Theresa will be sadly missed by her daughter Nancy Jane Cooke of Calgary; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; special nieces, Beryl Frampton and Carol Fordyce; loyal friend Betty Cameron; daughter-in-law Teresa Hyde; and other nieces and nephews and their families. Her ready smile and sense of humour will be missed by all those and by residents and staff of Lakeshore Lodge. KENNEDY -- Frances G. "Frankie" Kennedy, (nee Leaman, Finkle), passed away peacefully at Bow View Manor with her loving family at her side on Sunday, December 21, 1997. Frankie was 81 years old. Her zest for life, positive attitude and wonderful sense of humour will be missed by all who knew her. She was always on the go whether it was playing golf, bridge or her hairdressing, and enjoyed the time spent with her many friends. She leaves to mourn her death, her loving husband of twenty-three years, Bill Kennedy; daughter Jill Gilmour of Edmonton; son Larry Leaman (Karen); stepdaughter Patty Downey (Larry), all of Calgary; grandchildren, Bill Grady of Edmonton, Todd, Brooke, Jim, Jennifer of Calgary; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister; and two nieces of Calgary. Frankie was predeceased by her parents, brother, sister, daughter Jackie and grandson Chad. LEUSCHNER -- Lela Stell Leuschner (nee Baker) passed away peacefully December 22, 1997 at the Extendicare Cedars Villa at the age of 93 years. "Judy" as she was known to many, will be sadly missed by her son William Charles Leuschner and his wife Laurie of Calgary; her grandchildren, Jan Swinson (Richard) of Bedford, Texas, Lizabeth Leuschner (Steve Wilson) of Calgary, and Charles Leuschner of Vancouver, B.C.; and her great-grandchildren, Chris and Callie Ruth Meeks (Texas), and Layton, Rachel and True Wilson (Calgary); as well as many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband William Charles Leuschner Jr. in 1966, and by her sister Edna Vada Baker in 1984. During World War II, Judy packed parachutes for the U.S. Air Corps. She was active in Violet Chapter No. 158, Order of the Eastern Star in Victoria, Texas where her membership spanned more than fifty years. After having lived for many years in Corpus Christi, Texas where she enjoyed her garden and fruit trees, she moved to Calgary in 1988 to be near her family. Special thanks to the many fine people at the Cedars Villa "Poplar Unit" for their excellent care and compassion. MACK -- (nee Zimmerman). Mary of Calgary passed away at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre on December 21, 1997 at the age of 90 years. She is the loving mother of six sons and four daughters. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Adam in 1992. McMILLAN -- Frank J. passed away peacefully on December 21, 1997. Frank was born November 18, 1944 at Milden, Sask. He is survived by his parents, Edwin and Lois McMillan of Rosetown, Sask.; two brothers, Duncan (Carol) of Rosetown, Bruce (Marge) of Saskatoon; one sister Sharon (Bert) Jackson of Acme, AB; eight nieces and nephews; one great-niece and one great-nephew; and his aunt Kay (Syl) Napolitono of Victoria, B.C. NELSON -- Dora Evelyn beloved wife of Mr. Canute Nelson, passed away at her residence on December 20, 1997 at the age of 81 years. She was predeceased by her son Harold in 1981. Dora and Canute were married for fifty-seven years. NICOL -- Bert Nicol, aged 85 years, passed away at the Extendicare Scottish Nursing Home on December 22, 1997. Predeceased by his wife Ellen in 1980, he is survived by his daughter Barbara Mossman (Marc) and grandson Ian of Woodland, Washington; a brother John Wylie of Comox, B.C.; and a sister Dorothy Pimentel of California. Born November 23, 1912 in Glasgow, Scotland, Bert came to Canada in 1947. He worked for the CPR for many years before his employment with the Calgary Board of Education for twenty-three years. POGUE -- W. Gordon died peacefully December 22, 1997 at Foothills Hospital after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his son Donald (Carol) of Calgary; and his sister Mary Coons of Thessalon, Ontario; loving grandchildren, Stephen, Carolyn, Teresa, Anton (Jeanne), Michael, Tim (Leslie) and Karen; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kirsten and Douglas; together with cherished daughters-in-law, Mary Jane of Calgary and Gwen of Sandpoint, Idaho. He was predeceased in 1993 by his loving wife Elsie, and his sons, Douglas (1992) and David (1993). Born in Peterborough, Ontario in 1908, Gordon received his professional training at George Williams College and North-Western University in Chicago where he married Elsie in 1930. Moving to Toronto in 1934, he established Pogue Health Service, an athletic club and health education facility, later pioneering the same health and fitness service in Calgary from 1950 to his retirement in 1974. For the next twenty-two years, he remained active in Lahaina, Hawaii until ill-health brought him back to Calgary. He was highly regarded for his dedication to well-being, and remained, until the end, a promoter of healthy living. Heartfelt thanks is extended for the dedicated and tireless efforts of the entire staff of Unit 47 and the Dialysis Unit staff of Foothills Hospital.
